J. Leon Owsley

J. Leon Owsley, 81, of Central Point, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Private inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

He was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Grove, Okla., the son of Joseph and Ida Mae (Westfall) Owsley.

Mr. Owsley served in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1984.

He enjoyed cutting and polishing stones, woodworking and carving.

Survivors include his wife, Margie, Central Point; and a sister, Opal Cox, Medford.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Pharol Audrey Larson

The graveside service for Pharol Audrey Larson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Turlock Memorial Park in Turlock, Calif.

Mrs. Larson, 87, of Grants Pass, died Thursday (Jan. 25, 2001) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Washington Campus.

She was born Dec. 3, 1913, in Hilmar, Calif., the daughter of Frank and Loda Retzlaff. She moved to Grants Pass in 1994 from Turlock, Calif.

Survivors include two sons, Edwin, Grants Pass, and Norman, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Larson; and a son, David R. Larson.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley, Grants Pass.

LaVerne Pech

LaVerne Pech, 95, of Eagle Point, died Friday (Jan. 26, 2001) at a Medford foster care home. The memorial service will be held later.

She was born May 3, 1905, in Brownsboro, a daughter of George and Mabel Brown. Her family migrated to Oregon from the East Coast by covered wagon in 1853. They founded and built Eagle Point, and Brownsboro Road is named for the family. She attended high school in Ashland.

On July 16, 1925, in Lake Creek, she married Adolph Pech, who preceded her in death. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.

Mrs. Pech enjoyed gardening, motorcycle travel, camping and animals.

Survivors include three daughters, Lucille Pech, Central Point, Virginia Phillips, Irrigon, and Eunice Harrison, Spokane, Wash.; a son, Roland, Eagle Point; a sister, Donna Young, Stockton; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur; and three sisters.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Jose ‘Joe’ P. Reis

The funeral Mass for Jose "Joe" P. Reis will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford. The Rev. William Dillard will officiate. The committal service will be at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Hillcrest Chapel, 2201 N. Phoenix Road, Medford.

Mr. Reis, 65, of Medford, died Sunday (Jan. 28, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. On July 25, 1960, in Santa Maria, Portugal, he married Maria Inez Cabral, who survives.

Mr. Reis retired from Fremont School District in California in 1997. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997 from Sunnyvale, Calif., where he had lived for 35 years.

He enjoyed gardening and antique radios.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Edward, Medford, and David, Central Point; three brothers, Tony Reis, Taunton, Mass., Emanuel Moreira, Taunton, Mass., and Anthony Moreira, Rayham, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hillcrest Chapel, Medford.

Earlene A. Bollers

The funeral Mass for Earlene A. Bollers will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shady Cove. The Rev. William McHugh will officiate. Committal will follow at 1 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. today at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point.

Mrs. Bollers, 78, of Gold Hill, died Friday (Jan. 26, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born June 30, 1922, in Arapahoe, Colo., the daughter of Howard and Faye Lambert. On Jan. 1, 1948, in Denver, she married Thomas Bollers, who survives.

Mrs. Bollers was a statistical clerk for United Airlines for six years, and retired from Frontier Airlines in 1981 after 18 years at Denver Stapleton Airport. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1982 from Colorado.

She was a member of the Catholic church.

Mrs. Bollers enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Cheryl Daniels, Grayson, Colo.; two brothers, Duane Lambert, Denver, and Beryl Lambert, Greeley, Colo.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care.

Norman Lee Salveson

Norman Lee Salveson, 88, of Central Point, died Thursday (Jan. 25, 2001) at his home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Foundation Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Avenue, Medford, OR, 97504.

He was born June 26, 1912, in Chicago, the son of Eldrup and Johanna Salveson. On July 11, 1932, in Missouri, he married Merle Hurst, who survives. In 1992, they moved from Yucca Valley, Calif., to the Rogue Valley.

Mr. Salveson was a civil engineer involved in construction projects such as the Newfoundland Oil Refinery, missile silos in Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Newton, Iowa, and a member of the Exchange Club.

Mr. Salveson enjoyed golf, bridge and reading.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Norman L. Salveson Jr., Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Susan Roberts, Medford; a brother, Leon Eugene Salveson, Sutherlin; a sister, Tordis Chew, Yucaipa, Calif., four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Wilma Estella Webb

The graveside service for Wilma Estella Webb will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Gotcher Cemetery, Watergap Highway, Williams. The Rev. Earl Best of Rogue Valley Hospice will officiate.

Mrs. Webb, 83, of Medford, died Thursday (Jan. 25, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 6501 S.W. Macadam, Portland, OR 97201, or the Alzheimer’s Association, Southern Oregon, 2860 State St., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born April 7, 1917, in Josephine County, a daughter of William H. and Bertha E. Lemmon. She spent most of her life in Williams, then moved to Medford. On Dec. 22, 1937, in Grants Pass, she married Norman C. Webb, who survives.

Mrs. Webb was a partner with her husband and relatives, Percy and Connie Sowell of Williams, in Webb & Sowell Logging. She later worked at Brown Brothers Lumber which became Webco Lumber Co. in Williams.

She enjoyed her friends, working in her garden, 4-H and being with her family.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Larry L., Medford, and Ronald N., Lakeside, Calif.; a daughter, Barbara A. Webb, Medford; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Sowell.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Edward Rosas Jr.

Edward Rosas Jr., 73, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (Jan. 23, 2001) at his home. A private service will be held later.

He was born July 27, 1927, in Stockton, Calif. On June 9, 1953, in Stockton, he married Ellyn Swartout, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass from Colusa, Calif., in 1980.

Mr. Rosas was a teacher. He was one of the founders of Indian University in Davis, Calif., and helped the Northern California Rural Health Project get started.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952.

Mr. Rosas was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the VA.

He enjoyed crossword puzzles and family gatherings.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Eric, Colusa, Calif., Edward, Sacramento, Calif., Milton, Kingsburg, Calif., and Jaques, New York; a daughter, Roslyn Pruitt, Chico, Calif.; six sisters, Pauline Perez, Riverside, Calif., Annie Reyes, Madera, Calif., Jane Moreno and Mary Vasquez, both Stockton, Calif., Tina Parks, Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Virginia Vela, in California; four brothers, Nick, in California, Jaques, Carson, Calif., Chris, Stockton, Calif., and Robert, Spokane, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives.
