Robert James King
The memorial service for Robert James King will be at 11 a.m. Friday at West Main Church of Christ. Pastor Stan Johnson will officiate.
Mr. King, 57, of O’Brien, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 200o) at his son’s home in Central Point.
He was born Feb. 14, 1943, in Williston, N.D., a son of Robert and Mildred King. He graduated from Salem High School. On June 18, 1965, in Salem, he married Marilyn Arthur, who survives. He moved to White City in 1976 from Salem.
Mr. King was a diesel mechanic for F.V. Martin Trucking in White City for 15 years, and for Covered Bridge Construction in Rogue River for two years. He lived in White City from 1976-1988, when he moved to O’Brien.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. King enjoyed bowling, hunting, the ocean and four-wheeling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Kerry and Robert E., both Medford; two daughters, Angelia King, Medford, and Robbin King, Fort Wayne, Ind.; his mother, Mildred King, Salem; two sisters, Kathi Lehmann, Salem, and Susanne Forman, Scotts Mills; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Louis.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.
Edwin Lucien Carson
The graveside service for Edwin Lucien Carson will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. A local service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Chapel in Ashland.
Mr. Carson, 70, of Ashland, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at his home.
He was born March 13, 1930, in Hood River, a son of Mayhew Watts and Edna M. (Green) Carson. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Portland and the University of Oregon. On Jan. 12, 1979, in Salem, he married Adriana Benavides.
Mr. Carson began his career in 1954 as a state police officer for the state of Washington in King county. In Oregon, he was a state police officer, revenue agent and retired as port of entry officer in 1994. He lived in northern and central Oregon before moving to Ashland a few years ago.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952, and stayed active in the Reserves until 1994.
Mr. Carson was a member of the Elks Club for more than 40 years. He also belonged to the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed genealogy, travel and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, David and Phillip, both Portland; his mother, Edna M. Carson, Portland; a brother, Richard S., Portland; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his former wife.

Lois H. Anderson
The memorial service for Lois H. Anderson will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford. Pastor Robert Larson will officiate.
Mrs. Anderson, 88, of Ashland, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.

She was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Angola, Ind., the daughter of Jesse and Carrie (Johnson) Harman. She graduated from high school in Angola, Ind., and from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Portland. On March 4, 1943, in Pueblo, Colo., she married Ivar Raymond Anderson Sr., who died in 1989.
Mrs. Anderson was a registered nurse for more than 50 years; and was nursing home administrator in Jackson County.
She was a member of the Oak Knoll Ladies Golf Club, and the Sarah Circle at Ascension Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Anderson enjoyed golfing, reading, hiking and playing bridge.
Survivors include two sons, Ivar R. Jr., Alameda, Calif., and John W., Boise, Idaho; and three grandchildren.

Betty Jean Millhollin
The funeral for Betty Jean Millhollin will be at 7 p.m. today at Major Family Funeral Chapel in Springfield. Chaplain Ed McIndoo will officiate. Mausoleum entombment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Millhollin, 87, of Springfield, formerly of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 1, 2000).

She was born Sept. 28, 1913, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, a daughter of Hibbard and Myrtle (Williamson) Cleveland. The family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1926. In 1928, in Southern Oregon, she married Alton M. Anderson. They divorced in 1934. On Nov. 17, 1934, in San Francisco, she married Max Millhollin, who survives. They lived in Medford.
Mrs. Millhollin was a homemaker. She and her husband, Max, managed five Safeway Stores in Southern Oregon. They then purchased the Olympia Beer distributorship in Medford.
She enjoyed cooking, golf, traveling and playing the organ.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons Theodore Alton Anderson, Highland, N. C., Richard Max Millhollin, Creswell, and James Selby Millhollin, Friday Harbor, Wash.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Sachs.

William A. Floyd Jr.
The memorial service for William A. Floyd Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Applegate Christian Fellowship. A grandson, Pastor Bryan Fowler, of Applegate Christian Fellowship, will officiate.
Mr. Floyd, 67, of Medford, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Norway, Ore., the son of William and Hazel (Phillips) Floyd Sr. He graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 1951. On Aug. 30, 1952, in Myrtle Point, he married Myra Palmer, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1966 from Coos Bay.
Mr. Floyd was a log truck driver with R.B. Brown Trucking, retiring after more than 25 years.
He enjoyed family, fishing, camping and woodworking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Bill, Medford; two daughters, Janice Sample, Medford, and Pam Capell, Hillsboro; two sisters, Benita Wandell and Dette Kinchloe, both Myrtle Point; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ilene Isaacson, Elenore Ragland and Donna Taylor.

R.L. ‘Goody’ Swinford
R.L. "Goody" Swinford, 68, of Canyonville, formerly of Ashland, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at a Roseburg area hospice center. No service is planned.
He was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Alcorn County, Miss., the son of Grady and Ella (Wilbanks) Swinford. On May 17, 1969, in Carson City, Nev., he married Deleane Teel, who survives.
He lived and worked in South Douglas County for most of his adult life, and lived in Ashland from 1951-1961
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Marvin, Yelm, Wash.; two daughters, Dana O’Neill, Canyonville, and Hope Galante, Medford; a brother, C.B. Ash, Winston; a sister, Irene Hanks, Mount Shasta, Calif.; and three granddaughters.

George ‘Jay’ Rice
George "Jay" Rice, 72, of Waldport, formerly of Medford, died Nov. 24, 2000 in a traffic accident. No service is planned.
He was born June 5, 1928, in El Dorado, Kan. On Oct. 8, 1948, in Carney, Neb., he married Betty Ann Hill, who survives.
Mr. Rice was a maintenance building supervisor. He lived in Medford from 1971-1978, and in Anchorage, Alaska from 1978-1989, when he moved to Waldport.
He was a radio operator in the Army Air Corps.
Mr. Rice was a member of the Elks.
He enjoyed cards, fishing, crabbing and dancing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Kay Welburn, Klamath Falls, and Jean Penney, Anchorage, Alaska; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
