Jane Sophia Plummer
Jane Sophia Farr Plummer, 77, of Medford, died Friday (Nov. 24, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private funeral will be held.

She was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Warren, one of seven children of John and May Farr. On May 3, 1945, in Warren, she married Merle Plummer, who survives.
Mrs. Plummer was a sales representative at department and jewelry stores. She also owned and operated a stationery store-cafe-bus depot in Sweet Home with business partner Lee Dudley.
She was a grand committee member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Elkettes in Sweet Home and a member of the United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Plummer enjoyed sewing, golfing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Carol Hearns, Medford; a son, Jeff, Klamath Falls, and three grandchildren.
V. Mae South
V. Mae South, 88, of Florence, formerly of Ashland, died Nov. 19, 2000. A private memorial service was held Nov. 26.

She was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Hanna, N.D., a daughter of Hilton and Edna Thody Brignall. On Oct. 2, 1931, in Calvin, N.D., she married Lawrence H. South, who died in 1993. They moved to Ashland in 1939.
The Souths owned and operated several family-run grocery stores in the Rogue Valley. Mrs. South also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 12 years and in retail sales until her retirement in 1973. She moved to Florence in 1993 following her husband’s death.
Mrs. South was a seamstress and enjoyed needlework crafts. She also enjoyed her family, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Darol, Prospect, and Charles, Florence; and a daughter, Earlene Tidwell, Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

William D. ‘Bill’ Lowe Sr.
The memorial service for William D. "Bill" Lowe Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Newman United Methodist Church. Pastor Brett Strobel will officiate.
Mr. Lowe, 76, of Grants Pass, died Thursday (Nov. 23, 2000) at Three Rivers Community Hospital and Health Center, Washington Campus.

He was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Erick, Okla. On Nov. 25, 1948, in Erick, he married Mary Frances Wheeless, who survives. He moved to Grants Pass in 1960 from Indianapolis.
Mr. Lowe owned and operated Fairgrounds Texaco & Wrecker Service from 1960 to 1984, when he was injured in a tow truck accident. In 1973, he built the Horse Hotel. He co-operated it until 1997.
He was a member of Newman United Methodist Church, Grants Pass Elks Lodge, Shriners, Masons and the Redwood Lions Club.
Mr. Lowe enjoyed listening to books on tape and attending activities of his grandchildren and community.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, William D. Jr., Central Point, and James M., Grants Pass; a daughter, Victoria Lowe-Reiman, Santa Clara, Calif.; three brothers, Jack, Borger, Texas, Bud, Shamrock, Texas, and Bob, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; and four grandchildren.

Leanna Marie Walker
The graveside service for Leanna Marie Walker will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Her family will officiate.
Mrs. Walker, 74, of Medford, died Saturday (Nov. 25, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born July 31, 1926, in Atwood, Colo., a daughter of Lenton Earl and Lafone McDowell. On March 15, 1947, in Ashland, Ky., she married Beecher Walker, who died in 1971. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1966 from Las Vegas.
Mrs. Walker was a homemaker.
She was involved with the social service agency CERVS, Northwest Seasonal Workers and the Salvation Army.
Mrs. Walker enjoyed volunteer work, art, bingo and skating.
Survivors include two sons, Billy, Las Vegas, and David, Beaverton; six daughters, Lily Ellis, Amy Lawrence, and Machel Patchett, all Medford, Rachel Shubin, Eagle Point, Caroline Wissinger, Toledo, Ohio, and Jeanne Denzer, in Oklahoma; six sisters, Ollamae, Amy Christine, Carmen, Julia, Addy and Roberta; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ollie and Beecher Jr.; and a granddaughter.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hillcrest Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Road, Medford.
Faye Lillian Thrush
Faye Lillian Thrush, 83, of Jacksonville, died Thursday (Nov. 23, 2000) at a foster care home in Medford. A memorial service will be held later.

She was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Sapulpa, Okla., a daughter of Cecil and Lulu Riner. She married Donald Thrush, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Thrush was a homemaker. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from Whittier, Calif.
She enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Marylou Baker, Jacksonville, and Darlene Shook, Whittier, Calif.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Leonard Neil Osgood
Leonard Neil Osgood, 87, of Ashland, died Saturday (Nov. 25, 2000) at his home. There will be a private burial at sea.

He was born June 14, 1913, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to American parents, Luke and Addie (Chaffee) Osgood. He was raised and educated in Lake City, Minn. On March 2, 1937, at Princeton, British Columbia, he married Jessie McKinnon, who survives. He and his family moved to Ashland in 1947.
Mr. Osgood was a builder of homes and medical buildings in Ashland and the vicinity.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed country living, golf, fishing and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Marjorie Hoeft, Pendleton, and Lee Saadat, Brookings; a brother, Luke, Moses Lake, Wash.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Budd William Gail
Budd William Gail, 87, of Medford, died Sunday (Nov. 26, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service will be held.

He was born Jan. 2, 1913, in Halliday, N. D. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1929 from North Dakota and graduated from Medford High School in 1930. He then attended Oregon State University for two years.
On Aug. 18, 1934, in Medford, he married Margaret "Penny" Pennington, who survives.
Mr. Gail worked at the Medford post office from 1942 to 1972. He retired as assistant postmaster in 1972.
He was a corporal in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving as a cryptographer. He decoded and delivered the message sent to Gen. Eisenhower announcing the end of the war in Europe and sent that message on to the other generals in Europe.
Mr. Gail was a lifelong member of the Medford Elks Lodge.
He was a avid fly fisherman, golfer and card player.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Dr. Thomas A., Newberg, Dewey, Charlotte, N.C., and Jim, Libertyville, Iowa; a brother, Robert, Rogue River; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A brother, C. Norman, preceded him in death.
