Gordon Alan Graham
Gordon Alan Graham was born on December 10, 1949 in Washington, Pennsylvania to Floyd and Irene Graham. He joined sisters Kathlene (age 6) and Karen (age 2). Gordon lived in Lagonda, PA until 1962.
In 1962, Gordon’s family moved to Tualatin, Oregon. He graduated from Tigard High School in 1967. He attended Portland Community College and graduated with an associate’s degree in the culinary program. He was employed by the Tualatin Country Club as a chef for 2 years. In 1972, he joined Wackenhut, Inc., a national security company. In 2000 he retired due to complications from his diabetes.
In 1971 Gordon married Ruth Brouillard in Portland, Oregon. They lived in the Portland area throughout their 39 year marriage.
Gordon was a 48 year member of Tigard Grange. He thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Grange. He devoted many years to serving wherever he was needed within the organization. He also was a member of Amaranth and enjoyed many years of participation until his health prevented him from attending meetings.
Gordon had a life-long love of horses. In 1975 he acquired an Arabian mare named Lark. This was the beginning of many years of enjoyment raising Arabian horses. Gordon enjoyed people as well. He had a positive attitude and had a good sense of humor.
In 2000 Gordon’s health began to decline due to complications of his diabetes. Throughout the next ten years he had several leg and foot operations. In 2009 he suffered a heart attack and kidney failure and another foot surgery. Gordon faced all of his health challenges with an optimistic and hopeful attitude. In his last year Gordon received much comfort and love from Sophie, a Staffordshire Terrier whose contribution to the quality of Gordon’s life and soul cannot be overstated.
Gordon passed away at West Hills Rehab on July 8, 2010. He is survived by his wife Ruth; five nieces and nephews and twelve great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Irene Graham, and by his sisters Kathlene Swart and Karen Larsen.
A memorial service will be held July 24, 2010 at 11:30 am at Sunnyside Church of the Nazarene, 10401 SE 92nd Ave, Happy Valley, Oregon.

Deborah Rae Setzer
Deborah Rae Setzer, 71, of Molalla, passed away on the morning of July 5, 2010. She was born on June 1, 1939 to Hughe and Ruby (Ollinger) Cardiff in a rural area of California located between Bakersfield and Moscow. For the majority of her life, Deborah lived in either Coos Bay or Molalla. She worked as the head coordinator for a local battered women’s shelter. Deborah had many hobbies including crafting, sewing, knitting and crocheting as well as countless collections that included dolls, masks, clowns and apples.
Deborah is survived by her three sons Rickey Lee Stauffer, Larry Stauffer and Gary Keplinger; two daughters Cindy Keplinger and Lynell Keplinger; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. There is no service scheduled for Deborah per her request. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.
Teresa “Teri” Hayes
Teresa “Teri” Hayes passed away at her home in Portland on July 5, 2010. She was 56. She was born and raised in the Portland area and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1972. Teri was married to Ed Hayes on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii on January 1, 1999. She worked in the Accounting department for Smith, Freed and Eberhard Law Firm. Teri had many hobbies including gardening, pottery, riding Harleys, reading, and most importantly, spending time with her two grandchildren. She was a supporter of AA and a member of the Oregon Potters Association.
Teri is survived by her husband Ed Hayes of Portland, son Steve O’Neill of Portland, daughter Elizabeth “Libby” Kuhn of Coos Bay, daughter Sadie Hayes of Vancouver, granddaughter Riley O’Neill of Portland, grandson Kollin Kuhn of Coos Bay, brother Patrick Purdy of Portland and birth mother Julia Waldron of New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Dorothy Purdy. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at the Gresham Masonic Lodge at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 10th, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Hopewell Hospice House in Teri’s name. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie.
Sherry Naoma Doty
Sherry Naoma Doty, 63, of Silverton died July 3, 2010. Services will be held at a later date.
