Jean S. Glenn
Jean S. Glenn, 62, of Medford, died Wednesday (May 2, 2001) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. A private service will be held later.
She was born Aug. 26, 1938, in Los Angeles, a daughter of Karl and Robin Sicherman. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from Los Angeles.
Ms. Glenn enjoyed writing, painting, drawing and gardening.
Survivors include a twin sister, Margaret Powell, Arnold, Calif. She was preceded in death by an older sister, Carolyn Carr.

Lee Roy Jones
Lee Roy Jones, 64, of Medford, died Friday (May 4, 2001) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Thomas, Okla., a son of James and Dortha Jones.
Mr. Jones was a self-employed electrical contractor in the Bay area in California until illness forced his retirement. He moved to the Rogue Valley in April from Southern California.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1960.
Mr. Jones was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He enjoyed gardening, poker, golf and bowling.

Elsie M. McMullan
The memorial service for Elsie M. McMullan will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hull & Hull Chapel in Grants Pass. Pastor Tom Harvey will officiate. Private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Grants Pass.
Mrs. McMullan, 92, of Central Point, died Thursday (May 3, 2001) at her home.
She was born Jan. 26, 1909, in Dublin, Texas. On April 25, 1927, in Arizona, she married James Clark McMullan, who died in 1968. In 1942, she moved to Grants Pass from Arizona. She moved to Medford in 1987.
Mrs. McMullan volunteered as a Pink Lady at Josephine Memorial Hospital and as a 4-H leader when her children were young.
She was a member of the Fruitdale Grange, Timber Riders Horse Club, the Blue Star Mothers and the Redwood Country Church, where she was involved in the sewing group.
Mrs. McMullan enjoyed fishing, especially on the Oregon Coast, quilting, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jean Reed, Central Point; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Calvin.

T.R. 'Ted' Paulus
Theodore "Ted" Rolland Paulus, 97, of Grants Pass, died April 19, 2001, at Three Rivers Community Hospital's Washington campus. The memorial service was held at the Grants Pass Elks Lodge.

He was born June 19, 1903, in Salem, where he attended school. He also attended Capitol Business College, the University of Oregon and the Academy of Vienna School of Music.
As a high school student, he worked at Bishop's men's clothing store and at the YMCA. He later became the sales manager for a wholesale auto parts store. During World War I, he worked in a plant supplying material for the armed forces.
On Aug. 9, 1930, he married Agnes Ruth Kuhn, who died in 1994. They moved in 1949 to Grants Pass, where they purchased the Pick and Pan Hardware store and renamed it Ted Paulus Valley Hardware. He sold the business to Rogue River Hardware in 1968. In the mid-1950s, he was one of the organizers of Southern Oregon State Bank and served on its board of directors for 37 years.
Mr. Paulus served as potentate of the Hillah Temple Shrine; president of the Josephine County Shrine Club; president of the Lions Club; and president of the Dad's Club. He was a member of the Redwood Grange; a captain air raid warden; keeper of the wampum for the Oregon Cavemen; a member of the Grants Pass Elks Lodge; a member of the Grants Pass Masonic Lodge and one-time director of the Grants Pass Golf Club. He also organized fund-raising events for the Vitality Center and played host to Elks and Shrine dances in his home.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Satterwhite, Bainbridge Island, Wash.; two sons, Ted Jr., Hillsboro, and David, Atherton, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Florence 'Winnie' Brooks
Florence "Winnie" Winifred Brooks, 71, of Medford, died Sunday (May 6, 2001) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service is planned.

She was born Florence Graham on May 10, 1929, in Belfast, Ireland. On Jan. 24, 1959, in Reno, Nev., she married Lawrence Brooks, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1987.
Mrs. Brooks worked at Roxy Ann Lanes for several years.
She enjoyed reading and collecting dolls and Hummel figurines.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Larry, San Jose, Calif., and Graham J., Tulare County, Calif.; two daughters, Jamie Hennon, Medford, and Patty Kirsch, Pasadena, Calif.; two sisters, Pat Skundrick, Medford, and Molly Shaw, Pasadena, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hugh, Tommy and Johnny Graham; and a sister, Sadie Wilcox.

Merrill A. Taylor
Merrill A. Taylor, 90, of Ashland, died Saturday (May 5, 2001) at his home. A private inurnment service will be held. A memorial celebration will be announced later.

He was born Oct. 6, 1910, near Yreka, Calif., a son of Herbert and Cecile (Perry) Taylor. He moved to Ashland in 1936. On Nov. 2, 1945, he married Arden Graber, who died in 1991.
Mr. Taylor worked in the mill business. In the 1950s, he and his brothers owned and operated Taylor Brothers Mill. He worked for Cross and Croman Corp. until he retired at 72.
He was a lifetime member of the Ashland Elks.
Mr. Taylor enjoyed working, the outdoors and children.
Survivors include a son, Marvin Dale, Talent; a daughter, Sherry Cessnun, Phoenix; two stepdaughters, Nina Stewart, Honolulu, and Nancy Ankeney, Torrance, Calif.; two brothers, Raymond, Redmond, and Leland, in Alaska; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son; a stepson; and two brothers.

Elva Marie Johnson
The graveside service for Elva Marie Johnson will be at 3 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford. Pastor Marvin Clark of the Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate.
Mrs. Johnson, 99, formerly of Jacksonville, died Saturday (May 5, 2001) at El Dorado Convalescent Hospital in California.
She was born Elva Wilson on March 30, 1902, in St. Helena, Calif. On June 1, 1923, in Los Angeles, she married George R. Johnson, who died in 1983. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1978 from Placerville, Calif., and lived in Jacksonville until 1995, when she returned to California.
Mrs. Johnson worked in food service at a hospital in California for 20 years before her retirement.
She was a member of the Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Medford.
Mrs. Johnson enjoyed cooking and entertaining.
Survivors include two daughters, Opal Brooks, Sutherlin, and Carrol Shewmake, Pollock Pines, Calif.; a brother, Raymond Wilson, Florence; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer O. Wilson; and two sisters, Cora M. Wilson and Lola Fleming.

Bermel 'Rusty' W. Walker
Bermel "Rusty" W. Walker, 69, of Medford, died Wednesday (May 9, 2001) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service will be held.

She was born Bermel Kinder on Nov. 17, 1931, in Russellville, Ark.
Ms. Walker worked as a waitress and cook for most of her life. She moved to the Rogue Valley four years ago from Prescott, Ariz.
She attended Living Waters Church.
Ms. Walker enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping and ceramics.
Survivors include a daughter, Dennise Richardson, Yreka, Calif.; four sons, Ernie, Medford, Ron, Phoenix, Steve, La Grande, and Christopher, in Arizona; two brothers, Junior Kinder, Pottsville, Ark., and Lytle Kinder, Prescott, Ariz.; a sister, Donna Davis, Medford; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; and a daughter, Renné Walker.
