Foster L. Wright
Foster L. Wright, 62, died July 1, 2002, at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland.
He was born Sept. 23, 1939, in California. He grew up in Northern California and Southern Oregon, but recently lived in Gold Beach and Brookings.
He worked briefly at the Port of Brookings Harbor and enjoyed the ocean and fishing.
Mr. Wright was a long-distance runner who continued to run after being severely burned. He ran in the Avenue of the Giants Run last spring.
He is survived by sons, Lewis F. Wright and Laurence Wright; daughters, Rebecca Wright, Nancy Simmons of California and Hilary and Emily Wright of Wyoming.
A memorial service will be at Gold Beach Church of Christ Friday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. with Jerry Dean officiating.
Sidney A. Moss
Sidney A. Moss, died Aug. 21, 2002, in his home in Port Falls, Idaho.
Moss was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Crews, Texas, to Samuel Albert and E. Lizzie Beth Moss.
He married
Mildred Hart Oct. 30, 1952, in Crescent City and moved to Idaho 11 years ago.
Moss served in the U.S. Army and was a laborer in the construction business. He was also a member of the Elks for 25 years in Brookings.
Survivors are his wife, Millie; sons and daughters in law, William and Terrie Moss of Spokane, Wash.; Ron and Ruth Moss of Lewiston, Idaho; Don and Linda Moss of Post Falls; Jeffery and Robin Moss of Post Falls; daughters, Mary Gates of Lynwood, Calif.; Karynne Fleming of Bakersfield, Calif.; brother, Alvin Moss of Bakersfield; sisters, Artie Jo Misner of Bakersfield; Addie Sylvester, Morro Bay, Calif.; Beth Oliviera of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; Maurine Whitener of Colfax, Calif., and Polly Bell, Santa Maria, Calif.
Preceded him in death by sons Joey and George Moss; sister Leta Crain and brother William Clinton Moss.

Private services will be at a later date. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, is in charge of the arrangements.
Janie Anderson
An informal memorial service for Janie Andersen is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Brookings Presbyterian Church, 540 Pacific Ave.

Henry Anthony Schwerkolt
Henry Anthony Schwerkolt, 93, died Aug. 20, 2002.
He was born Jan. 9, 1909, in Hawthorne, N.Y.
He served in the armed forces during World War II.
Mr. Schwerkolt moved to Nevada and worked as a dairy and bakery router for many years in Sparks before moving to Reno to work at the Veterans Hospital for eight years.
He was a musician, serving as an organist and pianist at Calvary Baptist and Evangelical Free churches in Reno for 25 years.
After moving to Brookings, he and his wife Jessie became members of Brookings Presbyterian Church in 1976. He was ordained an elder in 1979 and served as the church organist for five years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years in 1990.
A memorial service will be at Brookings Presbyterian Church Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m.

Hazel Louise Plummer
Hazel Louise Plummer, 93, died of natural causes, Aug. 17, 2002, in Crescent City.
Hazel was born Jan. 27, 1909, in West Planes, Mo., to Monroe Marshall and Birdie (Sloan) Marshall..
She grew up in the Great Plains and completed high school in Lincoln, Neb., with honors.
She began her career as a retail clerk and worked her way up to a manager for Safeway, then became a certified welder during the depression, building liberty ships and floating dry docks for the war effort. Then went back to work as a retail clerk. She later became a real estate broker to help her husband with his remodeling business.
Mrs. Plummer started the first Quick Stop Drive Through on Highway 99W in Willows, Calif. After running a ranching operation, she obtained her funeral director license and moved to Gold Beach to help her eldest son run Gold Beach Funeral Home on a seasonal basis.
She was married
to George Plummer from Montana for 45 years. In 1992, after her husband's death, she moved to Brookings.
Survivors are son, Gregory Plummer; daughter Lois Eidam, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Weir's Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Brookings.
Private interment will be at Malta cemetery, Malta, Mont.
Merith Morris
Merith Morris, 94, Harbor, died Aug. 22, 2002, of natural causes.
She was born March 31, 1908, in Gotland, Sweden, to Alma and Gustuf Allen.
She grew up in Minnesota and attended a one-room country school through eighth grade.
She married
Roy Hinz March 1930 in St. Paul, Minn.
She worked as a housekeeper, retiring in 1970.
She moved to Harbor in 1987 from Los Angeles.
Survivors include daughter, Maria Hinz-Tyler of Harbor; grandchildren, Kathryn Tyler-Rubio of Salt Lake City; Michael Tyler of Coos Bay; Patricia Tyler of Harbor; Mark Tyler of Coos Bay.
Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Quintin, Alexander, Daisy, Emma, Alicia, Shawn; and three great-great grandchildren Ismael, Benjamin, and Megan.
