Lillian Mae Keeton
The Memorial Service for Lillian Mae Keeton will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2004 at the Ashland First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Mathers of the Alliance Bible Chapel, Ashland and Pastor Dwayne Robinson of the Ashland First Baptist Church. A private family interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Bible Chapel, 748 Siskiyou Blvd, Ashland, Oregon 97520.
Mrs. Keeton, 86, of Phoenix, died Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Ashland Community Hospital. She was born September 25, 1917 at Salinas, California the daughter of Martha and Edgar Clark. She was raised and attended schools in Salinas.
On June 11, 1949 at Virginia City, Nevada she married Phillip Keeton who preceded her in death in 1983. Following their marriage they settled in Ashland. She moved to Phoenix, Oregon in 1988.
Lillian was active with school activities as her children grew up including Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and the PTA. She bowled on a local bowling league, and attended the Christian Women's Club. She was a member of the Alliance Bible Chapel in Ashland. She enjoyed gardening, family and pets. For a number of years she modeled for Fortmiller's Department store in Ashland as well as several other local clothing stores.
Surviving are: two sons, Kip Keeton and his wife Jeri of Ashland, Kerry Keeton and his wife Olga of Central Point, OR; two daughters Debbie Cameron of Phoenix and Cheryl Damon and her husband Dale of Medford; one brother Edward Clark of Phoenix; two sisters Gladys Gillespie of Phoenix and Marion Truluck and her husband Sam of Sun City, Arizona; and three grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Sandra Wilcox, 56, of Central Point, died Saturday (Jan. 24, 2004) at home. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral and Cremation Center, Ashland.
Helene Louise Wright
Helene Louise Wright, 78, died January 21, 2004 at Linda Vista Care Center. She was born in San Francisco, CA., December 11, 1925 to Winfield and Louise G. Wright. She was employed as an office manager for an accounting firm in San Francisco until her retirement in 1979. She moved to Ashland to care for her mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Milton Jackson and her sister Blanche Dauenhauer. She enjoyed knitting, reading and playing the piano. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families, her dear friend Irene O'Neill and her cat, Kate. A Rosary will be said for Helene at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Saturday, January 31, 2004 at 6:15 P.M. No other services are planned.
Marie Alberta Comtois
Marie Alberta Comtois, who resided at Oak Crest Assisted Living in Phoenix, Oregon since 1997, died January 27, 2004 from complications of age. She was 92 years old. Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, she was married to J. Edward Comtois for 59 years until his death in 1996. Before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1994, they made their home in Lawrence Massachusetts where Mrs. Comtois was a professional singer, concert pianist and vocal coach. She was a featured soloist with "The Vocalaires," a popular singing group appearing on radio in the greater Boston area, and sang for many church and synagogue services there. She is survived by her two children, George Comtois of Florida and Leona Mitchell of Ashland, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her remains will be interred with her husband's in a family plot in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

John Elgian Noble
The graveside service for John Elgian Noble will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Interment will be at Mountain View I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Ashland.
Mr. Noble, 90, of Eagle Point, Oregon died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at home while working on his ranch. A reception will follow at Ed's Oasis in Eagle Point. He was born April 5, 1913 in Lakeview, Oregon to pioneers Julia and John Noble, whose family came west from Kansas in 1891.
Mr. Noble attended schools in Langell Valley, Oregon and later moved to Lakeview where he finished his schooling. The family moved to Ashland in 1927. On September 7, 1937 in Salt Lake City, he married Velma May Matthews, who preceded him in death in 2002. Mr. And Mrs. Noble have ranched in the Eagle Point area since that time.
Mr. Noble was employed as a cowboy on the Brophy Ranch during the 30's. He also worked for the Rogue River Creamery in Central Point, for Medply Inc. and later Boise Cascade. He enjoyed rodeo, breaking horses, working cattle, marking and branding cattle, and riding range.. He loved to spend time with family, neighborhood kids, and visiting with friends and neighbors. He was a lifetime member of the Eagle Point Grange and the Oregon State Grange for over 50 years. He was a member of the Summit Prairie Cattlemans Association and the Jackson County Cattlemens Association,
Survivors include: 2 daughters, Norma Ellen Kuyper and Laura May Assali, both of Eagle Point; 3 sisters, Julia Ann Byrd and Edna Hartwell, both of Medford, and Gertrude Richardson of Lakeview; 4 grandchildren, Russell and Cherayne Kuyper, both of Eagle Point, and Noramay and Desraye Assali, both of Eagle Point; 3 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Elle May Rohde-Kuyper of Eagle Point, and Rylee Mae Kuyper of Texas. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Colleen Ireland Rutchland
"Coco" Rutchland (37) passed away at her Maui residence on Tuesday Morning Feb. 3, 2004.
She was born in Ashland on Oct. 22, 1966; the daughter of the late Richard and Gloria Ireland. She grew up in the Valley View area on her parent's ranch. She attended Ashland schools and graduated from Ashland High in 1984.
