Ronald Lee Welch
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for Ronald Lee Welch, who died Jan. 21 of a heart attack at age 47. Mr. Welch was born June 26, 1953, in Portland, where he lived all his life. He graduated from Grant High School and was a security guard for the church for the past seven years, where he also was a member.
Survivors include his sons, Marcus L., Nathanial L. and Freddie R.; stepdaughter, Sabrina L.; the children he was helping raise, Katera Perry and Michael Johnson; mother, Jean Proctor; brothers, Alvin L. and John R. Williams; sisters, Theresa A., Doreen A. Williams, Donna L. Williams and Sheila E. Williams; companion, Angela Johnson; and six grandchildren.
Interment will be in Columbian cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to his church. Arrangements are by Vann & Vann Funeral Directors.
Larry Lewis Winkelman
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Sunset Hills Memorial Park for Larry Lewis Winkelman, who died Jan. 21 at age 83. Mr. Winkelman was born April 6, 1917, in Montana and moved to the Portland area as a child. He worked for Timber Structures for more than 30 years before his retirement in the mid-1970s. He moved to Medford in 1993.
Survivors include his son, Gary; brother, Bill; and three grandchildren.

Wanda Arlene Winner
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Peace Mennonite Church for Wanda Arlene Winner, who died Jan. 20 of breast cancer at age 70. Mrs. Winner was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Kettleman, Calif. Her maiden name was Dunn. She moved to Parkdale in 1952 and five years later to Boring, where she had a rhododendron nursery. She was a homemaker and a member of the church. In 1948, she married
Dan Winner.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Randy and Sam; daughters, Ruth Winner-Dexter and Laura Winner-Othman; and six grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes.
Constance Lewis Abbott
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in Christ Episcopal Church in Lake Oswego for Constance Lewis Abbott, who died July 8 at age 73. Mrs. Abbot was born Constance Lewis on June 5, 1928, in Seattle. She worked in the Boeing library in Seattle and for several other public and private libraries. After moving to Portland in 1968, she was a supervisor for several branches of Multnomah County Library for 25 years before retiring in 1993. In 1955, she married
Gheen R. Abbott III.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Gheen R. IV and Christopher L.; and sisters, Dorothy B. Lewis and Martha J. Scully.

Walter M. Barker
Walter M. Barker died July 22, 2001, at age 86. Mr. Barker was born Oct. 23, 1914, in Portland. He graduated from Franklin High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Mr. Barker was a police officer in Portland for 35 years, retiring in 1970. In 1945, he married
Marion Collins.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Carol Currey andKit Duncan; sons, Russ and Randy; brother, Danr; and three grandchildren. His daughter Robin Lynn Ripley died in 1994.

Kenneth Barnett
A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in St. John's Funeral Home for Kenneth Barnett, who died July 29 at age 85. Mr. Barnett was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Moscow, Idaho, and lived in Portland most of his life. He served in the Armyin 1945. He was a shipping clerk for L & M Equipment, retiring in the 1970s. He married
Eleanor J. Peters in the 1960s; she died in 1984.
Survivors include his sons; Kenneth L. and Byron R.; daughter, Carolyn Starr; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Interment in Skyline Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Oregon Humane Society.
Merrill James Collins
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Merrill James Collins, who died July 25 at age 79. Mr. Collins was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Bertram, Iowa, and moved to Falls City as a child. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He was a landscaper for Don's Landscaping in Portland for about 20 years, retiring in 1987. In 1971, he married
Aggie Lou Zaerr; she died in 1988.
Survivors include his brother, Freeman.

Charles K. Coolidge Jr.
Charles K. Coolidge Jr., died July 22, 2001, at age 64. Mr. Coolidge was born July 9, 1937, in Klickitat, Wash. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was an eligibility worker for the City of San Francisco, retiring in 2001. He lived in Portland from 1955 to 1960.
Survivors include his sisters, Lucile Brown, Beatrice Lucas and Joanne Brown; and brother, Carl.

Rod Galyen
A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in the Canby home of Rod Galyen, who died July 16 at age 53. Mr. Galyen was born April 30, 1948, in Lebanon. He received his bachelor's degree and doctorate from Oregon Health & Science University. He was a professor of nursing at the Linfield College Portland campus for the past 17 years, and had taught psychiatric nursing at Clatsop Community College in Astoria for about the past 15 years. In 1970, he married
Kai King.
Survivors include his wife; brothers, Bob and Frank; and sisters, Carolyn Galyen and Dorothy Ermence.

Charles Nelson Gaymon
Charles Nelson Gaymon died July 24, 2001, at age 90. Mr. Gaymon was born Oct. 4, 1910, in Steamboat Springs, Colo. He owed a Shell station, worked for Kraft Mill and the U.S. Forest Service. For more than 16 years he was a custodian for the GreshamSchool District. He retired in 1975. In 1939, he married
Fredona Beebe; she died in 1987. In 1988, he married
Grace Morey Stedman.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Charlene Hanson and Kathleen Lee; step-daughter, Julie Stedman; and four grandchildren.

Charles W. Griffen
Charles W. Griffen died July 14, 2001, at age 76. Mr. Griffen was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Sioux City, Iowa. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. In 1946, he moved to Portland, where he was a dispatcher for several truck lines, retiring from East Texas Motor Freight in the late 1980s. In 1945, he married
Mina B. Rasmussen.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Robert G. and Keith W.; daughter, Shirley A.; and four grandchildren.

Henry Guenther
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Young's Funeral Home for Henry Guenther, who died July 26 at age 80. Mr. Guenther was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Bend and moved to Portland in 1923. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a machinist for several companies and then was a self-employed tool and dye maker for 20 years before retiring in 1986. In 1946, he married
Doreen Kilpatrick; she died in 1994.
Survivors include his son, Paul; sister, Evelyn Gutowsky; and one grandchild.

Phyllis Natwick Hallock
Phyllis Natwick Hallock died July 28, 2001, at age 82. Mrs. Hallock was born Phyllis Natwick on April 6, 1919, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. She grew up in Ontario, Canada and Washougal, Wash. She had lived in Portland since 1950, graduating from St. Helen's Hall and the University of Oregon. She was a concert pianist and music teacher.
Survivors include her daughters, Stephanie Cummins and Leslie Hallock; son, Christopher Hall; and sister, Grace Hendricks.
