Perry Cameron Boehm
Feb. 8, 1951 – Feb. 8, 2010
Perry Cameron Boehm, age 59, died on his birthday February 8, 2010. Born in Highland Park, Mich. on Feb. 8, 1951. He graduated Wayne State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree. He moved to Portland, Ore. in 1983 and went into business with three of his brothers for 8 years. Afterwards he tried his hand at sign painting, general carpentry and for the past several years he was a maintenance technician at the apartment complex he lived at. He enjoyed working with his hands and developed a passion for woodworking.
Perry is survived by his siblings; Charles, Frances (Clayton) Teeter, June (Greg) Berner, Gary, Deborah (Carl) Wingert, and the late John (Linda), and Thomas (Nancy). John was his twin brother. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine. Perry enjoyed fishing, golf, cribbage, chess, bowling and shooting pool. One of his life’s greatest joys was reading pulp fiction.
Perry devoted his time and energies to many activities in the St. Johns community over the past twenty years. For the past 16 years he served as a board member of the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, and managed the beer garden at the event. Festival goers will remember Perry at the entrance to the Beer Garden checking ID where his humor and good nature always kept the atmosphere safe, relaxed and fun. He is best remembered for his generosity of spirit, his robust laughter, and his propensity to ”tell it like it is.” Perry loved life to the fullest and enjoying spending time with his family. He will be missed by all of those fortunate enough to have known him.
At his request there was no funeral. A memorial celebration of Perry’s life will be held at a later date. Aiyhana Tyrah-Ann Key
Aiyhana Tyrah-Ann Key, of Portland, Oregon, passed away at Emanuel Hospital on February 7, 2010, at the age of 3. Aiyhana was born to Joseph P. Key and Stephanie A. Hodgkin in Portland, Oregon on September 6, 2006.
Aiyhana loved to smile and laugh. She loved her grandma and she loved music and would smile and sing along in her own way. She enjoyed her days at school.
Aiyhana is survived by her parents, sisters Domonique Mac Taggart, Jocelynn Key and Monique Key and brothers Malcolm Mac Taggart and Keonie Key. Also surviving are her grandparents Gloria Hodgkin, Steve Hodgkin and Denise Hodgkin as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, 2828 SE Stephens, Portland at 2:00 p.m.

Theresa Katherine Raschko Sohm
Theresa Katherine Raschko Sohm was born on November 5, 1913 in Lefor, North Dakota and died in the Lord Jesus on February 6, 2010 at the age of 96 in Sun City, California. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Michael Raschko and Katherine (Mixner) Raschko of Lefor, North Dakota. She was raised in Lefor and had fond memories of going to daily Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, walking between her parents each holding her hand feeling secure and happy. Theresa married Steve E. Sohm on May 18, 1934 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND. They had two children, Carol Ann and Frederick Michael. The family moved to Butte, Montana in 1941 and then to Salem, Oregon in 1950. Theresa worked for J.C Penney Co. in the drapery department for 5 years and then started her own business: Custom Made Drapery’s. She was an accomplished and successful business woman for 20+ years. Theresa was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, especially in the Altar Society. She had many friends and loved to play bridge, garden, sew, and visit. Steve passed away on June 25, 1993 at the age of 86. She looked forward to her son, Fred’s, weekly visits and always enjoyed his company. Theresa lived alone and managed to her own affairs until October 30, 2008 when she moved to Sun City, CA to live with her daughter, Carol Ann. She is survived by Carol Ann Sohm of Sun City, CA and Fred Sohm of Portland, OR. Marlene Krebs, Dr. Michael Raschko, Patrick Raschko, John Raschko, Leslie Raschko and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 12, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1015 Columbia Street NE, Salem, with viewing beginning at 10:00.A private family interment will take place at Belcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center – Salem.
Tami Jo Denise Adkins
May 21, 1961 – Feb. 1, 2010
Tami Jo Denise Adkins, 48, from Scappoose, passed away Feb. 1, 2010 at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital & Health Center in Portland surrounded by her family and friends.
Tami Jo’s parents, Orvin and Janet Drangstveit, brought Tami into this world with great joy May 21, 1961, in Grand Forks, N.D. Tami married Norman Adkins Oct. 6, 1990, and they had three boys, her pride and joy, Lance, 17; Kyler, 16; and Carson, 15.
Tami graduated from Wilson High School in 1979, graduated from beauty school in 1981 and went on to become a very talented hair dresser. Tami loved art and always had a new are project going. She was so creative and could make anything beautiful. She loved music and to dance the night away. She loved her Pekingese dos and you would often find her with a camera in hand. Tami was a wonderful homemaker and her boys gave her great happiness. She was so proud of them; they were her everything.
Tami Jo was full of life and always good for a great story and an excellent laugh. Tami loved being with family and friends. She loved to go fishing, camping, to the beach and up to the mountains.
Tami left behind her husband, Norman; her boys, Lance, Kyler and Carson; parents Orvin and Janet; her sister; Melody; brother Dion and his wife Kathy; nieces, Tara and Lauran; nephews, Michael, Justin, Brian, Hunter and Ryder; father-in-law, Ron; and brothers-in-law, Neil and Ronald.
Tami’s celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 6835 SW 45th Ave., Portland, OR 97219. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Lance, Kyler and Carson’s educational fund at US Bank.

Jewell J. (Axton) Lett
August 4, 1911 – February 5, 2010
Jewell was born August 4, 1911 in Leedey, Oklahoma. She lived in California for many decades, then moved to Utah and Colorado before settling in Portland, Oregon in 2002, where she died February 5, 2010.
