Cecelia “CeCe” Ann Bottorf
Cecelia “CeCe” Ann Bottorff (Fitzgerald) passed away April 29th in Portland, Oregon. She was fifty-nine. Born April 16th, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was raised primarily in Los Angeles, California. She moved to Oregon in the early 1980s. A high school graduate, she went on to also graduate from Beauty School. She worked in the telemarketing business, as well as being a caretaker and loving wife. She enjoyed knitting, painting and gardening.
Cecelia is survived by her husband Patrick Bottorff of Portland, Oregon, and sons Shawn Fitzgerald (of Tacoma, WA) and Marc (wife Wendy) Bottorff of Beaverton, OR. She is also survived by her daughter Cathy (husband Scott) Calwell. She is further survived by Charlie Bottorff and Dane Bottorff. More surviving members of her family include her five sisters: Sandy Fitzgerald, Sharon Fitzgerald, Lorie Brown, Lyndy Sabiba and Lynette Stocking, and two brothers, Larry Thorsen and George Fitzgerald.
She also is survived by nine grandchildren: Riley and Olivia Fitzgerald, Alyssa, Rebecca, Landen, Emily & Khyre Bottorff, and Ariel & Gabriel Ness. Cecelia was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia State-Fitzgerald.

Alexander “Alex” R. Cattanach
Long time Denver resident Alexander “Alex” R. Cattanach died at home in Portland, OR on April 29, 2010. He and Wendy, his wife of 40 years, moved to Portland in 2008. Born December 14, 1923 in Chicago, Alex grew into a modest man who loved life, people and the outdoors. He would rather you know about the Italian families who hid him from German soldiers than about the 54 WWII combat fighter missions in his P-47 that earned him a Distinguished Flying Cross in 1945. After leaving the Army Air Corps, Alex graduated from Purdue University in mechanical engineering (1948), and he made his living in the printing business. After retiring, he was an active volunteer, greeting school children at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science for 12 years, serving as a Denver County election judge and making bluebird boxes for the Audubon Society. He was also an 18-year member of the Mile-Hi Sertoma Club. Alex met his beloved wife Wendy hiking on a mountain trail and together they climbed 24 Colorado 14’ers and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon four times. They also skied, sailed, fished, camped and traveled extensively in the US, Great Britain and Europe.
The love of Wendy’s life, Alex is also survived by his sons Bruce, Glenn, Gregg, their families and his former wife Joan, as well as many friends. To remember Alex and celebrate his life, family and friends will come together at his home in Portland Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Ronald (Ron) Milton Oswalt
July 13, 1942 – April 29, 2010
Ronald Milton Oswalt, of Oregon City, Oregon, passed away on April 29, 2010, at the age of 67. Ron was born to Charles and Bertha (Moser) Oswalt in Portland, Oregon, on July 13, 1942, where he was primarily raised.
Ron attended Lincoln University in St. Joseph, Missouri, and later worked for Standard Brands Paint Company. He enjoyed writing, calling bingo at Marquis, reading and knitting. He is survived by his daughters Ronda Oswalt Reitz, Bonnie Marvin, and Penelope Horrace, and a son Kenneth Oswalt. Ron is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. His mother, Bertha Smeltzer died May 3, 2010, four days after Mr. Oswalt’s death.

Verona Lynn Caviness
1957 – 2010
Verona Lynn Caviness (Higgins) was granted her Angel Wings on April 29, 2010 at home in Rhododendron, Oregon. She fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September, 22, 1957, in Poplar, Montana. Growing up in Nampa, Idaho with her father and mother and three sisters, where she met and married her husband. Later she came to Oregon with her husband, Gary. She enjoyed time with her family and taking road trips, camping and fishing.
Verona is survived by her husband, Gary Caviness, 2 children and their spouse, Christy & Eric York, Brad and Niki Caviness, 4 grandchildren, CJ, Tiffany, Morgen & Braxton, her parents Bob and Frankie Higgins, 2 sisters and their spouses, Bonnie & Randy Ferguison, Cathy & George Olsen, Patty & Sean Daniels, 4 nieces and 3 nephews, her in-laws, Shannon & Sarah Darrah, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be at Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie on Friday, May 7th at 2:00 pm. A special thank you to Nurse Joyce Taylor of Kaiser Hospice, you made the world of difference to her. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.
Emma LaVerne Ballweber
Emma LaVerne Ballweber, 70, of Woodburn died April 24, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 3, 2010 at 2:00pm in Silver Creek Assisted Living in Woodburn.
Emma LaVerne Hagner was born July 29, 1939 in Vancouver, WA. She was raised in the Vancouver/Portland area and graduated from Gresham High School. She was a cashier for Texaco and also worked in several nursing homes in the Portland area. She loved square dancing and going to Spirit Mountain. She was a member of Toe Draggers Square Dance Group and the Rebekahs. She married James W. Ballweber June 14, 1969.
She is survived by her husband James Ballweber of Woodburn; stepdaughter’s Tammy Utto and Jeanette Ballweber both of Floodwood, Minnesota; brother Dale Hagner of Canby and sister Barbara Davis of Ridgefield, WA.

Samuel Curtis Bugarsky
Samuel Curtis “Curt” Bugarsky was born in Portland on April 9th, 1986 and passed away on April 23rd, 2010. He had worked in a furniture warehouse. He is survived by his parents, Sam and Tamara.
A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Oregon City.

Bede “Tex” Leo Sticka
Tex Sticka died Tuesday, April 27, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Sheffield, North Dakota, the son of John and Rose Sticka. Tex moved to Woodburn, OR in Feb. 1947. He lived in Concord, CA for many years where he was an ironworker before moving back to Oregon where he lived until his death.
Tex served in the US Army and National Guard. He was a member of the Moose, Elks and Eagles Lodges and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed making trips back to Concord to visit friends and loved golfing, fishing, trips to the casino and caring for his two cats. Tex is survived by his daughters Natalie Martinez and Michelle Gonzales; son Gilbert Sticka; grandchildren Jamie, Melissa, Rachel, Raymon, Raquel and Alexandra; brothers Barney, Tim and Jay all from Oregon and Frank of Sydney Australia; and his sisters Angie Lambert and Bernadette Ferrara. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gabe Sticka, Claudia Dawson and Hilda Johnson.
At Tex’ request, there will be no funeral services. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at 1:00 p.m., Saturday May 8th, Woodburn Eagles Lodge, 371 South Pacific Highway. Arrangements entrusted to Crown Memorial Center.
