George Lewis Willis
George Lewis Willis, of Gladstone, passed away from an aortic aneurysm on June 8, 2010 at the age of 76. George was born in Portland to Tom and Cecelia Willis on February 22, 1934. He was a diesel electrician at S.P.R.R. then on to apprenticeship school to become an outside wireman. He worked for a few private companies and then retired from Portland Public Schools after 23 years. He married Carol, his childhood sweetheart, in 1953. He was father to son George Willis and daughter Stephanie Ranger and son-in-law Vince Ranger grandfather to Casey Roberti, Courtney Willis and McKenzie Willis. He never met a stranger and would converse with anyone who listened or didn’t! He over engineered most everything and could fix anything but plumbing. He loved drag racing (an avid John Force fan), NASCAR, hot rods, especially his ’55 Stude, and afternoon cocktails. He will be sorely missed for his generosity. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Tom. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Devers Eye Clinic at 1040 NW 22nd Avenue, Portland, Or 97210 in care of Mark Terry, M.D. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Rivershore Restaurant on Clackamette Drive on June 19th, 2010 from 2-5 pm. Lawrence Roy Smith Jr.
Lawrence Roy Smith Jr. (aka Larry Jr.) was born August 22, 1967. A loving son, brother and uncle, he died at home in his sleep June 8, 2010. Larry has been bed-ridden since Christmas 2009 and had recently been hospitalized with kidney failure due to diabetes. Larry’s health had been failing for about the last five years; his soul mate Liz Brazeau was always in his attendance and saw to his every need.
Larry was born in Portland and attended Portland public schools. He served in the US Army during the Gulf War, stationed at Ft. Richardson, in Anchorage Alaska. He was a member of Oregon Trail Post 150 of the American Legion. After his discharge he worked as a painter at Freightliner Truck Plant on Swan Island for about six years until he was laid off. He had worked at Home Depot and several other part-time jobs until he became sick with diabetes. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, drawing, karaoke, and carving walking sticks for the people he loved. He loved sharing his knowledge and skills with all kids but especially his nephews.
Larry is survived by his parents Lawrence and Mary Smith of Portland, his sister’s family Yolonda Smith, and Kevin Pemberton, two nephews Nathan R. Smith of Portland, and Jonathan N. Sampson of Blairsden, CA. A memorial service will be held at the American Legion Hall at 8329 SE 89th Ave in Portland, Oregon on June 26th, 2010 from 1:00 pm till 4:00 pm. Lillian Claire (Kittle) Donlon
Lillian Claire (Kittle) Donlon known as Terry to most, was born in Glendale California in 1922. She married James Terrell in 1942 but divorced after just a few years, moving to Las Vegas where her mother was living.
Later she met a young Air force Lt named Bill Donlon. They were married in 1949 and shared an exciting life for almost 60 years. They lived in New York City, Brazil, Argentina, Panama and Rio de Janeiro. She was awarded a job to work at the White House for the Secretary of the Air Force however it coincided with her husband’s promotion and they were transferred to Brazil. After a crash course in Portuguese she learned to entertain diplomats and host receptions for formal events with Brazilian Air Force personnel.
When Bill retired they moved to Florida then on to California . After Bill’s death in 2003 she moved to Oregon. She was an avid bridge player who loved painting and singing. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Robert Louis “Buzz Buzz” Millar
Robert Louis “Buzz Buzz” Millar died at home in Battle Ground, Washington at the age of fifty-nine. Born August 22nd, 1951 in Montreal, Canada, he was raised primarily in California, where he graduated from Claremont High School and attended Chaffey College. Robert moved to the state of Washington in 1970 and resided in Battle Ground, WA since 1985. Robert married Deborah Dawn on September 20th, 1973 in Portland, Oregon.
Robert worked in industrial sales and in construction, and included in his hobbies beekeeping, fishing, golfing and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Dawn Millar, daughters Michelle Dawn Walters and Alicia May Fletty and son David Robert Millar. Robert is also survived by his mother Venita Emily Millar, brother Karel Millar and by his sister-in-law Dianne Marie Millar. He is further survived by two grandchildren, William Fletty and Race Walters. Robert was preceded in death by his father John Frederick Millar and by his brother Wayne Millar.
A Memorial will be held for Robert at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12th, 2010 at Mountain View Hazen Church in La Center, Washington.

Margaret Eleanor (Keener) Brown
Margaret Eleanor (Keener) Brown died June 5th, 2010 at the age of eighty-five. Born February 6th, 1925 to William and Lottie Keener in Northampton, Pennsylvania, she went on to marry and become a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Brown and by her son, Harry Lewis.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sowden (husband Charles) of Gresham, Oregon; and sisters Marie Lapchak, Dorothy Clift and Betty Keener, all of whom reside in Pennsylvania. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Erik Sowden (and his wife Holly) and their children Kara and Darien (all of Cornelius); Jeffrey Sowden of Damascus; Laurie Sowden (husband Jerry) and their children Thomas and Christina, all of Portland, Oregon.
Margaret was given a Christian ritual by her nephew, Harold Siefert who came in from Pennsylvania for the event. Her ashes were interred with her husband’s remains at Willamette National Cemetery.

Shirley Dianne Phillips
Shirley Dianne Phillips went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after passing away in McMinnville, Oregon on June 5th, 2010 at the age of 66. Shirley was born June 9th, 1943 in Eugene, Oregon to her parents, Lois and A.C. Grimes. She had worked as a deputy with the Coos County Sheriff Department until her retirement.
Shirley was a member of the McMinnville Newcomer’s Group and was also a member of Adventure Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, and most of all being with family. She will be remembered by all for her beautiful smile, love of family and friends, and for her walk with the Lord.
Shirley is survived by her husband Larry Phillips, and by her daughters Lori Mallarnee of Franklin, TN; Heidi Dieu of Coquille, OR; Kerrie Lucero of Bend, OR; Becky Capps of Kirkland, WA and Lori Bennett of North Bend, OR. She is also survived by her son Chuck Phillips of Austin, TX. Shirley is further survived by her grandchildren: Hunter & Chase Flaherty and Ben & Charlie Mallarnee, all of Franklin, Tn; Holli, Michael and Levi Dieu of Coquille, OR; Jake, Cameron & Brody Lucero of North Bend, OR; Kelli Mac & Gavin Bennett, also of North Bend, OR. Ella Henthorn is Shirley’s surviving Great-grandchild.
No services are scheduled by request of the deceased.

John Orville Newell
John Orville Newell passed away on June 2nd, 2010 in Carlton, Oregon. He was 79 years old. John was born September 7th, 1930 in Bagknell Dam, Missouri and was raised primarily in Missouri. He married Dona Luree Newell on October 14th, 1954 and worked at various jobs before moving to Oregon in 1968. John went on to work as a part handler for a freightliner company*, and in his free time enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing poker.
John is survived by his sons Kenneth and Nathan Newell, and daughters Patricia Wyatt, Donna Vargas and Susan Lance. John is further survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dona.
No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Hospice.

Karen L. Klever
Karen was born in Portland, Oregon on February 3rd, 1958 and passed away on May 30th, 2010. She was a paralegal for the US Attorney’s Office District of Oregon for 27 years.
Karen is survived by her mother Marjorie Jarvis; brother Robert Jarvis; sister Kathy Elliston; husband Craig; daughter Amy Quiring and son Kevin.
No formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
