Otis L. Manwarren, 90, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. Arrangements are by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Ashland.
Suzanne Langley
Suzanne Langley, beloved mother and grandmother, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at her residence in Ashland, surrounded by loved ones. She was 74 years old. Born Suzanne Isabelle Healy on July 3, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York to George Healy and Isabelle Calhoun Healy, Sue received her undergraduate degree at Trinity College and her masters degree in education at Columbia University. While attending Trinity, she was introduced to her future husband, George Langley, by her soon to be sister-in-law, Mary Jane. They were married in 1954, and raised their family together in Syracuse, New York and Santa Clara County, California. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Robert Healy; she is survived by her sister, Joan Healy Calame, and her four daughters: Deborah Langley and Carol Langley of Medford; Joan Langley and her family, Peter, Michael, Jack and Christopher Buckley of Ashland; and Janet Langley of San Diego. A funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 16 at 2 p.m., and a graveside service will be offered at the Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose, California on Thursday, December 18 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Sue's name to ARC of Jackson County.
Dottie Barbour
Dottie Doreen Barbour, 76, died Nov. 11, 2003 in Yuba City, Calif.,
Barbour was born in Saint Francis, Kan., Jan. 10, 1927. She lived in Yuba City for the past three years, and before that was secretary and bookkeeper for Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Ashland.
Barbour was raised in McCook, N.D., where she graduated from high school.
She is survived by sons Robert Campbell of Redding, Calif. and William Campbell of Roseville, Calif.; daughters Jeanne Bravos of Yuba City and Suzanne Viall of Camas, Wash.; stepsons William Barbour of Boulder City, Nev. and Robert Barbour of San Jose, Calif.; brother Robert Burnham of Lake San Marcos, Calif.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Shirley J. Southern
The Funeral Mass for Shirley J. Southern will be at 11 a.m., Friday, at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Shirley J. Southern, 77, of Phoenix, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 at her home.

Anita Wahinehookae
Anita Wahinehookae, 88, of Central Point, died Nov. 23, 2003 at her home. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 at the Ashland Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was born Dec. 29, 1915 at Honolulu, Hawaii. She attended University of Hawaii. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1981. She was a teachers' aid and enjoyed gardening and sewing. Wahinehookae was a member of the Ashland Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Valarie Hawkes; sons Vernon, Lavern and Wayne Lee; six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter Patricia; two brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements are with Perl Funeral Home.
Mary K. Hull
Mary Kathryn Hull died on Nov. 22, 2003 in Ashland, Oregon at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin Stanton Hull, who died in 1992.
Mary was born in Uniontown, Kansas on Sept. 13, 1914 to Milt and Mona McKinnis. She attended Uniontown High School where she excelled in debate and basketball, and led her basketball team to four State Championships in the late 1920s and early 1930s. She was an avid basketball fan and was a regular attendee at Ashland High School and Southern Oregon University basketball games. She was recognized by the University as an Outstanding Woman Athlete and was an honorary coach during the 2002 basketball season.
Mary traveled from Uniontown to Colorado and then to Long Beach, California in 1941, where she worked in the Navy shipyards during World War II. She operated a large catering business in Long Beach until 1975 and moved to Paradise, Calif. and then on to Ashland in 1988. She and her husband Edwin loved children and founded the Edwin Hull Campership Fund at the First United Methodist Church, Ashland to assure a camping experience for every child in the church.
Mary was also a caring auxiliary volunteer at the Feather River Hospital in Paradise and the Ashland Community Hospital. She was recognized as the most outstanding volunteer at Feather River Hospital as well as other top-hour awards. She was active in many other community volunteer activities.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Linda Butler of Ashland and three sons; Roger Hull of Medford, Ron Hull of Juneau, Alaska and Charles Hull of Ashland; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Community Hospital Auxiliary or the Edwin Hull Campership Fund at the First United Methodist Church. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Ashland on the corner of Laurel and No. Main Street.

James Walter Starkey
James Walter Starkey, 84, died December 1, 2003, in Des Moines, Washington.
James was born April 3, 1919 in Tonopah, Nevada to James Walter and Lucy Wilkins Starkey. When both died, he was raised by his aunt, Malvina Starkey, of Montrose, California. During WWII, he was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps. His aviation career spanned five decades as a pilot flying in the areas of commercial, Alaska bush, and general aviation. Before his retirement, he was employed by KOGAP Plywood Co. of Medford.
Besides his love of flying, Jim enjoyed building homes and finish carpentry. He was an active member of the Medford hangar of the Quiet Birdmen, and a third degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mabel Harriet Hodge Starkey; children, Paul Starkey and wife Patty of Bedford, Texas, Peter and wife Julie of Seattle, John and wife Cheryl of Burien; sister, Esther Lee Loyola Lindskog of Oregon; and grandchildren, Austin and Laura.
Elizabeth Hall Patch
Betty Patch, 84, of Monroe, Washington, went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2003.
She was born in San Francisco on November 19, 1919, and was raised on the Little Applegate.
Mrs. Patch was a retired nurse and spent her time crocheting, gardening, quilting, and was especially fond of sports.
She leaves behind her children Buffy Hurd, Mary Hill, Pam Hernandez, Paula Chapman, Karen Ann Dalbec, Cindy Cook and Dan Patch, Jr., and was preceded in death by her daughter Rosie Arnett. She was a grandmother, great grandmother and a great-great grandmother to 60 grandchildren and was affectionately known as "Grandma B" to them and her many foster children.
A memorial service will be held at the Royal Mobile Estates Clubhouse, 1055 N Fifth St, Jacksonville, on December 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Graveside services for family and close friends will be held at Jacksonville Cemetary at noon on Dec. 27.

Deforest Earl Frazier, 70, of Medford died Monday (Dec. 22, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
