Victoria Josephine Hargrave
A gathering will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at the family home in Grand Ronde for Victoria Josephine Hargrave, who died July 23 at age 60. Mrs. Hargrave was born Victoria Josephine Harbin on Dec. 28, 1940, in Los Angeles and moved in 1977 to Portland. She was president of Pinnacle Software, retiring in 1995. She married
Stanley Hargrave in 1979.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Jason Hargrave, Christopher Hargrave and Eric McCally; daughters, Serena Dunkle and Samantha McCally; brother, William Harbin; and five grandchildren.

Ruth M. Hogan
Ruth M. Hogan died July 15, 2001, at age 81. Mrs. Hogan was born Ruth Meador on March 17, 1920, in Portland. She was a teller for U.S. National Bank, retiring in 1975. She lived in Portland and in Beaverton. In 1966, she married
Charles Hogan; he died in 1996.
Survivors include her stepsons, Larry Hogan and Robert Hogan; step-daughters, Julia Behunin and Eileen Louie; seven grandchildren; and six-great-grandchildren.

Robert V. Houston
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in St. James Episcopal Church in Tigard for Robert V. "Bob" Houston, who died July 24 at age 78. Mr. Houston was born March 6, 1923, in Klamath Falls. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in New Zealand and played drums in the Marine Corps Band. After the war, he moved to Portland, where he was advertising manager for Zidell Marine for 25 years, retiring in 1975. After his retirement, he moved to Nehalem, where he owned Houston T-shirt Shop for 10 years. He moved to Tigard in 1992 and to Newberg in 2000. In 1946, he married
Audrey Buckley.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Nancy J. Steffen; sons, Robert B., Mark S. and Matt G.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ole Kittleson
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Assembly of God Portland Christian Center for Ole Kittleson, who died July 27 at age 51. Mr. Kittleson was born Jan. 8, 1950, in Portland. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a mechanic at Thomas Damerow Ford in Beaverton for the past 22 years. In 1975, he married
Sandra Bird.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ole M. and Nathan; father, Ole H.; sister, Bonnie Bowlsby; and brother, Jim.

Gloria Elizabeth Lafromboise
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in Zeller Chapel of the Roses for Gloria Elizabeth Lafromboise, who died July 27 at age 75. Mrs. Lafromboise was born Gloria Elizabeth Erb on May 27, 1926, in Seattle. A homemaker, she moved to Portland in 1960. In 1946, she married
Neil D. Lafromboise.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Denise Roberts and Michelle Thompson; and two grandchildren.

John L. Mikesh
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in Andresen Church of Christ in Vancouver, Wash. for John L. Mikesh, who died July 30 at age 89. Mr. Mikesh was born June 26, 1912, in Odessa, Wash., and moved to Scappoose as a child. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Afterward, he returned to Scappoose and was a construction superintendent for several companies in Portland for about 25 years, retiring in 1976. He lived in Vancouver, Wash. since 1985. In 1949, he married
Bernice E. Miller.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Dennis P., John Jr. and Robert L.; daughter, Darcy E. Krusinski; brother, Charles A.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

John Andrew Neelands Jr.
John Andrew Neelands Jr. died July 21, 2001, at age 84. Mr. Neelands was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Ypsilanti, Mich. He moved to Portland in 1938. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a salesman for Weiler Chevrolet before retiring in 1978. In 1940, he married
Georgia Ann Norby; she died in 2000.
Survivors include his son, John A. III; daughters, Judith A. Lewis and Mary J. Erickson; brother, Robert A.; and one grandchild.

Donald Ross Palmateer
Donald Ross Palmateer died July 8, 2001, at age 76. Mr. Palmateer was born Sept. 28, 1924, in Owosso, Mich. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He lived in Vanport and then in Cascade Locks, Troutdale, Portland and Carver. He was a sheet metal worker for Brod & McClung until retiring in 1990. He lived in Elsie since 1992. In 1947, he married
Josephine Klingbile; she died in 1999.
Survivors include his stepson, Dennis Klingbile; stepdaughter, Sharon Petri-Arbuckle; sister, Darlene Gentry; brothers, Harold Lavender and Jerry Lavender; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His stepson Roger Klingbile died in April.

Ann Pheister
A funeral Mass will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Eugene for Ann Pheister, who died July 27 at age 91. Mrs. Pheister was born Ann Dolan on Oct. 9, 1909, in Battle Ground, Wash. A homemaker, she moved to Portland as a young woman and moved to Eugene in about 1997. In 1930, she married
Kenneth E. Pheister; he died in 1989.
Survivors include her son, Ron; daughter, Peggy Wittkop; sister, Agnes Patton; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her son Robert died in the late 1950s.

Richard E. 'Pat' Reid
A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Richard E. "Pat" Reid, who died July 25 at age 82. Mr. Reid was born Dec. 2, 1918, in Prescott, Ariz. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne in Europe, including in the Normandy invasion, and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. A retired home builder, he lived in Salem, Albany and Reno, Nev., before moving in 2000 to Portland. In 1948, he married
Edna A. Parks.
Survivors include his wife; son, Edwin C.; and three grandchildren.

Ethel Sperling Wold
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in Rose City cemetery for Ethel Sperling Wold, who died July 28 at age 84. Mrs. Wold was born Ethel Sperling on Jan. 3, 1917, in Portland. She graduated from Jefferson High School. She was an office manager for Hansen Rowland Insurance for 42 years, retiring in 1983. In 1963, she married
Bennie J. Wold; he died in 1979.
Survivors include her brother, Lloyd Melcher.

Elmer Elijah Anderson
Elmer Elijah Anderson died June 29, 2001, at age 96. Mr. Anderson was born July 3, 1904, in Morganville, Kan. He was a farmer in Kansas until moving in 1941 to Blackfoot, Idaho, where he farmed and worked for American Potato Co. He later was a greenskeeper for the Blackfoot city golf club, retiring in 1961. He then lived in Arizona, moving in 1974 to to Newberg. In 1928, he married
Florence Welch; she died in 1980.
Survivors include his son, Elwyn; sisters, Irene Balthazor and Geneva Harkins; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Service held. Interment in Valley Memorial Park in Newberg. Arrangements by Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel.
Paul E. Barnes
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Holman's Funeral Service for Paul E. "Rotten Rick" Barnes, who died July 4 at age 75. Mr. Barnes was born March 27, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa. He moved to Portland from California in 1968 and was a welder and fabricator for several companies, retiring in 1988. In 1989, he married
Lois D. Campbell.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kathy Hall and Annette Cohen; son, Rick; stepdaughters, Holly Cook, Peggy Voyles, Korrenia Bartz and Shelly Luff; sister, Veta I. Bates; brother, Jule E.; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
