Thelma Revelle
1921-2003
Thelma Revelle of Yoncalla died July 19 of age-related causes. She was 82.
Revelle was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Sawyer, Okla., to Harry and Rosie Eskew Steele. She married J. Melvin Revelle on Oct. 18, 1940. He died in 1996.
She grew up and attended schools in Sawyer.
She moved to Oregon from Oklahoma. She lived in California before returning to Oregon in 1949.
She worked for the Yoncalla School District for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.
She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church in Yoncalla.
Survivors include a son, Don of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Linda VanLoon of Yoncalla; a sister, Bernice Young of Oakland, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A son, Ron, died in 1992.
A memorial service was held July 25 at the Assembly of God Church in Yoncalla. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Donald King
1925-2003
Donald I. King of Cottage Grove died July 19 of congestive heart failure. He was 78.
King was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Nowata, Okla., to Claude and Letha Simmons King. He married Jacqueline Finch in San Francisco on Sept. 26, 1947. She died Nov. 16, 1994.
He grew up and attended schools in Cazadero, Calif. He served in the Marine Corps in Saipan during World War II. He was wounded and received a Purple Heart.
He lived in the California cities of San Francisco and Pacifica for many years before moving to Oregon 30 years ago. He worked as an electronics repairman.
His interests included woodworking and electronics. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He served as a foster father and was a volunteer with the football program at Cottage Grove High School. He was a member of the South Lane Christian Center in Cottage Grove and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Lemati Gang and performed at Bohemia Days where he also worked in the barbecue chicken booth for his church.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol King and Donna King-Cameron, both of Cottage Grove; a brother, Carl of Crescent; and one grandchild. A son, Billy, died previously.
A funeral was held July 25 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel. A graveside service was held at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, Calif.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Fund at the South Lane Christian Center in Cottage Grove.
Elsie Kissell
1963-2003
Elsie Kay "Puff" Kissell of Culp Creek died July 8 at age 40. Her family chose not to list the cause of death.
Kissell was born April 4, 1963, in Salt Lake City to Eddie and Jean Taylor Kissell. In 1976, she moved to Cottage Grove, where she attended Lincoln Middle School.
She attended high school in Creswell.
While living in Arizona, Kissell worked two years as a dancer. Locally, she sold crafts and beadwork at Saturday Market, wrote a book about tie-dying and was a truck driver.
Her interests included children and writing songs and poetry.
Survivors include her parents, Jim and Jean Lawrence of Culp Creek; her domestic partner, Ricky Kephart; a daughter, Tommie Sue Kissell of Cottage Grove; three brothers, Randy Kissell of Muskegon, Mich., Eric Kissell of Eugene and Jimmy Lawrence of Southern California; four sisters, Jody "Pepper" Orr of Gold Hill, and Cindy Vriesman, Jonnie Sue Marshall and Wendie Rainbow, all of Cottage Grove; and one grandchild.
A wake was held July 25 at 39253 Row River Road; a celebration of life open house was held there the next day. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Doris Tonole
1910-2003
Lifelong Cottage Grove resident Doris E. Tonole died July 16 of age-related causes. She was 93.
Tonole was born May 8, 1910, in Cottage Grove to James and Effie McKibben Lebow. She married Anthony Tonole in Eugene on May 27, 1933. He died Sept. 10, 1999.
She was a lifetime resident of Cottage Grove and graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1928.
She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, sewing and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, all in Cottage Grove.
Survivors include a son, Donald of Clackamas; a daughter, Carol Thompson of Moro; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held July 26 at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Shields Cemetery.

Adrienne Perini
1980-2003
Adrienne "Adie" Perini of Drain died July 19 from injuries she suffered in an automobile accident. She was 22.
Perini was born July 28, 1980, in Eugene to Dwayne and Pamela Perini.
She graduated from North Douglas High School. She worked in the deli at IGA and was also employed with Bayliner Boats in Roseburg. She was a lifetime resident of this area.
She enjoyed sports, especially volleyball and basketball.
Survivors include her father of Drain; her mother of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Zach Perini of Drain; her grandparents, Naomi Cox of Yoncalla, Judy and Burt Riedel of Virginia Beach, Bill Learn Sr., of Drain and John Stewart of Ferndale, Calif.; and her great-grandfather, Horace Coleman of Virginia Beach.
A funeral was held July 26 at the Drain Assembly of God Church. Burial was at the Drain Cemetery.
