Larry James Normile
Larry James Normile, 54, of Medford, died Sunday (April 8, 2001) at his home. A private service will be held.
He was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Martinez, Calif. On Nov. 25, 1972, in Antioch, Calif., he married Kathy Pacheco, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Concord, Calif.
Mr. Normile was a dishwasher at PrimeTime Senior Living Center in Medford.
He was a Raiders fan, a collector of old model cars, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Shane, Medford; a daughter, Sarah Darden, Medford; a brother, Wayne, Martinez, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Harry F. Cassell
The funeral service for Harry F. Cassell will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Litwiller-Simonsen Chapel in Ashland. The Rev. Bill Hare will officiate. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fir Lawn Cemetery, Hillsboro.
Mr. Cassell, 69, of Ashland, died Wednesday (April 11, 2001) at his home.

He was born July 6, 1931, in Ord, Neb., a son of Herman and Ruby G. (Pooschke) Cassell. He attended elementary school in North Plains, and graduated from Hillsboro High School. On Feb. 10, 1950, in Vancouver, Wash., he married Darlene Kirtley, who survives.
Mr. Cassell was a heavy equipment operator in construction for 35 years, retiring in 1992. After he retired, he sold real estate in the Rogue Valley for 10 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Engineers from 1949 to 1952.
Mr. Cassell enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and painting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Cathy Williams, Bend, and Cleda Amerson, Medford; a brother, Robert, Central Point; a sister, Ramona Van Domelen; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas; a daughter, Karen Cassell; and a brother, Milford.

Hanna Rieke Gomperts
Hanna Rieke Gomperts, 90, of Phoenix, formerly of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (April 11, 2001) at her home. No service is planned.
She was born April 6, 1911, in Amsterdam, Holland. She received a degree in nursing and moved to Palestine in 1936, where she met and married Frits Gomperts, who died in 1996, two days after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
The Gompertses spent 3 ˝ years in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in the Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia. They emigrated to the United States in 1948, living in the San Francisco Bay area.
Mrs. Gomperts was a bookkeeper for 24 years in the family business, Gomperts Camera Center in Menlo Park, Calif. Following her retirement in 1981, she and her husband moved to Grants Pass.
She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include a son, John, Talent; a sister, Ida Kattenburg, San Carlos, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Mark Allan Tesdal
Mark Allan Tesdal, 42, of Medford, died Wednesday (April 11, 2001) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born Feb. 4, 1959, in Medford, and lived in the Rogue Valley most of his life.
Mr. Tesdal had been a moulding and cutstock worker in the mills and metal industry.
He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include a brother, Lane, Green River, Wyo.; and a sister, Susan Haines, Medford. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Mae D. Spence
The memorial open house for Mae D. Spence will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in Horton Plaza’s Elsie Butler Room, 1122 Spring St., Medford.
Mrs. Spence, 98, of Medford, died Monday (April 9, 2001) at her home.

She was born Feb. 27, 1903, in Paris, Texas. On Sept. 21, 1957, in San Francisco, she married Gerald M. Spence, who died in 1992. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1982.
Mrs. Spence was a cosmetics salesperson for several years.
She enjoyed doing ceramics, baking and playing card games.
Survivors include a son, Robert R. Zeemin, Turner; two stepsons, Gerry L. Spence, Jackson, Wyo., and Tom Spence, Buffalo, Wyo.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Davidson, Takoma Park, Md.; a brother, E.L. Hightower, Carrollton, Texas; a sister, Mimi D. Wilson, Medford; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Zeemin; and a brother, Archie Dingman.

Terrence Bruce Robinson
Terrence Bruce Robinson, 47, of Medford, died Thursday (April 12, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held later.
He was born Oct. 6, 1953, in South Gate, Calif., a son of Russell H. and Barbara J. (Jordan) Robinson. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1975 from Southern California.
Mr. Robinson was an avid reader.
Survivors include five brothers: Robert J., Talent; Michael T., Cleveland, Ohio; Christopher J., Tokyo, Japan; David R., Roseburg, and Kevin D., Boise, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cecilia M. Bieraugel
The memorial Mass for Cecilia Margaret Bieraugel will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Liam Carey will officiate. Inurnment will be in New Ulm, Minn., at a later date.
Mrs. Bieraugel, 87, of Medford, died Wednesday (April 11, 2001) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She was born May 12, 1913, in New Ulm, Minn. On Sept. 16, 1935, in New Ulm, she married Raymond Bieraugel, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bieraugel was a homemaker. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1996.
She was a seamstress, and enjoyed gardening and raising African violets.
Survivors include a son, Ronald, Medford; two daughters, Dr. Jean Bieraugel, Eagle Point, and Lois Bucak, Palos Hills, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son; three sisters; and two brothers.

Philip A. ‘Pete’ Murray
Philip A. "Pete" Murray, 82, of Medford, died Thursday (April 12, 2001) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center. No service is planned.

He was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Albany, Ga. He graduated from Albany High School in Georgia and from North Georgia College. He also attended Auburn University in Alabama, Northwestern University in Chicago, and the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. He received a bachelor’s degree in education. On March 2, 1944, in Albany, Ga., he married Nannien Geoghegan, who survives.
Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1960, on destroyers, cruisers and amphibious ships. He was aboard the U.S. destroyer USS Mugford on Dec. 7, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was attacked, and spent 3˝ years in the Pacific Theater during the war. He retired as a commander in 1960.
Following his retirement from the Navy, he taught junior high school in Dade County, Fla. for 17 years, retiring in 1977. He moved to Vero Beach in 1978, and to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Vero Beach, Fla.
Mr. Murray was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors, Retired Officers Association.
He enjoyed photography, fishing and boating.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Philip Bruce, Grants Pass, and Stephen A., Evergreen, Colo.; and three grandchildren; He was preceded in death by a sister.
