Richard Peter Danielsen
The memorial service for Richard Peter Danielsen will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point. Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Danielsen, 78, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 22, 2001) in Medford.

He was born Feb. 9, 1922, in Poplar, Mont. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from California. On April 5, 1997, in Central Point, he married Hannah Vogel, who survives.
Mr. Danielsen retired as a painter from the U.S. Naval Testing Station at China Lake, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Mr. Danielsen was a former member of the Medford Eagles Lodge, and was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church.
He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, fishing and visiting with friends.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Richard W., Trinity, Texas; two daughters, Carolyn Nelson, Portland, and Gloria Page, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Helen Holsapple, Havre, Mont.; a brother, James, Poplar, Mont.; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Foote, Medford, and Lynne Michaelson, Beaverton; a stepson, Keith Andes, Eugene; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Madden; and a grandson.

Roy E. Hoover Jr.
Roy E. Hoover Jr., 74, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) at his home. A private service will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor John Wiuff of the First Church of God will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Norton, Kan., the son of Roy E. and Ruby R. Hoover. On March 26, 1948, in Medford, he married Kathleen M. St. Marie, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1942 from Kansas.
Mr. Hoover was an accountant at Harry and David, Bear Creek Corp., in Medford.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Hoover was a member of the Elks, Moose and Eagles in Medford.
He enjoyed traveling to Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Sheryl A. Perry, Medford, and Cynthia K. Nellipowitz, Klamath Falls; his mother, Ruby R. Hoover, Medford; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Pullin.

Helen Nancy Richings
The funeral service for Helen Nancy Richings will be at 8:30 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Richings, 82, of Central Point, died Sunday (Jan. 21, 2001) in Medford.

She was born Helen Nancy Romansik on Jan. 6, 1919, in Erie, Pa. On Feb. 4, 1951, in Savona, N.Y., she married James Franklin Richings, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959 from Erie, Pa.
Mrs. Richings was a member of the Providence Guild and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Karen Sharp, Central Point, and Carol Verga, Merced Island, Wash.; a brother, Joe Romance, Las Vegas; three sisters, Kayla Kohut, Albion, Pa., Eva Rogala, Erie, Pa., and Mary Potter, Orlando, Fla.; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Alva G. ‘Bo’ Roberts
Alva G. "Bo" Roberts, 71, of Medford, died Jan. 9, 2001, at his home. A memorial service will be held in the spring.

He was born June 17, 1929, in La Grande, a son of Orville and Ina Roberts. He graduated from Union High School in 1948. In 1952, he married Laurel Shanks. They later divorced. In 1965, he married Louise (Borri) Van Buskirk, who died in 1985. In May 1989, in Reno, Nev., he married Jenny Roberts, who survives.
Mr. Roberts was a truck driver, in the woods, and on the road. He played town baseball and participated in rodeos in his younger days.
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Comstock during the Korean War.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his children and stepchildren, Chris Roberts and Lori McKay, both La Grande; David Roberts, Woodland, Calif., Mark Roberts, Denver, Nita Noonan, Eagle Point, Vickie Menke, Canby, and Denise Houston, Medford; two sisters, Genevieve Madsen, Emmett, Idaho, and Barbara Baum, Gresham; seven grandchildren; and two grandchildren.

Bill L. Arnold
The graveside service for Bill L. Arnold will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass. Pastor Robert Swinea will officiate.
Mr. Arnold, 90, of Grants Pass, died Friday (Jan. 19, 2001) at Heritage Place Wellness Center in Bandon.
He was born June 17, 1910, in Bainville, Mont. On Oct. 21, 1930, in Flaxville, Mont., he married Mabel Gunn, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in 1960 from Santa Monica, Calif.
Mr. Arnold was a butter and cheese maker with Rogue Gold Dairy in Grants Pass until his retirement in 1975.
He enjoyed working in his garden.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Duane, Grants Pass, Keith, Fresno, Calif., and William, San Jose, Calif.; three daughters, Verlie January and Sally Pena, both Grants Pass, and Denise Hillstad, Santa Monica, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Burnis Mae Hurd
The memorial service for Burnis Mae Hurd will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jerome Prairie Bible Church, 2564 Walnut Ave., Grants Pass. Pastor James Downing will officiate. A potluck will follow the service.
Mrs. Hurd, 89, of Central Point, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She was born Nov. 6, 1911, in Crescent City, Calif. On May 12, 1933, in Crescent City, she married Elven Hurd, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hurd was a homemaker. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Crescent City.
She was a member of Gasquet Bible Church in Gasquet, Calif.
Mrs. Hurd enjoyed crocheting, walking, camping and all facets of cooking.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Garrett, Medford; three sons, Robert and Lawrence, both Central Point, and James, Corvallis; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Wesley E. Dollar
The memorial service for Wesley E. Dollar will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Marvin Clark will officiate. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
Mr. Dollar, 95, of Grants Pass, died Jan. 17, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1905, in Calistoga, Calif., the son of William and Grace Dollar. On Sept. 9, 1963, he married Leila Rodriguez, who died in 1996. He moved to Grants Pass in 1998 from Calistoga, Calif.
Mr. Dollar served in the U.S. Navy from 1923-1924.
He was a member of the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mr. Dollar enjoyed riding and repairing bikes, leather-working, and playing his hand saw.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Irma Cottrell, Grants Pass; two stepsons, George Carambot, Portland, and Thomas Carambot, San Bernardino, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
