Gary W. Roozen
Gary W. Roozen died May 27, 2001, at age 86.
Mr. Roozen was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Holland.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He lived in Portland for the past 30 years and was a carpenter.
He married
Fern H. Jones in 1978.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Sister Margaret Roozen; stepdaughters, Patricia L. Wohlford and Carole A. Lund; stepsons, Robert E. Jones and Richard R. Jones; brothers, Joe and Tony; and grandchildren.

Lucile Simpson
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Terwilliger Plaza for Lucile Simpson, who died May 26 at age 92.
Mrs. Simpson was born Lucile Pettit on Dec. 9, 1908, in Spokane.
She graduated from Eastern Washington University.
She was an elementary school teacher for several school districts in Washington and also for Portland Public Schools, including Llewellyn Elementary, until her retirement in 1972.
She moved to Portland in 1941.
In 1932, she married
Merald Simpson; he died in 1985.
Survivors include her son, Justin; daughter, Joan Brock; and three grandchildren.
Interment in Portland Memorial Indoor cemetery.

Kyron Sorensen
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for Kyron "Ky" Sorensen, who died May 26 at age 61.
Mr. Sorensen was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Lincoln, Neb.
He was raised in California and moved to Portland in the early 1970s.
He was an electrical technician for American Totalisator Co. and later was a driver for Apria Healthcare.
In 1973, he married
Gae Neal.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Bryten McNickle; son, Derek; mother, Jean; and brothers, Kerry and Kimberly.
Interment in Lincoln Memorial Park.
Mike John Tabshy
A recitation of the rosary will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Portland for Mike John Tabshy, who died May 26 at age 81.
A memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the church.
Mr. Tabshy was born June 6, 1919, in Portland, where he lived all his life.
He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School and worked for Fred Meyer for 32 years, retiring from the Peninsula store in about 1985.
In 1951, he married
Caroline Dellarmi; she died in 1993.
Survivors include his sons, Paul and John; brother, Sam; sisters, Isabelle Storm and Victoria George; and four grandchildren.

Wilford Everett Thatcher
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2001, in the Oregon City Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Wilford Everett Thatcher, who died May 30 at age 81.
Mr. Thatcher was born Aug. 25, 1920, in Soda Springs, Idaho.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe and earned a Purple Heart.
He moved to Portland in the mid-1950s and co-founded Teeples & Thatcher General Contractors Inc., which was involved in large construction projects in several states.
He retired in the early 1980s.
He was active in the church and in 1973 was president of the Columbia River Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was later ordained as the Oregon City Stake patriarch, a position he held until his death.
In 1940, he married
Marion Estella Trone; she died in 1993.
Later that year, he married
Lorraine Cardwell.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Lester, Leo, Robert, David and Karl; daughters, Carol Brown, Nathalia Crookston, Ann Griffith and Joy Candrian; stepsons, Phil Cardwell, Craig Cardwell, Chris Cardwell and Michael Cardwell; stepdaughters, Sandy Haines, Marcia Day, Teresa Horton, Patty Woolsey and Pamela Adams; brother, John; sister, Marleen Littlefield; 102 grandchildren; and 64 great-grandchildren.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery.

Mr. Wenzinger was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Portland.
He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and then in the U.S. Air Force.
He worked for Sawyer's Viewmaster for 12 years and then in sales for General Distributing, now Mt. Hood Distributing, for 23 years until retiring in 1989 to Pacific City. In 1954, he married
Charlsie Spangler.
Survivors include his wife; son, Mike; daughters, Michele Allbright and Sue Jensen; brothers, Albert and Glen; and seven grandchildren.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Logan Pleasant View cemetery north of Oregon City for Leroy Collister "Nick" Wheeler, who died May 29 at age 78.
Mr. Wheeler was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Park Place.
He graduated from West Linn High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Asia and the Pacific.
He lived most of his life in Oregon City and was a salesman for Oregon City Laundry for 33 years.
He later was a truck driver for Keller Drop Box for nine years.
In 1945, he married
Barbara Jean Beatie; she died in 1999.
Survivors include his son, Robert L.; daughter, Kathleen S. Beckett; brother, Jack; and three grandchildren.

Cash Williams
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2001, in Skyline Memorial Gardens for Cash Williams, who died May 30 at age 77.
Mr. Williams was born March 22, 1924, in Bee Log, N.C.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe and received a Purple Heart.
He moved to Portland in 1947 and was a carpenter and millworker until retiring in 1986.
He moved to Salem in 1998.
In 1948, he married
LaVerne Austin.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Joyce; son, Glenn; sisters, Edna Higgins and Kathleen Haney; and brother, Kenneth.

Debra Lynn Witt
A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in Vancouver, Wash., for Debra Lynn Witt, who died May 30 at age 40. Mrs. Witt was born Debra Lynn Burgus on Dec. 11, 1960, in Portland.
She graduated from high school in Hermiston.
She returned to Portland in 1985 and was a teacher's aide for Childswork Learning Center and Tucker-Maxon Oral School for a total of nine years.
In 1983, she married
Scott Witt.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Kaelei M.; brother, Steve Burgus; and parents, Ken and Dorothy Burgus.

Paul Louis Adams
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2001, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Battle Ground, Wash., for Paul Louis Adams, who died May 29 at age 80. A prayer vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 3, in the church.
Mr. Adams was born May 20, 1921, in Altoona, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in China, Burma and India and earned two Bronze Stars.
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University and was a forester for the U.S. Forest Service until retiring.
He lived and worked in the Mt. Hood National Forest for 15 years, and later moved to Battleground in 1980.
In 1970, he married
Vicki Menefee.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Elizabeth; sisters, M. Marjorie Adams, Shirley Simmers and JoAnne Riley; and brothers, Robert and Donald.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery.
