Edna Mae Kelso
The memorial service for Edna Mae Kelso will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lundberg’s L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass. Pastor Wes Winn of the First Christian Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Kelso, 89, of Grants Pass, died Feb. 26, 2001 at Fairview Transitional Health Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
She was born Feb. 4, 1912, in Rome, Ga. In 1929, in Knoxville, Tenn., she married Ray Kelso, who died in 1994. They moved to Grants Pass in 1964 from San Francisco.
Mrs. Kelso enjoyed traveling and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Lynn, Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Dorothy Gibson, San Francisco, Betty Plumly, Flintstone, Ga., and Patty Williamson, Chickamauga, Ga.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Yvonne Virdell Hodgson
The memorial service for Yvonne Virdell Hodgson will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ashland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Ms. Hodgson, 73, of Keizer, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (March 3, 2001) in Keizer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jehovah’s Witnesses, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
She was born Yvonne Van Duzee on Oct. 4, 1927, in Milwaukee.
Ms. Hodgson was a homemaker. She lived in the Medford area for 2˝ years.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include three daughters, Reneé Pister, Moses Lake, Wash., Cheryl Elbek, Wallkill, N.Y., and Gigi Lucy, Yreka, Calif.; a son, Ron, Keizer; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sheila Winters Doyle
The memorial service for Sheila Winters Doyle will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shepherd of the Valley Church in Central Point. The Rev. Jim Clifford will officiate.
Ms. Doyle, 56, of Medford, died Friday (March 2, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 South Pacific Highway, Phoenix, OR 97535.
She was born May 3, 1944, in Arcadia, Fla. She moved to the Rogue Valley from California 18 years ago.
Ms. Doyle worked at the Medford Clinic for five years, for the Drug and Alcohol Council at Serenity Lane for two years and also at the Community Health Center.
She enjoyed crafts, fishing, Shakespeare and whale watching.
Survivors include a son, Scott Dater, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and a sister, Diana Readence, Medford. She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew.

John Daniel Blasen Jr.
John Daniel Blasen Jr., 74, of Ashland, died Thursday (March 1, 2001) at an Ashland care facility. A private service is planned. Inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
He was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Tillamook, the son of John and Gladyse Phillips Blasen Sr. In 1995, in Portland, he married Lynette West, who died in 1998. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from Salem, where he had lived for eight years.
Mr. Blasen was a graphic designer and fine artist in the Portland and San Francisco areas.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Blasen enjoyed fishing, photography and painting.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron, Ashland, and Eric, Fairfax, Calif.; a daughter, Jeri Dawn Root, in Maryland; a sister, Marilyn Roecker, Beaverton; and four grandchildren.

Lois P. Halfhill
The memorial service for Lois P. Halfhill will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
Mrs. Halfhill, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (March 1, 2001).
She was born May 5, 1916, in Mississippi, a daughter of George and Eleanor Powell.
Mrs. Halfhill was a volunteer for Enid Rankin Center and Sojourners.
She enjoyed sewing, cards and gardening.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde, Medford, Jim, in California, and Jerry, in Washington; a sister, Dorothy Whatley, in Georgia; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Frank Wendell Hammond
The memorial service for Frank Wendell Hammond will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Retirement Home, 548 N. Main St., Ashland. The Rev. Scott Dalgarno of the First Presbyterian Church of Ashland will officiate.
Mr. Hammond, 80, died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Ashland Community Hospital.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Schools Foundation, Frank Hammond Library Fund, 100 Walker Ave., Ashland, OR 97520.
He was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Clinton County, Iowa, and moved to Los Angeles in 1940. In 1943, in Los Angeles, he married Jean Harvey, who died in 1990.
Mr. Hammond was an aircraft mechanic in Europe during World War II. He was a construction electrician with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power until his retirement in 1980.
He moved to Ashland in 1993, where he volunteered at the Visitor’s Information Center and the Natural History Museum.
Mr. Hammond lived at Mountain View Retirement Home, where his informal bi-weekly sessions, "Music With Frank" were a popular weekend entertainment.
Survivors include a son, Don, Ashland; a daughter, Deborah Riddle, Beaver Falls, Pa.; a sister, Joyce Brown, Maquoketa, Iowa; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four younger brothers, Gilbert, Wilbur, Don and Ray.

Donald Lee Hicks
The memorial service for Donald Lee Hicks will be held at 2 p.m. today (March 4, 2001) at his home. His brother, Clyde Hicks, will officiate.

Mr. Hicks, 67, of Jacksonville died Thursday (March 1, 2001) at his home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Herman, Neb. On Jan. 21, 1955, in Las Vegas, he married Myrna Michael, who survives.
They moved to the Rogue Valley 11 years ago from Los Angeles.
Mr. Hicks was the chief engineer, in charge of all the buildings he worked in. He retired as an operating engineer in 1990. He was a member of Local Operating Engineers No. 501.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, driving his dump truck and spending time with his granddaughter, Kayla.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Donna Christine Bitter, Chicago Park, Calif., and Becky Lynn Hicks, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; two brothers, Norval Keith Hicks, Hesperia, Calif., and Clyde LeRoy Hicks, Jacksonville; three sisters, Flora Elaine Zinc, Yakima, Wash., Janice Ruth Bourdon, Medford, and Nola Kay Allioth, Lancaster, Calif.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
