Robert Austin Williams
Robert passed away at the age of 81 on March 08, 2010. He was born in Washburn, North Dakota on March 11, 1928 to Austin and Helen Williams. He attended schools in Minot, ND and then was a proud member of the US Navy Sea-bees.
After the Navy, Robert was a substation apprentice for PGE and also worked at Jantzen Knitting Mills as a sewing machine mechanic. He married Pauline G. Rutledge in October of 1948 and together they raised three children. Robert was a 20 year club member of the Jantzen Elks, volunteered for over 20 years with the Loaves and Fishes and he loved all spectator sports.
Robert is survived by his spouse of 61 years Pauline, Daughter Jeanene Armitage of Portland, sons Brian of Gresham and Kent of Portland, and 3 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother Don and sister Myra. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.
Steven “Steve” K. Forney
Steve Forney of Portland passed away in the afternoon hours of March 8, 2010 at the age of 51 following a heart attack. He was the son of Keith and Iva Forney, born January 14, 1959 in Portland, OR. He grew up in the Beaverton/Portland areas attending West Hills Christian School and graduating from Portland Christian High School. He attended George Fox and Oregon State Universities, graduating with a Bachelors of Science Degree.
Steve married Janet Wallberg in 1988 in Portland, OR. He was chemist in the technology industry. He was a teacher, a laboratory supervisor and he loved traveling. He is survived by his spouse of 21 years Janet and his mother Iva. He is preceded in death by his father Keith.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 13, 2010 at University Park Baptist Church, 4340 North Lombard Street, Portland, OR. Donations can be made in honor of Steve to Janet Forney for Science for Faith Ministry. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.
Wilfred “Bill” K. Higley
Bill passed away March 08, 2010 at the age of 81, at his home in Milwaukie, OR. He was the son of George and Inez Higley, born June 22, 1928 in Pocatello, ID. After graduating from school, Bill joined the US Air Force where he served as a Master Sergeant, retiring after 20 years of service.
Bill was married to Lena Crosswhite from 1953 to 1963. In 1965, he met and married Jessie Schmitt. Bill raised his family in Portland, enjoying hunting, fishing, and photography and he was self employed as a carpenter.
Bill is survived by his sons Dennis of Puyallup, WA, Randy of Estacada, John of Aloha and Mike of Greenleaf, ID; daughters Laura of Milwaukie, Pat of Molalla, Teri of Happy Valley, Gayle of Milwaukie, Debbie of Vancouver, WA and Kim of Oregon City; 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his spouse of 36 years, Jessie, and his sons David and Steven.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 13, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 13520 SE Ruscliffe Ln, Milwaukie, OR. A private interment will take place at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Donations can be made in honor of Bill to Providence Hospice, www.providence.org. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.
Joy Ann Basse
Portland resident, Joy Ann Basse, 50, passed away on March 7, 2010. Joy was born in Goldendale, Washington and was raised in Wishram, Washington. She graduated as Valor Victorian and then attended design school at Portland State University and soon began working in Sales. In 2000, she started working in Advertising Sales and in 2006, she became a community advocate in the City of Tualatin. She found utmost importance in helping out homeless individuals in the city and she volunteered her time to the Tualatin food pantry. She was also a part of Tualatin Renters Rights to ensure that everyone had a healthy place to live. When she wasn’t helping out directly with her community, she enjoyed gardening, belly dancing, clothes designs, and she was an adamant Christian.
