William H. Amundson
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Evangelical Free Church in La Center, Wash., for William H. "Bill" Amundson, who died April 25 at age 71. Mr. Amundson was born May 28, 1929, in Flandreau, S.D. He served in the U.S. Navy. He moved to the Portland area in 1951 and was a marine electrician at the Swan Island shipyards. He later was a maintenance electrician for Treasure Chest Advertising until retiring. He moved to La Center in 1989. In 1968, he married
Dolores Weber.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Randy, Wayne and Joehl; stepsons, Richard Wendell and Bill Wendell; daughter, Cheryl Corum; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Greulich; mother, Evelyn F.; brother, Wallace; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His son Mark died in 1979.

Curtis William Borchardt
A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Curtis William Borchardt, who died April 26 at age 66. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, in Living Savior Lutheran Church in Tualatin. Mr. Borchardt was born July 23, 1934, in Fremont, Wis. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1979, when he moved to Lake Oswego. He served in the Vietnam and Korean wars and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. In 1961, he married
Cynthia Buehner.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Kimberly and Kristina; son, Scott; brother, Karleton; sister, Karen; and one grandchild.

Federico Corona
A memorial Mass will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Portland for Federico Corona, who died April 25 at age 50. Mr. Corona was born July 27, 1950, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He immigrated to New York City and moved to Portland in 1981. He worked in word processing for several organizations, including the Port of Portland. He was also a teaching assistant and translator for Portland Public Schools for two years. He later was a human resource specialist for Oregon Adult and Family Services until January of this year.
Survivors include his son, Anthony; mother, Gabriela Ortiz; sisters, Mercedes Cordova, Maria Eugenia Arcia and Marta Maldonaldo; brother, Carlos; and one grandchild.

Irene Mae 'Melody' Fox
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Zeller Chapel of the Roses for Irene Mae "Melody" Fox, who died April 25 at age 79. Mrs. Fox was born Irene Cogdill on Feb. 26, 1922, in Lytle, Texas. She moved to Portland in 1935. She was a vocalist who sang with several small bands, mainly on the Oregon coast, before becoming a homemaker. In the late 1950s, she married
Carl W. Fox.
Survivors include her husband; son, Michael Varn; daughter, Arlene Hansen; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

E. Dale Fuller
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn for E. Dale Fuller, who died April 26 at age 83. Mr. Fuller was born Jan. 7, 1918, in Yamhill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific. He moved to Gervais in 1931 and was a mechanic and later a rural route mail carrier until he retired. He was the chief of the Waconda Fire Department. In 1948, he married
Betty Sparks.
Survivors include his wife; sons, David and Paul; daughter, Janice; sisters, Ruth Stanton, Nina Fickel and Mabel Green; and three grandchildren.

Mary Galloway
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Hustad Funeral Home for Mary Galloway, who died April 26 at age 95. Mrs. Galloway was born Mary Lee on Aug. 11, 1905, in Stevensville, Mont. She moved to Portland in the mid-1920s and owned, with her husband, Galloway's Electric & Appliance Store in St. Johns until 1964. In 1926, she married
Joseph C. Galloway; he died in 1987.
Survivors include her daughter, Anna May Beck; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Mary Lee Peterson died April 18.

Jennifer Michele Johnson-Roseboro
A funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for Jennifer Michele Johnson-Roseboro, who died April 24 at age 29.
Ms. Johnson-Roseboro was born Jennifer Michele Johnson on June 7, 1971, in Portland. She lived in Vancouver, Wash., and attended school there. She was a homemaker and also a writer of short stories and poetry. She had published her writing in several magazines. In 2000, she married
Wallace Roseboro.
Survivors include her husband; son, Jesse N. Schindler; mother, Lorita Johnson; father, Mark Johnson; grandfather, Weldon Buster; and former husband, William Schindler.

Jerry Jones
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Evergreen Christian Center Foursquare in Hillsboro for Jerry Jones, who died April 25 at age 54. Mr. Jones was born April 15, 1947 in Fullerton, Calif. He was raised in Anaheim and served in the U.S. Army, including service in Vietnam. He was a meat cutter and later manager for a meat-cutting company in Los Angeles until he became disabled. He moved to Cornelius in 1988.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeanice and sister, Penny L. Kimball.

William C. Laughlin Jr.
A service will be at noon Monday, April 30, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for William C. Laughlin Jr., who died April 25 at age 72. Mr. Laughlin was born Sept. 14, 1928, in St. Joseph, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Portland after World War II and was a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1993. In 1951, he married
Laura Kirby.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Amy Haevischer, Tamara Hutchins, Peggy Fugate, Debbie Laughlin and Cindy Poulin; sons, William C. III, Oliver and Kirby; sisters, Lola Pascua, Bettee Apao and Joan Shirzawa; brothers, Ernest and Donald; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Suzanne Mead
A funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in Vancouver, Wash., for Suzanne Mead, who died April 25 at age 57. Mrs. Mead was born Suzanne Baker on May 28, 1943, in Kankakee, Ill. She moved to Seattle and later to Vancouver. She founded Northwest Office Services and was controller at Pacific Control Supply for 10 years. She was past president of the Hazel Dell Business Association and sought election as a Clark County commissioner in 1984. She was president of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and was a board member for two fire districts in Vancouver. In 1979, she married
Charles W. Mead.
Survivors include her husband; stepdaughters, Darcy Taylor and Cristin Jackson; son, John Lohman; stepbrothers, Bill Gott Jr. and Jim Gott; and eight grandchildren. Her daughter Beth Rowan died in 1997.
Interment in Parkhill cemetery in Vancouver. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.
Helen M. Peterson
A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Elliot Residence, Marian Estates, in Sublimity for Helen M. Peterson, who died April 25 at age 87. Mrs. Peterson was born Helen M. Rinker on April 17, 1914, in Portland. She graduated from Washington High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a teller for First National Bank in Portland and later moved to Grants Pass in 1951, where she was a homemaker. She moved to Sublimity in 1996. In 1947, she married
Jens Peterson; he died in 1984.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Pierce and Lori McCauley; and two grandchildren.

Herman Roth
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Town Center Village for Herman Roth, who died April 25 at age 95. Mr. Roth was born Aug. 16, 1905, in Jersey City, N.J. He was a self-employed musician who lived most of his life in Long Beach, Calif. He moved to Portland from California in 1995.

Virginia M. Sampson
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Portland Memorial Funeral Home for Virginia M. Sampson, who died April 27 at age 76. Ms. Sampson was born May 3, 1924, in Bensenville, Ill. She moved to the Portland as a child. She was a supervisor at a plant nursery for 20 years until retiring. She was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Gresham.
Survivors include her daughters, Terry Heffler, Vicki Hemminger, Deborah Paulson and Debra Gilbert; son, Bruce Gilbert; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
