Sylvester Keener
The funeral service for Sylvester Keener will be held Saturday at Memory Garden Memorial Park and Mortuary in Brea, Calif.
Mr. Keener, 85, of Talent, died Tuesday (March 13, 2001) at his home.
He was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Wetump, Okla., the son of Jesse Wayman Keener and Mary Adeline Glispi.
Mr. Keener was the head of the Los Angeles County Mechanical Department for 35 years until his retirement. He had lived in the Rogue Valley for 27 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, Talent; two daughters, two sisters; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Harold O. Parsons
A celebration of the life of Harold O. Parsons will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Escalon United Methodist Church in Escalon, Calif. The Rev. Dick Shrader of Hughson United Methodist Church and the Rev. John Broad of Escalon United Methodist Church will officiate.
Mr. Parsons, 64, of Gold Hill, died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
Among his survivors is a stepson, Michael James, Citrus Heights, Calif., and a stepdaughter, Michele Fanning, Modesto, Calif.
The survivors were listed incorrectly in Tuesday’s obituary.
James Edward Moffett
The memorial service for James Edward Moffett will be at 11 a.m. today at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass. The Rev. Molly Means and the Grants Pass Fleet Reserve will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Marine Corps League. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Moffett, 76, of Grants Pass, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Washington Campus., Grants Pass.

He was born Aug. 24, 1924, in McKinney, Texas. On June 8, 1952, at Parris Island, S.C., he married Joyce Matthews, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in 1975.
Mr. Moffett enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17, and trained at the Naval Training Command in San Diego. He then entered the Hospital Corps School in San Diego. He served aboard several ships during World War II and was stationed at the Navy Hospital in Honolulu. He was also stationed at Ream Field in San Diego and Parris Island in South Carolina. He finished his last tour of duty at the Marine Corps Recruiting Station in Los Angeles, retiring after 22 years of service.
He then went to work for the Motion Picture and TV industry First Aid Union in Hollywood for 25 years, retiring in 1975.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Robert, Grants Pass, a daughter, Kathryn Watson, Grants Pass; a sister, Joy Ardizzone, Auburn, Calif.; and three grandsons.

Carl A. Exner Jr.
Carl A. Exner Jr., 76, of Castle Rock, Wash., formerly of Medford, died March 2, 2001, in Castle Rock. The memorial service was held on March 8 in Castle Rock.
He was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Ojai, Calif. He attended Santa Barbara State College in California. In 1950, in Eureka, Calif., he married Geraldine Marvin, who survives. They lived in Medford from 1979 to 2000.
Mr. Exner worked for the U.S. Forest Service in California and Central and Southern Oregon where he was heavily involved in fire suppression. He retired in 1979.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Exner was a member of the Southern Oregon Kennel Club.
He enjoyed hunting, horse packing and raising Chesapeake Bay retrievers.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Carl A. III, Sandy, and Matthew, Paradise, Texas; five daughters, Frances Holdorf, Redmond, Sandra Graham, Salem, Molly Exner-Howell, Castle Rock, Wash., Mary Comrie, Clinton, Utah, Elizabeth McCluney, Gambrills, Md.; two sisters, Alice Traegler, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Jean Stevenson, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Dakin.

Rosemary M. Roubal
The memorial service for Rosemary M. Roubal will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors Chapel, 612 N.W. A. St., Grants Pass. The Rev. William Dillard will officiate.
Mrs. Roubal, 78, of Medford, died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at Three Fountains Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Limon, Colo. She moved to Southern Oregon in 1979 from Los Angeles, and lived in various communities throughout the Rogue Valley.
Mrs. Roubal owned and operated Bel Di’s Restaurant in Shady Cove for several years.
She enjoyed playing bridge.
Survivors include her husband, John "Ed" Roubal, Medford; a son, Thomas, Roseburg; two sisters, Dorothy Bordner, Shady Cove, and Margaret Boise, Stockton, Calif.; and a granddaughter.

Robert Emmanuel Rush
The memorial service for Robert Emmanuel Rush will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bridgeview Community Church in Cave Junction. Pastor Charles Bridges will officiate.
Mr. Rush, 68, of Cave Junction, died Feb. 26, 2001, at Hearthstone.

He was born March 3, 1932, in Philadelphia. On Feb. 12, 1955, in Sioux Falls, S.D., he married Marjorie Ryan, who survives.
Mr. Rush attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and was accepted by Village Missions as a missionary in 1958. He served as a missionary for 42 years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant, earning three Medals of Honor.
Mr. Rush was a volunteer fireman and emergency medical technician in Valleyford, Wash.
He enjoyed practical jokes, camping and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Dan, Tacoma, Wash., and David, Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Thomas Josiah Boothby
The funeral for Thomas "Tom" Josiah Boothby Jr. will be at 1 p.m. today at Conger Morris Chapel in Medford.
Mr. Boothby, 79, of Medford, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at Ashland Community Hospital.

He was born July 20, 1921, in Corvallis, the first son of Thomas Josiah and Winnie Boothby. He first moved to the Rogue Valley in 1927 when his father was engaged to work on the Medford water system. He graduated from Corvallis High School in 1939; from the University of Oregon in 1949; and received his master’s degree from Portland State University. On May 6, 1945, he married Erma F. Haughawout, who survives.
Mr. Boothby retired from teaching in 1972.
He served in the U.S. Army 41st Division, M Company, 162nd Infantry Regiment.
Mr. Boothby was an avid reader and an enthusiastic traveler.
Survivors include his former wife, Erma F. Boothby, Jacksonville; a son, Brian G., Medford; three daughters, Catherine V. Brown, The Dalles, Margaret A. Leonard, Portland, and Barbara J. Boothby, Bellingham, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Winston.