On May 28, 1988 she married Ryan Rutchland in Ashland, a painting contractor. The couple had two sons. Coco loved her friends and family greatly. She was involved in the activities of her two boys. She was a wonderful hostess who loved to entertain at her homes in Talent and Medford. Two years ago the family moved to Maui. She worked as a salesclerk.
Mrs. Rutchland is survived by her husband Ryan and sons Kyle and Corey; her three sisters, Carri Six, Connie Ireland, and Corinne Griffin; her brother, Rick Ireland; her grandmother Marie Ireland; her stepmothers, Emma Veary and Serene Ireland; her four stepsisters, Robyn, Kathy, Emily and Liz. She was a joy to us all.
Joseph Pusey
Joseph Pusey, age 48, died at his home in Corvallis, Feb. 2, 2004. Joseph was born June 28, 1955 in Santa Monica, CA to Charles and Jerry (Murray-Aaron) Pusey.
Joseph began playing music at age 7 and played in may Los Angeles bands in the early 1970's. He released a solo album "In My Lady's Chamber" in 1977 and was well known in Oregon and around the globe for his original songs and Middle Eastern music. He was a founding member of Brothers of the Baladi in the late 1970's.
He was musical director for the Oregon Country Fair Gypsy Caravan Stage and Troupe Bayt Al Nejmah. His music was especially well known up and down the Pacific coast. His music and love of life are an inspiration to us all. He was a Mental Health Aide at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center where he was highly instrumental in establishing the union Local 49 of the SEIU.
Joseph is survived by his wife Joanna; daughters, Celisse and Emily; son, Tad; Mother, Jerry; brothers, John and Randy; sisters, Mindy, Molly and Kate; grand daughter, Kaileah; cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father.
There will be a memorial service on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Oddfellows Lodge, 223 SW Second Street in Corvallis. Memorial contributions can be made to Joseph Pusey Memorial Fund at Washington Mutual Bank, 2005 NW Circle Blvd., Corvallis, Oregon, 97330. McHenry Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Keith Thomas Carney
Keith Thomas Carney was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa on November 17th, 1930 to Francis Joseph and Ethel Carney. Mr. Carney, 74, of Ashland, died Friday (Feb. 13, 2004) at his home.
He attended Emmetsburg Catholic Schools graduating in May 1948. After working a year, he enrolled in Emmetsburg Junior College in September 1949 and received a diploma in June 1951. He volunteered for the draft into the U.S. Army in September 1952 and spent two years in Fort Bliss, Texas. In addition to basic training, he attended a nine-month radar course at the Artillery School. He was an instructor on the Corporal missile system for the remainder of his time in the service. He attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in September 1954.
He earned a BA degree in 1956 and a MA degree in 1960 from Iowa State Teachers College (now University of Northern Iowa). In 1976, he earned a Ph.D. in Business Teaching from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He was also an Oregon CPA and Municipal Auditor.
On July 13th, 1957 he married Charlotte Faye Mortimer of Cedar Falls, Iowa. They have four sons: Steven Mark, Michael Thomas, Robert Douglas, and Brian Keith. After teaching at Garnavillo, Iowa (1957-1962) and Estherville, Iowa (1962-1965), he moved the family to Ashland, Oregon in 1965 for a faculty position as an assistant professor of accounting at Southern Oregon College (now Southern Oregon University). He served as the coordinator of the accounting area for several years and for eleven years was the Dean of the School of Business. He retired as a full professor in 1994 and was designated as member of the emeritus faculty.
Four brothers and a sister survive him: John of Holstrom City, Texas; Richard of Sioux City, South Dakota; Daniel of Omaha, Nebraska; Mark of Farmington, New Mexico and Kathleen Moore of Emmetsburg, Iowa He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Ashland and sons Steven and wife Kathi of Aurora, CO; Michael and wife Susan of Issaquah, WA; Robert and wife Nancy of Redmond, WA; and Brian and wife Kellie of Maple Valley, WA. He leaves a proud legacy of ten grandchildren.
Keith was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a great example for his children and students. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland this Wednesday at 11am. A reception will follow. He will be buried in a private ceremony at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Loris Berdeen Crouch
Loris (Lois) Berdeen Crouch, born on Sept. 12, 1928, in Huntington Beach, CA. died Feb. 24, 2004.
Her parents were Arthur and Velma Thompson. She and her parents moved to Ashland from Huntington Beach. She graduated from Ashland High school in 1946.
She met Donald Crouch in 1950 and they were married Dec. 31, 1952. They had 2 children, Lisa Kay and Kevin Lee. The family lived in Ashland until 1974, when they moved to Friday Harbor, WA where they owned and operated a mobile home park. Then in 1987 Lois and Donald moved to Newport, OR where they resided until 1997, when they moved to Puyallup, WA.
