Irene Phillips
The funeral for Pearl Irene Phillips will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at the Litwiller- Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland with a reception following. Private interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland. Mrs. Phillips, 72, of Phoenix, died Friday, May 14, 2004 at home.

She was born November 24, 1931 at Laramie, Wyoming the daughter of Opal and Charles Einspahr. She lived in Laramie till the age of 11 when she moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1942, and to Portland in 1946. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949. During her high school years she was a teen fashion model, loved to ice skate, was a lead soprano in the Choir, and chosen as the Roosevelt High School May Princess.

In 1950 she married Wiley Phillips who survives. She worked in a Portland Fashion store as a model and accountant. She was a loving mother of four children and enjoyed fishing, dancing, and attending football games.

Prior to her illness she was active in the Ashland Missionary Alliance Church and always listened to Pastor Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings.

She moved to Ashland in 1969 and to Phoenix in 2001. Most recently, she enjoyed her yard and backyard birds and she loved her family and her God.

Surviving in addition to her husband are: two sons, Dr. Stephen Phillips of Medford, OR, and Gregory Phillips of Talent, OR; two daughters, Deborah Koland of Ashland and Karen Davis of Portland, OR; two brothers Richard Einspahr of Sacramento, CA and William Einspahr of Buena Vista, Colorado; two sisters Shirley Cartozian and Evelyn Nellbauer both of Portland, OR; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Hospice, 1660 East McAndrews, Medford, Oregon 97504.

Arrangements under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Linda S. Madruga
Linda S. Madruga, 56, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at her home in Ashland, OR.

Memorial services will be at the Four Square Gospel Church in Ashland, on Tuesday, May 25, at noon.

In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your place of worship.

Linda was born on November 13, 1947 in Illinois; one of three children born to Richard and Ethel Ryan.

She is survived by her spouse, Anthony Madruga, daughter, Michele Ehlers, sister Debra Ryan, brother, Richard Ryan, grandson, Richard Ehlers (19-months), with a second grandson due to arrive in August.

Tracy Dewey
Tracy Dewey, born October 9, 1990, passed suddenly on May 22, 2004.

She will be remembered by her family and friends for her many abilities; clear reasoning, outspoken opinions, sense of humor, independent spirit and her loving heart.

She is survived by her father, Paul Dewey, her brother Benjamin Dewey, sister, Amy Dewey and her mother Petra Dewey. The good die young.

There will be a memorial gathering, Saturday, May 29th, from Noon until 6 p.m. at her home, 2530 Siskiyou Blvd. Ashland, OR.

Ruth Willnetta Eien 1920-2004
Ruth Willnetta Eien, 83, passed away on May 17, 2004 at Ashland Community Hospital in Ashland, Oregon. Ruth was born at home in Long Beach on October 27, 1920 to Ruth Daphne Gould and Leslie Samuel Gould. Ruth loved and spent her entire life in Long Beach.

Ruth attended Willard Elementary School, Franklin Junior High School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1938. She graduated from Long Beach City College in 1940.

She married Charles B. Eien, October 5, 1940. During World War II, Ruth served as a secretary in the Adjutants Office at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland. Ruth was a patriot and dearly loved her country.

Ruth was active in the PTA's of Willard Elementary, Jefferson Junior High School and Woodrow Wilson High School from 1957 to 1974. She served at President of the Willard PTA in 1960-61 and of Jefferson in 1970-71. Ruth was an active member of the Boosters at Woodrow Wilson High School. She was selected as an Honorary Life Member of the PTA.

Ruth had a multitude of interests including reading, sewing, crochet, needlepoint, crossword puzzles and history. Her love of history led her to volunteer at the Rancho Los Alamitos for over twenty years. She served as the President of the Associates (volunteer docents) in 1986-88.

Ruth was a life-long Christian Scientist and loved all of God's creatures. Ruth is survived by her two loving children, Charles Eien and Sandra Slattery, and her beloved son-in-law, Dennis Slattery as well as many dear friends and family.

A memorial service will be held for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ruth's name to the Rancho Los Alamitos Foundation, ATTN: Curatorial Fund: 6400 Bixby Hill Road; Long Beach, California.

John Thomas Rodgers, Jr.
A memorial service for John Thomas Rodgers Jr., was held Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Skyline Memorial Gardens, Portland. Mr. Rodgers passed away on May 13, in Alhoa, OR.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1935 in Klamath Falls, OR. He graduated from Medford High in 1953 and attended Southern Oregon University and Portland State. In 1955, he married Joan Henigin, who survives.

They lived in Ashland from 1957 to 1977; they moved to Aloha in 1977. Mr. Rodgers worked as a salesman until his retirement. He was a member of the Ashland Elks, Ashland Boosters Club, and Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland.

He was a founding member of the Ashland Little League, the Ashland Babe Ruth League and the Ashland Senior Babe Ruth League.

He was an All-Star Tournament Coach for the Ashland Babe Ruth in 1973- 1974.

Survivors include; his wife, Joan A.; his sons, John T. Rodgers III, Jeffrey E. Rodgers, James T. Rodgers, and Joseph Rodgers; his daughters, Judith H. Murphy, and Jill R. Perry; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., ALS, or the Lupus Foundation.

Mildred Edith Randles
Mildred E. Randles, 94, former Ashland resident of 71 years, died at Good Samaritan Hospital, Portland on June 15, 2004. No services will be held.

Born Mildred Laurent on May 31, 1910 on her family's farm in Ransom County, ND, she grew up in Eagle Grove, Iowa and graduated Jr. college there. In 1939, she married Guy W. Randles, who preceded her in death in 1992.

She lived in Ashland from 1929 to 2000; then moved to Aloha, Oregon. Primarily a housewife, Mildred also worked at Perrine's store as a Clerk. She was also a member of the election board.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Susan Mainella.

Arrangements: Springer and Son, Aloha Funeral Home and Crematory.

Virginia Louise Sue Crosno
Virginia Louise Sue Crosno, age 93, died Tuesday June 15th at her home in Ashland, Oregon. She was born October 14th, 1910 in Temple, Texas, to Bert Alexander Crosno and Bashia Elizabeth Puett Crosno.

She graduated from Temple High School in 1927 and attended the University of Texas. She was employed in Temple for a number of years, then in Fort Worth and Houston where she made her home for over 45 years, and where she retired from her position in the Development Office of Houston Baptist University.

In February of 2000, she joined her sister, Mary Crosno Poppen and niece Julia Poppen Rezek to live in Ashland, Oregon. She truly enjoyed her home during the past four years here. She welcomed each day with a smile, and proclaimed every day - a beautiful day. She marveled at the clear blue skies and abundant green trees of Oregon. Her faithful companion, her dog Roscoe, will go to live with Sister Mary and niece Julia. Her cat, Smokey will do the same.

Visitation was at 5:00-8:00pm Thursday June 17th at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland, Oregon. Burial will be beside her parents and grandparents in the family plot, Hillcrest Cemetery, Temple, Texas, at 2 p.m. on June 19th, 2004.

Arrangements to be made by Scanio Harper Funeral Home, Temple, Texas.
