Rena ‘DeDe’ Curtiss
The memorial service for Rena "DeDe" Ellen Curtiss will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cascade Room in the Doubletree Hotel, 200 N. Riverside, Medford.
Mrs. Curtiss, 65, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 15, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Klamath Falls, the daughter of James and Rena Hagler. On March 2, 1957, in Reno, Nev., she married Arthur Morton Curtiss Jr., who died in 1994.
Mrs. Curtiss was a clerk-typist and dispatcher at Jackson County Animal Control for 28 years, retiring in 1998. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
She enjoyed the ocean, her cats and yard work.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Curtiss, Medford; a brother, Denis Hagler, Medford; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Chris Hagler.

Ruth Ross Hickman
The memorial service for Ruth Ross Hickman will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Anna Maria Creekside, 822 Golf View Drive, Medford.
Mrs. Hickman, 94, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 16, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born July 24, 1906, in New York City. On Jan. 21, 1941, she married Royal Arden Hickman, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hickman was a homemaker. In Guadalajara, Mexico, she started an orphanage and enlisted the help of the Salvation Army to build it.
She was a member of the League of Voters and was active in Guadalajara community affairs. She moved to the Rogue Valley 16 years ago from Guadalajara.
Mrs. Hickman was an avid reader and bridge player.
Survivors include two daughters, Hope Hamilton, Medford, and Rosemary Coons, Bremerton, Wash.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ross.

Alfred Gordon Glass
The memorial service for Alfred Gordon Glass will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Rogue Valley Manor.
Rev. Glass, 95, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 15, 2001) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center.

He was born Jan. 11, 1906, in Montreal, Canada. On Oct. 13, 1984, in Los Gatos, Calif., he married Mary Frances Smith, who survives.
Rev. Glass was a Presbyterian minister, retiring in 1980. He served at Yosemite National Park and later at churches in San Francisco and Saratoga, Calif. During his final years in ministry, he was a counselor in Los Gatos, Calif. He moved to the Rogue Valley 7 ˝ years ago from Los Gatos.
He was a member of the Presbyterian USA Church.
Rev. Glass enjoyed walking, dancing and writing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Margaret Gail Crouch, Seattle, and Jane Frances Krejci, Monte Sereno, Calif.; a son, Alfred Gordon Jr., Farmington, N.M.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Glass; a brother, Jack; and a sister, Alice Charlotte Cruz.

Rolland B. Hardin
The memorial service for Rolland B. Hardin will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Lee and Leonore Thornally.
Mr. Hardin, 75, of Eagle Point, died Jan. 3, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 16, 1925, in Twin Falls, Idaho. On Dec. 19, 1991, in Eagle Point, he married Julie Bruce Frugoli, who died in 1999. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from San Rafael, Calif.
Mr. Hardin was a building contractor with L.F. Thornally Corp. in San Ramon, Calif., retiring in 1992.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Hardin enjoyed golf, carpentry and boating.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Kelly, Paradise, Calif.; a son, John, Encinitas, Calif.; a brother, Bob, Loveland; a sister, Carmen John, Roseburg; and four grandchildren.

Phyllis Dorothy Roney
Phyllis Dorothy Roney, 91, of Central Point, died Jan. 7, 2001, at Three Fountains. No service is planned.
She was born April 19, 1909, in Roscoe, N.Y., the daughter of James and Nellie McAdams.
Ms. Roney was a registered nurse in Eureka, Calif., and a foster grandparent, retiring after 20 years of volunteer service. She also taught art classes at the Central Point Senior Center.
She was a member of Calvary Temple in Central Point.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Sullivan, Central Point; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

William Orville Burnette
The memorial service for William Orville Burnette will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Tom Fletcher of Rogue River Church of the Nazarene will officiate.
Mr. Burnette, 88, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 15, 2001) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
He was born May 3, 1912, in Talent. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life. On Jan. 9, 1946, in Shotton, Wales, England, he married Dora Heartland, who died in 1997.
Mr. Burnette was a mill worker. He retired in 1975.
He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Burnette enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and reading.
Survivors include a son, David, Medford; and a sister, Beulah "Birdie" Pringle, North Hampton, Mass. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Vincent Oren Kagg
The graveside service for Vincent Oren Kagg will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Concord, Calif.
Mr. Kagg, 87, of Grants Pass, died Friday (Jan. 12, 2001) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Washington Campus, in Grants Pass.
He was born April 22, 1913, in Marshall County, Minn., a son of Albert and Emma (Grunderson) Kagg. On Aug. 4, 1963, he married Vivian Brookin, who died in 1991.
Mr. Kagg worked in retail sales at Cole Key Company and Western Auto Stores in California.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Kagg enjoyed playing the fiddle and winning prizes at the Old Time Fiddlers’ contests.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Betty Howe, Rogue River; a stepson, Bill Bradley, in Nevada; a brother, Willis, in Colorado; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
