Elmer L. Froschauer

The graveside service for Elmer L. Froschauer will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mr. Froschauer, 84, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (May 2, 2001) at Hearthstone in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, Inc., Southern Oregon Chapter, 2860 State St., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of Sophronia and Henry Froschauer. On May 24, 1941, in Los Angeles, he married Bonita Bowman, who died in 1992.

Mr. Froschauer was a police officer for the city of Los Angeles in the early 1950s. For many years he and his wife served as missionaries to Borneo, Costa Rica and Mexico. They moved to Phoenix from North Hollywood, Calif., in 1980.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and attended Ashland Christian Fellowship.

Survivors include a son, Bob, Ashland; two daughters, Linda Whitlow and Gail Froschauer, both Medford; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Roy A. Smith

The memorial service for Roy A. Smith will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Pastor Jim Larsen of the Christian Church of Ashland will officiate. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Smith, 84, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at Hearthstone.

He was born Feb. 11, 1917, in Tower City, N.D. On Dec. 12, 1944, in Vancouver, Wash., he married Dorothy E. Hanna, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1947 from North Dakota.

Mr. Smith worked for McGrew Brothers Sawmill in Ashland for 30 years, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of the Medford Eagles.

Mr. Smith enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and hunting.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Alvin, Medford; a daughter, Elsie Williams, Medford; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel; three sisters; and two brothers.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Lloyd Dean Seaman Jr.

The graveside service for Lloyd Dean Seaman Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Jacksonville Cemetery. Bishop Sybrant of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate.

Mr. Seaman, 33, of Medford, died Sunday (April 29, 2001) in White City, in an automobile accident.

He was born Oct. 24, 1967, in Los Angeles. He attended Rogue Valley schools and graduated from South Medford High School.

Mr. Seaman owned and operated an auto body repair shop.

He enjoyed fishing and electronics.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd Dean III, Klamath Falls; his father, Lloyd Dean Sr., Ruch; his mother, Joan S. Wilder, Medford; a brother, Ron, South Bend; and a sister, Dawn Henderson, Medford.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

Clinton A. Whitlow

Clinton A. Whitlow, 72, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (May 2, 2001) at Hearthstone in Medford. The service will be announced at a later date.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille Fay, Phoenix; two brothers, John Robert, Albany, and Thomas J., Long Beach, Calif.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.

Roland Dean Welburn

Roland Dean Welburn, 57, of Dallas, Ore., formerly of Talent, died Friday (April 27, 2001). The service has been held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Bollman Funeral Home, 694 Main St., Dallas, OR 97338.

He was born in Ashland on Sept. 3, 1943, and was raised in Talent. In 1963, he married Marcy Willoughby, who survives.

Mr. Welburn worked in a sawmill in Medford. In 1980, he moved to Dallas, then relocated to Reno, Nev., where he was a steel mill foreman. He retired in 1988, and returned to Dallas in 1991.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking drives and watching sports.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Shawna VanBuskirk and Shelly Lesiak, both Dallas; a son, Rod, Sweet Home; nine sisters, Doris, Ruby, Earlene, Eva, Pauline and Gladys, all in Oregon, Christine, in Wisconsin, Lily, in Alaska, and Genevieve, in California; four brothers, George, Lowell, Don and Ron, all in Oregon; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother; and a sister.

Arrangements: Bollman Funeral Home, Dallas.

Nancy J. Oliver Gordon

Nancy Jane Oliver Gordon, 77, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service was held. The memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 60 Hawthorne St., Medford, OR 97504, or to a favorite charity.

She was born June 1, 1923, in Hobart Mills, Calif. She graduated from Susanville High School in California in 1941, and attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1941 to 1944. On Dec. 20, 1945, in Berkeley, Calif., she married Keith Gordon, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1957 from Sacramento, Calif.

Mrs. Gordon was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She also volunteered as a pink lady at Rogue Valley Medical Center, where she earned a 1000-hour pin.

She was a member of the Colony Club and a Medford book club.

Mrs. Gordon enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, needlework and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Michael, Boulder Creek, Calif., and Bruce, Sydney, Australia; two daughters, Jane Boening and Anne Barry, both Medford; a brother, Thomas "Tim" Oliver Jr., Durham, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Adelle 'Susie' Green

The graveside service for Adelle "Susie" Green will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. William Gourley, director of Medford Gospel Mission, will officiate.

Mrs. Green, 80, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medford Gospel Mission, 409 Front St., Medford, OR 97501.

She was born July 11, 1920, in Miami, N.M., a daughter of John and Madge McDevitt. On April 30, 1942, in South Bend, she married Al Green, who died in 1999. She lived in Klamath Falls in the early 1940s and in Crescent City, Calif., from 1950 to 1970. She moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago from Sacramento, Calif.

Mrs. Green enjoyed crafts.

Survivors include two sons, John L., Medford, and Ed, Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Sue Templeton, Springfield, Ill.; a sister, Audrey Burgess, Eagle Point; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Cleon Lorraine Hrankay

Cleon Lorraine Hrankay, 80, of Grants Pass, died Friday (April 27, 2001) at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Grants Pass. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Grants Pass.

She was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Terre Haute, Ind., a daughter of Paul and Adeline Randal. On June 6, 1941, in Chicago, she married Anton Hrankay, who died in 1981. They moved to Grants Pass from Chicago in 1951.

Mrs. Hrankay raised Doberman pinschers and was a member of the Southern Oregon Kennel Club. She was also a member and volunteer at the Southern Oregon Humane Society. During the 1960s and 70s, she was very active as a 4-H leader in the horse training program.

She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Denise Wickersham and Kim Loros, both Grants Pass; a sister, LaVern Winick, Miami Beach; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.
