Clarence ‘Clancy’ D. Johnson

A celebration of the life of Clarence "Clancy" D. Johnson will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church on Crater Lake Ave. In Medford. Pastor Tommy Carr will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson, 65, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Ave., Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Jan. 14, 1936, in Medford, a son of James V. and Hazel (Dole) Johnson. On Nov. 27, 1958, in San Francisco, he married Sonja Joyce Lingscheit, who survives.

Mr. Johnson was co-owner and operator of Medford Plating for 34 years. He lived in the Rogue Valley all his life.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1963.

Mr. Johnson volunteered and participated in the Cancer Society’s Walk for Life, and supported many other local charities.

He was a member of the No Name Street Rod Club. He enjoyed street rodding, and was an avid supporter of stock car racing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Cindy Glover, Medford, a son, Steve, Medford; two brothers, James V. and Melvin W. Johnson, Medford; three sisters, Mildred Aldrich, Medford, Mae Goosen, Canby, and Carol Morrison, Klamath Falls; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Orin ‘Barney’ Ellis

The memorial service for Orin James "Barney" Ellis will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor David R. Ellis will officiate.

Mr. Ellis, 77, of Rogue River, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) at Three Rivers Hospital, Washington Campus.

He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Hugo, and was a lifetime Oregon resident. He attended school in Selma, Kerby and Butte Falls. On Dec. 21, 1968, in Brookings, he married Ellen Miller, who survives.

Mr. Ellis was a mill worker. After his retirement, he had a seasonal fruit and vegetable stand in Brookings, retiring in August 2000.

He enjoyed animals and always had a dog, most recently his Yorkie, Koko. He also enjoyed fishing, flea market sales and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Pastor David R. Ellis, in Utah; two stepdaughters, Janet Tawney, Rogue River, and Patricia Harmon, Gresham; two stepsons, Michael Miller, Rogue River, and Carl Jessen, in Texas; five sisters, Elva Schnurr, Phyllis Smith and Geraldine Williamsen, all Medford, Dama Stephenson, Milwaukie, and Linda Dimmick, Carson City, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Delbert Ernest Wingler

The funeral service for Delbert Ernest Wingler will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Pastor Carlos Pena of Table Rock Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Wingler, 100, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 22, 2001) at his home.

He was born March 15, 1900, in Douglas County, Ill. On Jan. 29, 1919, in Tuscola, Ill., he married Viola McGrath. They moved to the Rogue Valley from California in 1980, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary before she died in 1989.

Mr. Wingler was the operations manager for Benson Creamery in Decatur, Ill., for 21 years. He then moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he managed the sporting goods department at Dooley’s Hardware for 15 years, retiring in 1960.

He enjoyed flower gardening and fishing, and went on many deep sea fishing trips.

Survivors include two sons, Melvin, Medford, and Larry, Hurst, Texas; a daughter, Beulah Eagleton, Medford; three sisters, Mable Rote, Janesville, Wis., Floy Davis, Tuscola, Ill., and Alice Hornbeck, Griggsville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alberta McDonough; three brothers, Elmer, Lowell and Raymond; and two sisters, Florence Hunter and Lois McCarthy; and one grandchild.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Judith Ann Jones

No service is planned, but the music at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service at Trail Christian Fellowship in Shady Cove will be dedicated to her.

Pastors Don Holmes and Rick Booye will officiate. The music at the Sunday service will also be dedicated to her.

Mrs. Jones, 59, of Central Point, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trail Christian Fellowship, 18881 Highway 62, Shady Cove, OR 97539.

She was born July 6, 1941, in San Jose, Calif., a daughter of Harry and Charlotte Nuzum. She attended school in Camas Valley, Calif. On Nov. 18, 1972, at Lake Tahoe, Nev., she married Jack E. Jones, who survives.

Mrs. Jones was a food server at Crater High School.

She was a member of Trail Christian Fellowship.

Mrs. Jones enjoyed spending time with her family, ceramics, traveling and camping.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, David, Medford, and Dan, Leadville, Colo.; a daughter, Adina Jones, Eugene; her parents, Harry and Charlotte Nuzum, Roseburg; two brothers, Richard and Mike Nuzum, both Roseburg; four sisters, Kathleen Preston, Ashland, Susan Senger, Roseburg, Karen Benson, Eugene, and Sharon Volske, Orange, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Maxine P. Corliss

The memorial service for Maxine P. Corliss will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at West Linn Lutheran, 20390 Willamette Drive, West Linn. Private inurnment will be in Willamette National Cemetery.

Mrs. Corliss, 87, of Portland, died Jan. 16, 2001, in Portland.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

She was born Sept. 11, 1913, in Cherry Vale, Kan. She graduated from Medford Senior High School and from what is now Southern Oregon University. In 1936, she married Guy D.W. Corliss, who died in 1995.

Mrs. Corliss was a grade school teacher and librarian at Sunset Elementary School in West Linn, retiring in 1978. She lived in the Medford area for 30 years and taught in Southern Oregon for many years.

Survivors include a brother, Dr. Robert Pittenger.

Scott William Hurst

The memorial service for Scott William Hurst will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Vets for Vets will officiate.

Mr. Hurst, 51, of Shady Cove, died Jan. 18, 2001, at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

He was born June 10, 1949, in Hawthorne, Calif., a son of Clyde and Mary Hurst.

Mr. Hurst was an electronic technician. He moved to the Rogue Valley 11 years ago from Bishop, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Hurst enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include a son, Kelly, Eagle Point; three daughters, Sarah Hurst, Eagle Point, and Tracy and Kimberly Hurst, both in California; his parents, Clyde and Mary Hurst, Shady Cove; and a brother, Paul, Marina Del Rey, Calif.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Charles Douglas Little

The memorial service for Charles Douglas Little will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Hagedorn of Providence Hospice will officiate. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Little, 80, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 20, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Dialysis Services, 2868 Creekside Circle, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born March 15, 1920, in Albuquerque, N.M., a son of Felix Armijo and Clara Tyler. On Aug. 10, 1941, in Grants Pass, he married LaVerne K. Wheeler, who survives.

Mr. Little was a timber faller, retiring in 1982. He was a longtime resident of Prospect.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the D-Day invasion on Normandy Beach.

Mr. Little enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Douglas and Steven, both Prospect, and Donald, White City; a brother, James A., Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; a sister, Marcella Perez, Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.
