Arlo Nathan Duncan
Arlo Nathan Duncan, 81, of Jacksonville, died April 24, 2001, at a foster care home in Central Point. No service is planned.
He was born April 27, 1919, in Lebanon. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1949 with a degree in engineering and a master's in teaching.
Mr. Duncan was a teacher, as well as the principal at Myrtle Crest Middle School. He lived in Myrtle Point from 1949 to 1962. He then lived in California, and moved to Jacksonville 11 years ago.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason, and was a member of Myrtle Point Masonic Lodge No 78. He was also a Boy Scout leader.
Mr. Duncan enjoyed reading, camping and traveling.
Survivors include four daughters, Arlis Duncan, Jacksonville, Terry Canavello-Roselle, Grants Pass, Cheryl Duncan, Los Angeles, and Leslie Winslow, Walnut Creek, Calif.; a sister, Anella Hunt, Talent; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Delbert Wayne Mayfield
Delbert Wayne Mayfield, 64, of Phoenix, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born May 15, 1936, in Medford. On June 6, 1981, in Santa Ana, Calif., he married Gayleen Spears, who survives.
Mr. Mayfield worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. He then worked as night auditor for the Red Lion Hotel in Medford for 10 years.
He enjoyed fishing, reading and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Steven, Medford, and Jeff, Garland, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Robert Edgar Driskell
The memorial service for Robert Edgar Driskell will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor John Adams of Butte Falls Community Bible Church, and the Rev. Steve Harvey of Butte Falls Assembly of God will officiate.
Mr. Driskell, 76, of Butte Falls, died Friday (April 27, 2001) at his home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Burns Lake, Canada, a son of David and Helen Driskell. On Aug. 17, 1947, in Medford, he married Betty Louise Hodgson, who died in 1995.
Mr. Driskell was a loader operator at Medford Corp., retiring after 38 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Driskell, known as "Grandpa Bob, " worked with the Butte Falls kindergarten class for seven years as an adopted grandpa, helping the kindergartners learn to read. He was a life member of the NRA.
He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, camping and hunting.
Survivors include a son, James, Butte Falls; a brother, John W., Medford; and two granddaughters. Two brothers, James B. and Donald D., preceded him in death.

Larry Lee Sauer
The memorial service for Larry Lee Sauer will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Phoenix Church of Christ. Pastor David Humphries will officiate. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Sauer, 50, of Phoenix, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at Faith Adult Care Home, Ashland.
He was born May 13, 1950, in Redding, Calif. He graduated from Phoenix High School in 1969, and lived in the Rogue Valley all his life. On Sept. 19, 1972, in Jacksonville, he married Lenore Hunt, who survives.
Mr. Sauer was a log truck driver with Plumley Contracting in Medford for 27 years.
He was a member of the Phoenix Church of Christ.
Mr. Sauer was the founder of the Mud Springs Racing Team, and enjoyed driving race cars and motorcycles. He was an avid archer and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Michael, Phoenix; his mother, Ruth Sauer, Phoenix; and a brother, Leslie, Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his father, Lauren; and a brother, Reggie.

Sharon Ann Snyder
Sharon Ann Snyder, 61, of Medford, died Sunday (April 29, 2001) in Medford. No service is planned.

She was born June 30, 1939, in Medford and lived in the Rogue Valley all her life.
Ms. Snyder was a receptionist at the Medford Clinic.
She started the first multiple sclerosis group in the Rogue Valley. She also coached Little League teams when her children were young.
Ms. Snyder enjoyed reading, arts, crafts and painting.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Medford; two daughters, Elizabeth Dean, and Corey Galligher, Medford; two brothers, Joe Massey, Medford, and Charles Massey, in Hawaii; a sister, Lyla Vance, Medford; and five grandchildren.

Betty Hefley
Betty Hefley, 77, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (April 26, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. The service was held at Eagle Point Community Bible Church.

Vincent L. Armstrong
Vincent LeRoy Armstrong, 83, of Medford, died April 25, 2001, at his home. No service is planned.

He was born Dec. 31, 1917, in North Yakima, Wash. He graduated from Yakima High School and attended Yakima Community College. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959. On July 4, 1959, in Yakima, Wash., he married Marguerite McCulley, who survives.
Mr. Armstrong worked in sales for Pittsburgh Paint Co., retiring in 1980.
He was a lifetime member of the Central Point Masonic Lodge; was a member of the Computer Aces, and was a supporter of the Jackson County Humane Society. He was a past reader of the Christian Science Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, James, Bellingham, Wash.; three daughters, Faune Williams, Bend, Connie Hansen, Medford, and Janice Hirst, Elma, Wash.; a sister, Janice Hirst, Elma, Wash./ six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin.

William C. Thomas
William C. Thomas, 72, of Grants Pass, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at his home. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Oahu, Hawaii, and was raised in Chula Vista, Calif. He moved to Grants Pass in 1989 from San Diego. In 1953, he received a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Texas .
Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy and the Coast Guard.
He worked for what is now Union Bank as senior vice president until his retirement.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the Grants Pass senior bowling league and served on the board of Three Rivers Community Hospital. He was former president of the Santee Water District and served on the board of the San Diego Youth Symphony and the San Diego Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta.
He enjoyed raising Suffolk sheep and gourmet cooking.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa; a daughter, Cheryl Bradford, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; two sons, Warren, Pasadena, Calif., and William, Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Don, San Jose, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
