Myra J. Kedrst
Feb. 25, 1918 – Feb. 14, 2010
Myra was born in Kolin, Czechoslovakia (now know as the Czech Republic) on February, 25, 1918. At the age of 33, single and with two small children in tow, Myra traveled through Germany and Italy before leaving Europe to live in the United States for good. She worked as many things over the years; a nurse aide, waitress, laborer in a packaging plant – she was fiercely independent in all that she did. Case in point: at the age of 73, Myra abruptly picked up her life and moved to Portland, OR, because, as she told her surprised daughter, “I heard it was a nice place to live”. And she stayed there the rest of her life.
Let it be known that Myra adored her family, and, in turn, they adored her. Even the nursing staff where she’s resided the past couple of years felt a special bond with her.
Myra is survived by her daughter, Jane Cline, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date. The arrangements were taken care of by Crown Memorial Center in Portland.
