Jacqueline Cloydene Hoeft

Beloved wife, mother and friend, Jacqueline Cloydene Hoeft, passed away peacefully on October 25th at the age of 85 from complications of a stroke. Jackie was an active, long time resident of Tigard’s Eldorado Villas senior community.

Jackie was born in The Dalles Oregon on March 31, 1924 to Aurora and Cloyd Pixley. She and her family moved to Portland where eventually she and her two brothers were raised by their mother Aurora. Jackie met her future husband, Dick McMahon, while attending Franklin High School in Portland and they were married March 4, 1944.

Son, Rick, was born May 1, 1947 and the family spent over 30 years in the Parkrose area. Jackie spent most of her years as a homemaker, loving mother and wife. After Leslie passed away, Jackie developed some close friendships that led to travels throughout the Northwest, Arizona, California and Canada. She loved to listen to and play music and helped organize a wide variety of community functions.

Lorna Lillian Schippers
10/17/1917 – 10/24/2009

Lorna Schippers was born October 17, 1917 in the Canadian province of Manitoba in a tiny town called Snowflake to Lorne & Dorothy Boston (Handford). She spent her formative years in Snowflake and Cat Creek, Montana - graduating in 1936 from Fergus High School in Lewiston, Montana. Lorna was what you would call ’a pistol’; she joined the Marine Corps during WW II, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant where she was, among many things, an aviation spotter – a position she was understandably very proud of.

Lorna married her sweetheart, Howard Schippers, in Stevens, WA on March 15, 1947. They moved to Portland in the late 1940’s, then to Pendleton in 1952 to raise their children, Guy and Sally, where Lorna was also the school superintendent’s secretary. In 1969 the family moved to Lake Oswego where Lorna worked in social services. Lorna was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Episcopal Church, The Humane Society, a Cub Scout den mother, and a Bluebird mother. She was an accomplished portrait & scenic painter, loved gardening, and donated her time to helping the elderly and local groups raising animals.

Lorna is survived by her son, Guy and his wife Patricia; daughter, Sally Fitch; sister, Dorothy Curtis; grandchildren, Bryan, Jennifer and Shane, and great-grandchildren, Gavin, Zachary, Mackenzie, & Nakiaya. Lorna was preceded in death by her beloved husband Howard, who passed in 1989.

A memorial service with full honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 11 am. Memorial contributions should be made in her name to The Oregon Humane Society, and arrangements have been made by Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie. Please take a moment to sign the online guestbook.
