William Garcia
The memorial service for William Garcia will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wolf Creek Alliance Church. The Rev. James Roberts will officiate.
Mr. Garcia, 75, of Sunny Valley, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass.
He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Hollister, Calif. In 1952, he married Billie Jean Caraway, who survives.
Mr. Garcia was a deputy sheriff in San Benito and Plumas counties in California for eight years. In 1964, he and his family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked as a sheet metal journeyman until he was forced to retire due to lung problems. He and his wife then moved to Sunny Valley.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was stationed on Okinawa, Japan, at the end of the war.
Mr. Garcia enjoyed hunting, fishing and going south in the winter.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Rene Kummer, Wolf Creek, and Shelly Robinson, Escondido, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Delpha Fay Goodin
Delpha Fay Goodin, 78, of Medford, died Saturday (April 28, 2001, at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Durango, Colo.
Ms. Goodin was a trust officer at the main branch of Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco for many years. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991 from Pacifica, Calif.
She was a member of the Church of Christ on Siskiyou Boulevard in Medford and the Miniature Enthusiasts of the Rogue Valley.
Ms. Goodin enjoyed crafts and helping people.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Blackford, Medford; three brothers, Dearl Hooten, Eagle Point, Gilbert Goodin, Napa, Calif., and Wilmer Hooten, Indianapolis; two sisters, Katherine Melinsky, Sacramento, Calif., and Sadie Meyers, Santa Rosa, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her former husband; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Edward F. Buettner
The memorial service for Edward F. Buettner will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Medford. Pastor Alan Jackson will officiate.
Mr. Buettner, 78, of Medford, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
He was born May 4, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Edward and Helen (Ganun) Buettner. On April 24, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, he married Katharine L. Lehman, who survives.
Mr. Buettner was an insurance underwriter in Bombay, Calcutta, Tokyo and San Francisco until his retirement. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Pacific Grove, Calif.
He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II.
Mr. Buettner was an artist, producing paintings and woodwork.
He enjoyed history and golf.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Brook E., Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Barbara N. Buettner, Medford, and Holly A. Stephens, Novato, Calif.; a sister, Virginia Irlam, in California; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Peggy M. Haymond
Peggy M. Haymond, 82, of Ashland, died Friday (April 27, 2001) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Dec. 1, 1918, in La Grange, Ill., a daughter of Ray and Adele (Bell) Haymond.
Ms. Haymond retired in 1989. She had lived in Ashland since 1995.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Bewick and Fran Haymond, both Ashland, and Martha Haymond, San Carlos, Calif.; a sister, Jean Van Sickle, Los Angeles; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Don Wilson Koeninger
The memorial service for Don Wilson Koeninger will be at 2 p.m. today at Applegate Christian Fellowship. Pastor Jim Wright will officiate. A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Koeninger, 53, of Medford, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born May 10, 1947, in Lamesa, Texas, a son of Burl and Freddie Marie Koeninger. On Feb. 16, 1980, in Albuquerque, N.M., he married Peggy C. Blakney, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley five years ago from Yreka, Calif.
Mr. Koeninger was a contractor.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Koeninger was a member of Applegate Christian Fellowship.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Jordan and Brian, both Medford; a daughter, Lauren Koeninger, Medford; and a brother, Robert, Phoenix, Ariz.

Ellen McGhehey
Ellen McGhehey, 95, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass. Arrangements will be announced by Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.
Anita Louise Thanos
The memorial service for Anita Louise Thanos will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, in Ronan, Mont.
Mrs. Thanos, 56, of Medford, died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at her home.
She was born Nov. 29, 1944, in Great Falls, Mont., a daughter of Leonard and Evelyn Peavler. On Oct. 30, 1965, in Grand Falls, N.D., she married James Thanos, who preceded her in death. She lived in the Rogue Valley for 25 years.
Mrs. Thanos enjoyed traveling, bowling, plants and her cats.
Survivors include her mother, Evelyn Peavler, Charlo, Mont.; seven sisters, Joan Jacques, Diane Buckley, Bonnie Phipps, Ruthie Smith and Denise McGinley, all in Montana, Sueann Camero, in California, and Anella Rogers, in Washington; and two brothers, Dave and Glenn Peavler, both in Montana. She was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Peavler; and a sister, Loretta Boyer.

Rosa Alice Meadows
Rosa Alice Meadows, 86, of Medford, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at her home. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
She was born R. Alice Bryant on Sept. 13, 1914, in Toms Creek, Va. On March 17, 1934, in Charleston, W.Va., she married C. Carl Meadows, who died in 1980. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1934.
Mrs. Meadows was a food server in the Jacksonville Elementary School cafeteria for several years before her retirement.
Survivors include two sisters, Virginia O'Meara, Fayetteville, N.C., and Ethel Combs, Central Point. She was preceded in death by a sister, Uva Basham; and a brother, Wythe Bryant.

Eddie Gene Mott
The graveside service for Eddie Gene Mott will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Brownsboro Cemetery in Eagle Point. Pastor Darell Backus of Brownsboro Community Church will officiate.
Mr. Mott, 48, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at his home.

He was born July 29, 1952, in Medford, the son of Grady and Doris Mott. He attended schools in the Rogue Valley, including Medford High School, and lived in the Rogue Valley all his life. On May 9, 1997, in Zephyr Cove, Nev., he married Christine Gesior, who survives.
Mr. Mott was a heavy equipment operator at Bio-mass One in White City.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Mott enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and working on cars.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jonathan, Fort Klamath; two daughters, Clifina Mott, Grants Pass, and Susan Mott-Ragel, Central Point; a foster brother, Eddie Lee Phillips, Central Point; two sisters, Diane Putnam, Grants Pass, and Kathleen Blackmon, San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Doris Mott.
