Charles Clifford McCaslin

Charles "Cliff" Clifford McCaslin, 90, of Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 20, 2001) at his home. No service is planned.

He was born June 22, 1910, in Hugo. On Oct. 17, 1931, in Albany, he married Faye Matney, who preceded him in death. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946.

Mr. McCaslin was a logger and heavy equipment operator in logging and road construction.

He enjoyed fishing and sightseeing.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Grubbs, Medford; a brother, Joe, Montesano, Wash.; a sister, Thelma Spires, Lebanon; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alzora Edwards.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Darrell Lynn Cameron

Darrell Lynn Cameron, 50, of Medford, died Thursday (Feb. 15, 2001) at Roseburg Veterans Affairs Hospital. A memorial service has been held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Transitional Care Unit, 913 N.W. Garden Valley Blvd., Roseburg, OR 97470.

He was born Aug. 17, 1950, in Wichita, Kan. On Sept. 7, 1998, in Ashland, he married Deborah Keeton, who survives.

Mr. Cameron was a welder. He lived in Medford for four years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1974 with the 82nd Airborne Division and the Green Beret Special Forces.

Mr. Cameron enjoyed oil painting and car models.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Shawn and Sean; his parents, James and Wanda Cameron, Everett, Wash.; a brother, Galen, Marysville, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Phyllis Fletcher

The funeral for Phyllis Fletcher will be at 2 p.m. today at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Mrs. Fletcher, 76, of Red Bluff Calif., formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Saturday (Feb. 17, 2001) at a Redding, Calif., hospital.

She was born Phyllis Rocco on Sept. 6, 1924, in New Jersey. On Aug. 25, 1944, in San Francisco, she married Alva Fletcher, who died. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1984 from Cupertino, Calif.

Mrs. Fletcher was a homemaker.

She enjoyed painting and needlework.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Saunders, Jacksonville; two sons, Ron, Red Bluff, and David, Cupertino; two sisters, Tony Gusti and Lillian Delasantina, both California; a brother, Nick Rocco, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister and a grandchild.

Michael E. Topar

Michael E. Topar, 49, of Rogue River, died Saturday (Feb. 17, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. The memorial service for Mr. Topar will be at noon Sunday at McKee Bridge in Applegate. Mr. Topar’s fiancee, Josee Fournier of Ashland, will officiate.

He was born Aug. 7, 1951, in Bridgeport, Conn., a son of Edward and Mary Topar. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1970 from Connecticut.

Mr. Topar worked as a commercial fisherman for 20 years.

He enjoyed camping, fishing on tropical islands, and crabbing.

Survivors include his fiancee, Josee Fournier, Ashland, and a daughter, Gillian Jackson.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Leslie Dwight Mann

The memorial service for Leslie Dwight Mann will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the First Baptist Church, White City. The Rev. Leary Hood will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Mann, 81, of Medford, died Monday (Feb. 19, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2860 State St., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Adel, Iowa, a son of George and Jane (Galbraith) Mann. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1978 from Hacienda Heights, Calif. He lived in Eagle Point from 1978 to 1989 before moving to Medford.

On July 2, 1949, in Temple City, Calif., he married Hazel Galloway, who survives.

Mr. Mann served in the U.S. Air Force.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years in California. He later worked for the California Parks and Recreation Dept. as a landscaper. After moving to Oregon, he worked in maintenance for the Medford 549C School District for five years. He retired from all three jobs.

Mr. Mann was a member of the First Baptist Church in White City.

He enjoyed gardening and landscaping.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five sons, Terry Lee, White City, Richard Lynn, Ashland, David Wayne, Central Point, Leslie Dwight Daniel, Applegate, and Robert Alan, Casper, Wyo.; a daughter, Linda Diane Sparks, Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel and Lois, and two brothers, Lloyd and Herbert.

Arrangements: Conger Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Wilbert Lee Patterson

The funeral for Wilbert Lee Patterson will be at 2 p.m. today at Trail Christian Fellowship in Eagle Point. Pastor Will Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be at Little Rock National Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark.

Mr. Patterson, 62, of Trail, died Wednesday (Feb. 21, 2001) at his home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Providence Foundation Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford.

He was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Paris, Texas. On Oct. 17, 1969, he married Carolin Beasley, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley 15 years ago from Southern California.

Mr. Patterson served 25 years in the U.S. Marine Corps.

After retiring from the military, he worked as a consultant for the aerospace industry, and then went into home constructioon

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two stepsons, Eldon Holliday Jr., Olive Branch, Miss., and Todd Holliday, Memphis, Tenn.; and a brother, Weldon, Troy, Texas.

Rudolph Vsetecka, Jr.

The memorial service for Rudolph "Rudy" Joseph Vsetecka Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Rolling Hills Community Church, 3550 S.W. Borland Road, Tualatin. Pastor Ben Bryson of Salem will officiate.

Mr. Vsetecka, 64, of Medford, died Monday (Feb. 19, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1936, in Sargent, Neb., a son of Rudolph and Marie Vsetecka.

On Feb. 8, 1958, in Kennewick, Wash., he married Michaele.

Mr. Vsetecka was raised in the Portland area and graduated from Milwaukee High School. He attended Columbia Broadcasting School in Portland.

He spent 20 years in the Medford area, where he worked in the radio business at KYJC, KOBY, KCMX, and KDRV Channel 12. He moved to Eugene and worked at KPNW and Chambers Communication. He also managed radio stations in Hawaii.

He moved back to Medford in 2000.

Mr. Vsetecka was an Oregon Duck fan and enjoyed golfing, the outdoors, photography and cooking.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Sydney Wiegand, Welches, Karen Wetter, Sherwood, and Kim Baker, Aumsville; two sons, Randy, Aloha, and Richard, Beaverton; his parents, Milwaukee; two brothers, Edward F. and LeRoy A., both Portland; a sister, Maryann A. Jimmison, Gresham; and 10 grandchildren.