Jewell graduated from Leedey High School in 1931. She married Russell Elmer Lett and raised three daughters. Jewell was a talented painter, seamstress, crocheter, quilter and journal writer. She loved walking, camping and fishing and she traveled all over the world.
Jewell is survived by her daughter Deborah Lett Bernstein and son-in-law Robert Bernstein from Portland, OR; her daughter Beverly Jean Lackey and son-in-law Bill Lackey from Roseburg, OR; her daughter Yvette Sandin and son-in-law Robert Sandin from Reno, NV; her brother-in-law Herman Lett and sister-in-law Bernice Lett from Mountain Park, OK; her six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband and many friends and relatives.
Jewell preferred no formal service. Arrangements were by Crown Memorial Center – Portland.
Richard Irven Slack
Richard passed away in the early hours of February 4th at the age of 67 at his home in Salem. He was the son of Oscar and Mildred Slack, born October 8, 1942 in Roseburg, OR. He graduated from High school in Eugene and raised his children in the Willamette Valley. He was a maintenance supervisor for Shangri-La Corporation and a Park Ranger for Lane County.
Richard is survived by his sons Steven Slack of Salem, Mathew Slack of Portland; daughter Heather Faaitiiti of Salem; grandson Marcus Faaitiiti and granddaughter Elena Harris. A service will be held 12:00 noon Monday, February 8, at Crown Memorial Center, 412 Lancaster DR NE, Salem.
Wilbur Earl “Will” Funk
March 7, 1925 – Feb. 3, 2010
Our wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle passed into heaven on February 3, 2010, from complications of congestive heart failure. He was born March 7, 1925, in Belgrade, MT to Earl C. and Gertrude E. Funk. He attended Bozeman, Belgrade, and Manhattan, MT public schools, graduating Gallatin County high school in1943; He joined the Army Air Corps in1943 but was honorably discharged with a service-connected disability. He earned his BME ‘48 and MME ’59 from the University of Montana.
He taught music at public schools and colleges in St. Ignatius, Lewistown and Havre, MT; Austin, MN; Grant High School and David Douglas High School in Portland, OR and Mt Hood Community College, Gresham, OR. He was the private vocal coach of Oregon State High School Solo Competition Champions in soprano, mezzo-soprano, baritone and bass divisions with several finalists in other voice classifications. After retiring from teaching, Will was a representative for Mutual of Omaha.
Will directed church choirs at 1st Baptist, Lewistown, MT; 1st Methodist, Austin, MN; 1st Congregational, Austin, MN; 1st Methodist and 1st Presbyterian, Havre, MT; Bethany Lutheran, Portland, Or. Grace Episcopal, Portland, OR and was Minister of Music Emeritus at Central Lutheran, Portland, OR. He conducted community choir in Lewistown, MT; Community choir, Male Chorus and Choralaires in Austin, MN; was Director/Singer, Bohemians, Portland, OR; Conductor, Portland Chorale, Portland, OR; He was past President, MCDA, Havre, MT; Member, MMEA, Life member ACDA, MENC; Finalist, Community Ambassador, Austin, MN.
Under his direction, his choirs earned honor trips and won competitions: The Northern Montana College choir Casper, WY convention of ACDA; Choir and Northern Singers toured sections of the State of Montana each year as did Fergus County HS Choralaires. The Austin, MN Choralaires were winners of the Chicagoland Choral Festival, 1959, Mixed Chorus Division, Male Chorus; International Musical Eisteddfod, Llangollen, North Wales, 1960; International, Musical Eisteddfod, Llangollen, North Wales, 1965, Mixed Chorus, Male Chorus;
Will was gifted with a beautiful, clear tenor voice. He sang many weddings, funerals and special occasions throughout the Portland area. He was the Official NationWill grey shirtal Anthem Singer for the Portland Storm and Thunder Football teams and occasionally for Portland Timbers Soccer and Portland Trailblazers in the 70’s and 80’s. As a composer, he wrote a three-movement “Mission Mountain Suite, ” a requiem mass, and wrote and arranged other works for choral groups and soloists. He particularly enjoyed writing funny songs for his choirs to sing.
He was a diehard Boston Red Sox fan from childhood on. He also loved to play softball, baseball and basketball. He was Pitcher, Outfielder in the Bar 19 Montana State championship, 1951; a participant in Regional Tourney, Casper, WY; inducted into Montana Softball Hall of Fame; an Outfielder, Mint Chips, Semi Pro Baseball league, Lewistown, MT.; Semi-finalist in Montana State Tourney, Miles City, MT, second place; a Jaycee Invitational Basketball Tourney participant. He was a Freshman Football Coach, Lewistown, MT. He also played with the Central Lutheran softball team.
We are enriched by the love he gave to each of us. His life was about kindness, laughter and music, and he shared those gifts with everyone he knew. He loved to tell jokes and stories and was forever the punster. His beautiful smile and sparkling eyes would light up the room, and we would wait for the mischief that was behind them to unfold. He is survived by his wife, Celia, former wife, Joyce Leonard, sons Gary (Sylvia), Eric (Eugenia), Matthew; Daughters Nancy Wilson (Don), Melody, and daughter-in-law, Laura; brothers Harold and Verne, and sister, Lorene; Ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Donald, Kenneth, Alfred, Howard and sister, Carol.
A celebration of his life will be held on March 7, 2010 at Central Lutheran Church, 1820 NE 21st Avenue, Portland, OR from 2 PM to 4 PM. Disposition is by cremation. His ashes will be scattered in the Mission Mountains of Montana. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Central Lutheran Church Restoration Fund or your local food bank.