Sherry was born August 20, 1946 in Gadsden, Alabama to Raymond W. and Cynthia M. (Lollis) Doty. She moved to The Dalles, OR in 1952 and graduated from The Dalles High School. She also went to Clackamas Community College and Western Oregon University. She lived in Silverton, OR for 25 years and loved her time there. She was first and foremost a mother but was also a gymnastics coach and a wood worker. She enjoyed music, crocheting, hiking, biking, her dog and laughing. She was a “Bapticostal”, a mixture of Baptist and Pentecostal.
She is survived by her father, Raymond W. Doty of The Dalles, OR; sisters Denice Henshaw of Portland, OR and Mary Swaim of Oregon City, OR; brothers Curt Doty of Portland, OR, Sam Swaim of Bend, OR and Phil Swaim of The Dalles, OR; son Tom Van Osdol of Nampa, ID; daughters Christine Van Osdol of Portland, OR, Angela Pendergrass and Heather Pendergrass both of Silverton, OR and Judith Lopez of Salem, OR; and 18 grandchildren.

David Scott Peerenboom
David Scott Peerenboom, of Portland, Oregon passed away on July 2, 2010 at the age of 53. He was born to Robert and Hazel (Schmidt) Peerenboom in Portland, Oregon on September 20, 1956. David served in the United States Army as a young man and was stationed in Hawaii. He later worked for the City of Portland at a water treatment plant. His time away from work was spent fishing and tending to his pet chickens and dog.
David is survived by his son Scott Peerenboom of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; son Alex Peerenboom of Portland, Oregon; brother Donald Peerenboom of Portland, Oregon; brother Eric Peerenboom of Portland, Oregon; and one grandchild. There will be a service at Willamette National Cemetery in the near future. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.
Orville Doyle Veneman
Orville passed away in the early morning hours of July 1, 2010 at the age of 86. He was the son of Omar and Anna Veneman, born April 11, 1924, in Almena, Kansas. He met Maebelle Cain and married in Vancouver, WA on May 31, 1942. He retired in 1980 from owning his own business in Salem, Sav-Co House, a local vacuum and sewing machine store.
After retirement, Orville moved to Elko, Nevada where he designed and built his own home. He returned to Salem in 2010. He was a member of the Eagles for more than 30 years. He was an inventor, craftsman, handyman and well witcher, witching wells in Nevada. Orville was known as someone that could build anything and believed in fixing it rather than buying new. He enjoyed hunting and golfing and even had a hole in one.
Orville is survived by his Son Rick, daughter Dorothy Lute, Daughter Linda Coiteux, Daughter Sally Teel, son Dean, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his spouse Maebelle and 1 grandchild Bobbie Lynn.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 18th, 2010 at Sleepy Hollow Clubhouse, 1916 Icabod St NE, Salem, Oregon.
Steven Franklin Kellas
5/29/50 – 8/22/10
A Celebration of life for Damascus resident Steven Franklin Kellas will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 4 at Gresham Memorial Chapel 257 SE Roberts Ave. Private inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
Steven, age 60, passed away Aug. 22, 2010 in Portland after a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born May 29, 1950 in Corvallis, Oregon the son of Alan and Gloria Kellas. At a young age the family moved to Portland, then on to Pendleton where he was raised and educated. Following graduation from Pendleton High School in 1968 Steven enlisted in the Navy, serving 8 years. He was honorably discharged in 1978.
Steven moved to Portland in 1981 where he worked as a Telecommunications Manager for US West, Electric Lightwave, Integra and New Edge Network.
On June 15, 2002 he married Lynn Mercer in Vancouver, Washington. They moved to Damascus in 2009, where Steven loved working on their property.
As hobbies Steven enjoyed running, biking and paddling dragon boats.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Kellas of Damascus; son, Jason Kellas of Banks, OR.; 3 daughters, Trista Seastone of Hillsboro, OR, Lori Briece and Lyndi Califf both of Damascus; parents, Alan and Gloria Kellas of Pendleton, OR.; 3 brothers, Greg Kellas and Chris Kellas both of Pendleton, Troy Kellas of Phoenix, AZ.; and 9 grandchildren. Arrangements were by Crown Memorial Center – Portland.