Joy is survived by her partner of 12 ˝ years, Wade Rogerson; sister Janet Basse; and nephews Aaron Basse and Michael Basse. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Please send donations in memory of Joy to the Tualatin Food Pantry, the Radio Cab Foundation and the Turkey Project, or to the American Cancer Society. Winston “Red” Lawson
Winston “Red” Lawson passed away in Portland, Oregon on March 6, 2010, at the age of 85. Winston was born to Stella and A. Lawson in Midlothian, Texas on July 19, 1924. He was raised in both his native Texas and Oklahoma before making the trip out to Oregon in the 1950’s. Winston served in the Marine Corp. during World War II, and then settled down and had a family with Marcella Cerveny. The couple married on March 16, 1957 before having two sons together, David and Larry Lawson. Winston had various careers during his lifetime including working as an ambulance driver and working for Gunderson, a local railroad freight car builder. He worked the longest as a Brewmaster for the Lucky Lager Brewery. In his spare time, Winston enjoyed golfing at Mt. Scott, and he also gave back to the community by volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Winston is survived by his two sons, David Lawson, of California, and Larry Lawson, of Scappoose, Oregon, and his sister, Peggy Lawson, of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella (Cerveny) Lawson. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Peters Catholic Church in Winston’s name. A Graveside service with full military honors is scheduled at Willamette National Cemetery on Friday, April 2, 2010, at 3:00 pm. Arrangements were entrusted to Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie.
Annette (Annie) Lee Ahalt
October 11, 1934 – March 6, 2010
Beaverton resident, Annette (Annie) Lee Ahalt, passed away on March 6, 2010 to natural causes. Annette was born in Portland to Robert and Lela Bolton on October 11, 1934. She attended Park Rose High School and married Gordon Owes in 1954. Annette worked as a bookkeeper most of her life and she enjoyed music and dancing and spending time with her family and friends.
Annette is survived by her son David Owes and brother Robert Bolton, Jr. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.
Edna H. Anderson
Edna H. Anderson, 87 years young, passed from life to be with the Lord on March 4, 2010 at her home in Salem, OR.
Edna was born July 25, 1922 in Appleton, Minnesota to Andrew and Augusta Zinda, and was the oldest of 5 children. Her brothers: Eddie and Paul Zinda, sisters: Eleanor Currey and Pauline Kack.
Edna married Louie (Curly) Anderson Dec. 25, 1951. They moved to the Four Corners area in Salem, OR in 1959 and owned the Mobile Gas Station. After that Edna worked at Mayfair Market, Roth’s IGA and retired from Kmart. Edna and Curly were members of the Eagles for many years.
Edna was an amazing woman and loved to go camping, fishing, traveling with Curly and dancing. She enjoyed sewing and just spending time with her family. She never thought of herself and always put others first. Edna was loved by many people, especially by her family. Edna loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, having special relationships with each one and was loved by them. All who knew her sensed her loving, caring and accepted nature.
Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband Curly, her brother Eddie and her sister-in-law Jeanette Anderson.
She is survived by four children; daughter Dolly of Minnesota; son Kent Harmon, grandson Paul (Leanna) Harmon, grandson Duke Harmon, great grandchildren Mattie, Sophia, Kaylee, granddaughter Vonda Orange, great grandchildren Lanissa, and Mia; son Kurt (Sharon) Anderson, granddaughter Kelly, great grandchildren Avery, and Andrew of Mass; daughter Karen (Brian) Trussell, granddaughter Keasha Pounds; great grandchildren Raeven, Korbin; grandson Brian (Shelley); great granddaughter Devin; granddaughter Lacey (Billy) Coelho all of Salem.
Edna will be missed so much. She was a huge part of many lives and will never be forgotten. There will be a Memorial Service, Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Grace Community Church, 4501 Lancaster Dr NE Salem, OR at 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at Sleepy Hollow Recreation Hall 1916 Icabod St NE, Salem. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Salem.
Lisa E. Martinez
Lisa passed away March 5, 2010 at the age of 43 in her home in Salem. She was born August 12, 1966 in Valdosta, GA to Robert and Lynette Morgan. Lisa grew up in Mill City, OR where she excelled in sports and graduated from Santiam High School.
After graduating, Lisa moved to Salem where she raised her three children. She was a loving, caring and giving daughter, sister and Mother. Lisa loved the Lord and her children unconditionally. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Lynette Morgan; siblings Robert Morgan II, Sabrina Rohan and Candice Stoops, and her three children Hope Armstrong, Jesse Martinez and Levi Martinez.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 13, at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1390 45th Ave NE, Salem. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Salem.
