Laura Lee DeBoard
The graveside service for Laura Lee DeBoard will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Malin Cemetery in Malin.
Mrs. DeBoard, 83, of Medford, died Monday (Feb. 19, 2001) in Medford. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Assembly of God Church, 1225 E. McAndrews, Medford, OR 97504.
She was born Laura Lee Johnson on Feb. 23, 1917, in Paden, Okla. On Jan. 6, 1937, in Caddo, Okla., she married William Earl DeBoard, who died in 2000. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Clinton, Okla.
Mrs. DeBoard was a homemaker.
Survivors include a sister, Lois Rollins, Medford.

Shawna Renee McMaster
The funeral service for Shawna Renee McMaster will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. The private graveside service will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Shawna, 2-month-old daughter of Jennifer Renee Abernathy of Medford and Michael Sean McMaster of Hillsboro, died Thursday (Feb. 15, 2001) at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.
Memorial contributions may be made to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.
She was born Nov. 27, 2000, in Portland.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her grandparents, Randy and Catherine J. McMaster, Medford, and Gerilee Rodriquez, Medford.

Richard Melvin Small
Richard Melvin Small, 76, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (Feb. 17, 2001) at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. A private graveside service will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Chicago. On May 5, 1950, he married Lorraine Gildesgard, who survives. They moved to the Grants Pass area in 1955.
Mr. Small retired from Southern Pacific Railroad.
He enjoyed gardening and was an avid stamp collector.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Richard Michael, Grants Pass, and Randall Timothy, Salem; a daughter, Deborah Jean Small, Eagle River, Alaska; a brother, Donald Small, Fairfield Bay, Ark.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Garold U. Cox
The memorial service for Garold U. Cox will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Evans Valley Bible Church in Rogue River. Elder Sam Reeley will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Cox, 85, of Rogue River, died Sunday (Feb. 18, 2001) at his home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Rockville, Ind. On March 31, 1945, in San Diego, he married Kathryn Sullivan, who survives. They moved to Rogue River from Encino, Calif., in 1963.
Mr. Cox was a welder with the Jackson County Roads Department, retiring in 1978.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Cox was a member of the Rogue River Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Grants Pass American Legion.
He enjoyed fishing and watching cowboy movies.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Jacqueline Wickland, in Illinois; two sons, Garold Wilson, Gilbert, Ariz., and Vince Weaver, Santa Rosa, Calif.; four brothers, Vern, in Arizona, Bill and Darwin, both in Indiana; and Verlin, in Nebraska; four sisters, Rae Ann Morgan, Retha McClure, Ronna Lea Sandlin and Beverly English, all in Indiana; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harold Glenn May Jr.
The graveside service for Harold Glenn May Jr. will be at 1 p.m. today at Eagle Point National Cemetery Interment Shelter.
Mr. May, 58, of Central Point, died Monday (Feb. 19, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 13, 1943, in Glendale, Calif., a son of Harold and Marie May.
Mr. May was a salesman in telemarketing. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1999 from California.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Mr. May enjoyed computers, reading and golf.
Survivors include his wife, Karen May, Medford; two daughters, Danna Rogers, Central Point, and Kathleen Ward, Shady Cove; his mother, Marie May, Phoenix; three brothers, Tony, Phoenix, Jimmy, Portland, and Bobby, Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Gunter, Modesto, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Irene Paulsen
The graveside service for Irene Paulsen will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. The memorial service with reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Medford. The Rev. David Croy and Dr. Ralph Wilson will officiate.
Mrs. Paulsen, 79, of Medford, died Tuesday (Feb. 20, 2001) in Medford.

She was born May 17, 1921, in Enterprise, Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of Jacob and Katie (Laug) Weixel. She grew up in Wishek, N.D. On June 21, 1941, in Los Angeles, she married Donald W. Paulsen, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Los Angeles.
Mrs. Paulsen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medford, where she was active in the Women’s Fellowship Elizabeth Circle.
She enjoyed gardening and baking.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Diane Gail Paulsen, Medford, Connie Lee Thrush, Bandon, and Dawn Denise Degenhart, Encinitas, Calif.; two sisters, Laurine Berglund and Adelia "Mickey" Berglund, both Enderlin, N.D.; a brother, Alvin Weixel, Bismarck, N.D.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

E. Maureen Smith
The memorial service for E. Maureen Smith will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church in Grants Pass. Pastor Steve Burman will officiate. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, Calif.
Ms. Smith, 87, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (Feb. 17, 2001) at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Baldwin, Kan., the daughter of Nicolas and Etta Murphy. She moved to Brookings in 1980 from San Bernardino, Calif., and to Grants Pass in 1986.
Ms. Smith was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
She enjoyed sewing and making crafts.
Survivors include a son, Stan, Grants Pass; four grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Elsie Barbara Payne
The funeral service for Elsie Barbara Payne will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Chapel. Pastor Stan Johnson of West Main Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Crypt at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Payne, 89, of Sams Valley, died Monday (Feb. 19, 2001) at her home.
She was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Gold Hill, a daughter of William and Zora Shoemaker. Her family had settled in Jackson County in 1876. On Aug. 25, 1931, in Grants Pass, she married Lester Floyd Payne, who died in 1965.
Mrs. Payne was a homemaker. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
She enjoyed flowers, her yard and gardening.
Survivors include her companion, George Fredenburg, Sams Valley; a son, Harold, Central Point, a daughter, Clara Weaver, Brookings; a brother, Alvy Shoemaker, Merlin; two sisters, Irene Ewing, and Dorothy Whipkey, both Medford; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
