Gary D. ‘Black Bart’ Corn
The memorial service for Gary D. "Black Bart" Corn will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Corn, 57, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 6, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Henderson County, N.C. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1965 from Fortuna, Calif.
Survivors include a brother, Harry E., Libby, Mont.; and a sister, Margaret Parker, Renton, Wash.

Claude Truman Hefner
The memorial service for Claude Truman Hefner will be at 3 p.m. today at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Rogue River. The Rogue River Veterans of Foreign Wars will officiate. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Hefner, 67, of Rogue River, died Saturday (Jan. 6, 2001) in Rogue River.
He was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Texarkana, Texas. On Sept. 2, 1955, in Bellflower, Calif., he married Mary Brink, who survives.
Mr. Hefner was a medic for the U.S. Army. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1970 from California.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Christy Duggins, Rogue River, and Shelly Hefner, Grants Pass; a son, Walter, Rogue River; a brother, David, Rogue River; three sisters, Ina Hansen, Long Beach, Nina Hefner, Las Vegas, and Marguart Robinson, Lakewood, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Laura A. Tanhoff
Laura A. Tanhoff, 79, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 6, 2001) at her home. A private service will be held.

She was born Laura Reigstad on April 27, 1921, in Sleepy Eye, Minn. On Sept. 21, 1939, in Estherville, Iowa, she married Arnott Tanhoff, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley from Southern California in 1983.
Mrs. Tanhoff was a homemaker.
She enjoyed crafts and sewing.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Judy Plauster, Palmdale, Calif.; two sons, Jim, Central Point, and Brad, Medford; a sister, Myrtle Wellman, St. James, Minn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Reigstad.

John Corrie Howard
The memorial service and inurnment for John Corrie Howard will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Hugo Warnke of Saved by Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford will officiate.
Mr. Howard, 84, of Phoenix, died Sunday (Jan. 7, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Los Angeles, the son of Volney and Hazel Howard. In 1943, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., he married Stella Horn, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Howard worked in the San Francisco Bay area in the insurance business, and later in the manufacture and sale of fire protection sprinkler systems in Oakland and Long Beach, Calif. He moved to Medford following his retirement in 1986, and later to Phoenix.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attained the rank of major, serving with the 75th Division, 290th Infantry Regiment in France, Belgium and Germany, including action in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium in 1944. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in that action.
Mr. Howard enjoyed gardening, golf and, later in life, painting. His art works have appeared in numerous arts events in the Rogue Valley.
Survivors include two sons, Mark, Medford, and John Jr., Novato, Calif.; two step-granddaughters; and a sister, Nancy Teal, Meridian, Idaho.
Kenneth A. Williams Sr.
The graveside service for Kenneth Albert Williams Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The American Legion Honor Guard will officiate.
Mr. Williams, 60, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (Jan. 7, 2001) at his home.

He was born Dec. 20, 1940, in Marietta, Okla. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Oklahoma.
Mr. Williams was a heavy equipment operator for 25 years for Foley Roads, a Gold Hill timber company. He worked for Goodwill Industries from 1998 to 2000.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Medford.
He enjoyed outdoor recreation and was an avid shuffleboard, pool and dart player.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Jr., Eugene, and, Kelley, staff sergeant at Fort Drum, N.Y.; a sister, Virginia Pfenninger, Gold Hill; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Williams, in 1966; his mother, Ola Williams, in 1983; two sisters, Shirley Jolliffe in 1992 and Betty Ann Glenn in 1995; and a brother, Billy, in 1995.

Archie Paul Harrington
The memorial service for Archie Paul Harrington will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.
Mr. Harrington, 90, of Portland, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 7, 2001), in Portland.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born in Glenwood. On Dec. 26, 1987, he married Mary Ruth Boussum Jorgensen, who survives.
Mr. Harrington was a grocery store proprietor. He lived in Medford in 1980s.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Harrington was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Linda Mason, Portland, and Lauralee Nichols, Aloha; and a brother, George Harrington, Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mabel Ethel Griffin
The funeral for Mabel Ethel Griffin will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memory Gardens Chapel. The Rev. Bob Gass of Harvest Baptist Temple will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Griffin, 75, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 7, 2001) at her home.

She was born Mabel Trimble on May 18, 1925, in El Dorado, Ark. In 1943, in Warren, Ark., she married Mack R. Griffin, who died in 1993. They moved to the Rogue Valley 52 years ago from Warren, Ark.
Mrs. Griffin was a nurse from 1943 to 1985. She helped open the health center at the Rogue Valley Manor in 1961 and also did private nursing.
She was a member of Harvest Baptist Temple in Medford.
Survivors include three sons, Richard, Eagle Point, James, Medford, and Jerry, Jacksonville; two daughters, Laura Winner, Eagle Point, and Virginia Jones, Fort Sumner, N.M.; a brother, James Trimble, Livermore, Calif.; three sisters, Louise Trimble Snow, Medford, Helen Trimble Snow, Jacksonville, and Olive Trimble Snow, White City; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter in 1987, by a grandson in 1992, and by four sisters.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
