Myrtle Lee Welch died at St. Catherine's Nursing Home in North Bend Nov. 8, 1999.
She was born March 6, 1928 in Sanford, Miss.
She and her husband, John E. Welch, and their five children moved to Curry County in 1954.
Mrs. Welch was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, home canning, shopping for bargains and being a stay at home mother.
Family members said she was always willing to help anyone in need and will be remembered for her kindness and caring.
Mrs. Welch is survived by her husband of Gold Beach and her daughter and son-in-law Mary Louise and Richard Brown of Anderson, Calif; sons, John Jr and Curtis of Gold Beach, Larry of Brookings and her daughter and son-in-law Ineetta and Vernon Stone of Redding, Calif.
She is also survived by grandchildren Richard, Rachelle, Johnathon, Jody, Wayne, Heather, Luke, Jessica, Seldon, Abby, Tiffany, Chelsea, Amber, Stephanie and six great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contribution be given to Curry County Home Health and Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Litty Funeral Directors, Gold Beach Chapel.
Nora Lea Bunker
Nora Lea Bunker, 72, Harbor, died Friday, Nov. 12, at her home.
She was born April 18, 1927, in Burbank, Calif., to Thomas and Dora Thompson. She was raised and educated in La Crescenta and Tehachapi, Calif.
She married
Bobby Bunker in 1957. The couple moved to the Brookings area 10 years ago.
Mrs. Bunker enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, stained glass, reading and most of all loving her family.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Bob Bunker of Harbor; a son, Thomas Bunker and his fiance Janice of Coos Bay; daughters, Tani Statler and her husband Ray Statler of Brookings, Cheryl Niccoli and her husband Frank of Salinas, Calif, and Susan Webster and her husband Danny of Phoenix, Ariz.; and her sisters, Olita Van Northeim of Newhall, Calif., and Thelma Whitson of Palmdale, Calif.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bunker was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dora Thompson, and one brother.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlin's Brookings Mortuary and Chapel. Inurnment will be at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, Calif.
Roger Eugene Pierce
An open house in the memory of Roger Eugene Pierce, 60, Brookings, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at the family home, 203 Cedar St, Brookings.
He was born Aug. 4, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, and died Nov. 9, 1999, in Brookings.
Mr. Pierce was a chief warrant officer and worked 42 years for the Oregon Army National Guard. He and his wife Betty were married
in 1980. They moved to the Brookings area from Dayton, Ore., in 1997.
Mr. Pierce enjoyed gardening, watching football, traveling, sightseeing and bowling. His greatest loves were his grandchildren, family and popcorn, according to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Pierce of Brookings; a son, Aaron Pierce of Eugene; a daughter, Debbie Dunlop of Junction City; four brothers, Wayne, Larry and Darrell Pierce of Correctionville, Iowa, and Terry Pierce of Redmond; his mother, Mable Pierce of Correctionville; step-daughter, Carrie Johnson of Dayton; step-son, Danny Buresh of Cache, Okla.; five grandsons and four granddaughters.
Arrangements are under the direction of Litty Funeral Directors Brookings Chapel.
Lucy Ellen Watson
A memorial service for Lucy Ellen Watson, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church.
She was born May 19, 1921, in Trent, Dorset, England, and died Nov. 7, 1999, in Crescent City.
She moved to Toronto, Ont., in 1947, where she met and married
her husband, Kenneth Watson, on Oct. 21, 1955.
The couple moved to Half Moon Bay, Calif., in 1960, where she was a member of the Episcopal Church, the San Mateo Nursing Association and the Fund for Animals.
The couple moved to the Brookings area in December 1988.
Survivors include her husband Ken Watson of Brookings; a son Gary Watson of Brookings; and a brother and sister-in-law Gordon and Honor Miller of Brookings. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Senz.

Darlynn J. Bailey
Services for Darlynn J. Bailey, 74, Gold Beach, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Gold Beach.
She was born in Ashland on Jan. 8, 1925, to Jessie Bailey and Mary Elizabeth (Harlow) Bailey. She was raised and educated in Eugene and Spokane, Wash. She attended Oregon College of Education, Oregon State University and University of Oregon, where she earned bachelor of science, bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees.
She married
Ralph Guild Bailey in 1971 in Florence, and they made their home in Chicago, Ill., for two years before moving to Gold Beach in 1973.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Soroptimist Club, the garden club and the Curry County Art Association, where she served as president. She was also active with the art association at the Curry County Fair and was teaching extension classes for Southwestern Oregon Community College. Her hobbies included gardening and art.
Survivors include her son Mark Harrington of Gold Beach; a daughter Sandy Kirk of Gold Beach; a sister Marilyn Price of Salem; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Mary Bailey.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlin's Gold Beach Mortuary and Chapel.
Donald Verle Brey
A memorial service for Donald Verle Brey, 62, Brookings, was held Nov. 1 at Victory Baptist Church.
He was born July 31, 1937, in LaCrosse, Wisc., and died Oct. 27, 1999, in Brookings.
Mr. Brey moved to the area in 1953. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, and a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Brey of Brookings; a son, Johnnie Brey of Missouri; a daughter, Veronda Decker of Portland; two brothers, Butch Brey of Harbor and Barry Brey of Brookings; two sisters, Lorainine Niccum of Harbor and Loreta Sanders of Kirby; four grandsons, two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Private inurnment will be at Eagle Point National cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Litty Funeral Directors Brookings Chapel.
Lynne May Smith
Lynne May Smith, 89, died Nov. 7, 1999, in Crescent City.
She was born Jan. 12, 1910, in Texas, and was a 70-year resident of Sacramento, Calif., before moving to the area in May 1993.
During World War II, she worked as an aircraft engine inspector at McClellan Field Maintenance Depot. She was a 50-year member of the Rainbow Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Survivors include her son, Oscar Marks of Crescent City, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Smith.
