Irene Ernestine Buck
The memorial service for Irene Ernestine Buck will be held today at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville. The Rev. Roger Hill will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Buck, 80, of Medford, died Thursday (May 3, 2001) at Hearthstone.
She was born Irene Ernestine Miller on May 1, 1921, in Russell, N.D., a daughter of Frederick and Edna Miller. On Oct. 31, 1941, in Great Falls, Mont., she married Harold L. Buck, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1983.
Mrs. Buck was a member of the Lutheran Church in California. She enjoyed homemaking, crafts and painting.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Stella Cordes, Medford; a son, Bruce Buck, Lancaster, Calif.; a brother, Raymond Miller, Deering, N.D.; six sisters, Doris Mueller and Helen Borgan, Minot, N.D., Viola Gabriel, Spokane, Betty Hansen, Granville, N.D., Eileen Zick, Durango, N.D., Carol Norsby, Sequim, Wash.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Scott Cordes.

Roy A. Smith
The memorial service for Roy A. Smith will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford. Pastor Jim Larsen of the Christian Church of Ashland will officiate.
Mr. Smith, 84, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at Hearthstone.

Claudette Mary Speaks
Family and friends of Claudette Mary Speaks will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Valley Chapel in Central Point.
Mrs. Speaks, 45, of Gold Hill, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at her home.
She was born March 11, 1956, in Cohoes, N.Y., a daughter of Henry and Annette (Couture) Ekmalian. On May 30, 1979, at Lake Tahoe, Nev., she married Gary A. Speaks, who survives. They moved to Gold Hill in 1994 from Fresno, Calif.
She received a bachelor's degree from Southern Oregon University, and a teaching degree in 1999.
Mrs. Speaks was the co-owner of G.S.A. Computer Wholesale Corp., based in Medford.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Christopher Shannon, Medford; two daughters, Jennifer Ryan and Samantha Robyn Speaks, both Gold Hill; her mother and stepfather, Annette L. and Nate Anderson, Oakland, Calif.; three brothers, Henry Paul Ekmalian, Lakewood, Calif., John Paul Ekmalian, San Diego, and Peter John Ekmalian, Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Paulette Ruth Parks, Las Vegas, and Annette Marie Ekmalian, Fresno, Calif.; and her grandmother, Varanouche Kalvstian, Fresno, Calif.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point.
Dorothy A. Jones Reeves
The funeral for Dorothy Arlene Jones Reeves will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Chapel. Pastor Jay Wolfman of Word of Life Church will officiate. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Reeves, 69, of Medford, died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at her home.

She was born May 5, 1931, in Merrill, a daughter of Arlie and Mary (Mann) Ayers. In 1971, in Klamath Falls, she married Levi Reeves, who survives.
Mrs. Reeves and her husband operated a foster care home for children for many years. She lived in the Rogue Valley for 27 years.
She enjoyed camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include six sons, Rick Ledbetter, Ron Ledbetter, Shane Jones and Brent Jones, all Medford, Larry Fanning, Eagle Point, and Gary Fanning, Klamath Falls; a stepson, Levi Reeves Jr., San Diego; three daughters, Mary Breedlove, Tanya Ledbetter and Marin Ware Reeves, all Medford; two stepdaughters, Traci Williams, Medford, and Sara Reeves, Klamath Falls; three brothers, Arlie Ayers Jr., James Ayers and William Ayers, all Klamath Falls; a sister, Bernice Sharp, Klamath Falls; 32 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Robert J. Little Sr.
The graveside service for Robert J. Little Sr. will be at 3 p.m. today at Woodville Cemetery in Rogue River. Ken Burns of Lovejoy Hospice will officiate. The Rogue Valley Detachment Marine Corps League will provide military honors.
Mr. Little, 83, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (May 2, 2001) at the Veterans Affairs Roseburg Health Care System.

He was born Jan. 16, 1918, in Havre, Mont. On Jan. 6, 1968, in Williams, he married Sharon Fryer, who survives.
Mr. Little served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1939 until his retirement as a master sergeant in 1965.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling and carpentry.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Maureen Little, Grants Pass, and Karen Birtch, Denver; a son, Robert John Jr., Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Little; a daughter, Colleen Little; two brothers; and one sister.

Samuel L. Henderson
The memorial service for Samuel L. Henderson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Grants Pass. The Grants Pass Elks Lodge will officiate. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Henderson, 89, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Grants Pass.
He was born Jan. 5, 1912, in Bluffdale, Utah. On Nov. 14, 1974, in Nevada, he married Roseanne Amaranthus, who survives.
Mr. Henderson worked in the construction industry in Southern California. He moved to Grants Pass in 1979 after his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a chief machinist's mate in the Asiatic-Pacific.
Mr. Henderson was a member of the Grants Pass Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge and the Steelheaders.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting traveling and painting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three stepchildren, Mike Amaranthus, Grants Pass, Cecelia Boyer, Salem, and Cindy Eagan, Santa Ana, Calif.; a sister, Grace Callard, San Diego; and nine grandchildren.

Clinton A. Whitlow
The graveside service for Clinton A. Whitlow will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Chaplain John Braund of Providence Hospice will officiate.
Mr. Whitlow, 72, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (May 2, 2001) at Hearthstone.
He was born April 17, 1929, in Barstow, Calif.
Mr. Whitlow worked for State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington, Ill., retiring after 40 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include two brothers, John Robert, Albany, and Thomas J., Long Beach, Calif.; and a sister, Lucille Fay, Phoenix.

Joy A. Sheire
The memorial service for Joy A. Sheire will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Ashland.
Mrs. Sheire, 83, of Ashland, died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at her home.

She was born March 28, 1918, on a farm in Renville County, Minn., the daughter of Fred William Julius and Mary Case. On Jan. 25, 1937, in Minneapolis, she married Fred M. Sheire, who survives. They moved to Ashland in 1977.
Mrs. Sheire worked for Harry and David and the Multiple Listing Service. Before that she worked at Brown and Bigelow in St. Paul, Minn., and she and her husband owned a small weekly Minnesota newspaper, "The Fairfax Standard."
She enjoyed volunteer work at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Tudor Guild and at the Methodist church.
Mrs. Sheire enjoyed gardening, and bird-watching and calling.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Beverly Dumont, Hillsboro; two sons, Blair, Mendota Heights, Minn., and Brent, St. Louis Park, Minn.; two sisters, Priscilla Miklos, Fairfax, Minn., and Rosemary Maxwell, Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
