Larry M. Fugit Jr.
Larry M. Fugit Jr. died April 6, 2001, at age 36. Mr. Fugit was born June 2, 1964, in Carson City, Calif., and graduated from McMinnville High School in 1981. He graduated from the Oregon School of Massage in 1996 and was a self-employed massage therapist. He also worked part-time at the River's Edge Athletic Club in Lake Oswego. In 1997, he married
Nancy L. Susman.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Owen H. Fugit and Jonathan W. Travis; mother, Georget Lozada; brothers, Steve C. Scott, Jay Fugit and Shawn Fugit; sisters, Desiree Perry, Kimberly Raastad, Lisa Carson, Nicole Brasier and Lanette Fugit; and grandmother, Mildred.

Erma I. Gray
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Forest Grove Memorial Chapel for Erma I. Gray, who died April 17 at age 74. Mrs. Gray was born Erma I. Coombes on May 13, 1926, in Spokane and raised in the Baker City area. She graduated from Pacific University in 1949. She was a homemaker who was later an adult caregiver. She lived in Forest Grove, returning to the Baker City area in 1991. She was a founding member of Cornelius Christian Church. In 1947, she married
Clifford Gray; he died in 1996.
Survivors include her sons, Franklin L. and Joseph V.; daughters, Sandra P. Garcia, Carol M. Pelky and Rebecca S. Larrimore; mother, Maude P. Coombes; brothers, Donald Coombes, Ben Coombes, Jasper Coombes, George Coombes and Ed Coombes; sister, Jabudah Grossmiller; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her daughter Jean Holober died in 1983.
Interment in Forest View cemetery in Forest Grove. Remembrances to Ninos de Mexico, a children's orphanage.
Clarence Handley
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Adams Chapel in River View cemetery for Clarence Handley, who died April 20 at age 74. Mr. Handley was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Greenfield, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He moved to Portland in 1962 and was a truck driver for several companies. He later was a truck dispatcher for Central Dispatch until his retirement. In 1949, he married
Fay Ola Dankworth; she died in 2000.
Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Munn; sister, Isabelle Hynson; and one grandchild.

Virginia Smith Horton
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Virginia Smith Horton, who died April 18 at age 79. Ms. Horton was born Virginia Smith on Nov. 30, 1921, in Springfield, Mo. She served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. She was a homemaker who also worked for an insurance company. She lived in the Tri-Cities area of Washington and later in Arizona before moving to Clackamas County four years ago.
Survivors include her sons, Sam and George; daughters, Harriet Evans, Rebecca Collins, Laura O'Toole and Mary Geyer; and five grandchildren.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements by Holman Hankins Bowker & Waud.
Catherine Jones
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Adams Chapel in Riverview cemetery for Catherine "Katy" Jones, who died April 19 at age 79. Mrs. Jones was born Catherine McConnachie on May 4, 1921, in Glasgow, Scotland. She was a homemaker who immigrated to Portland in about 1975. She later lived in Beaverton. In 1940, she married
Alexander MacDonald; he died in about 1960. In 1985, she married
John Paul Jones.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Alexander W. MacDonald, Kenneth G. MacDonald and John MacDonald; brother, John McConnachie; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Irene M. Kelsey
A funeral will be at 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, in Rose of Sharon Lutheran Brethren Church in Portland for Irene M. Kelsey, who died April 19 at age 75. Mrs. Kelsey was born Irene M. Dokken on Sept. 2, 1925, in Lemmon, S.D. She moved to Portland in about 1950, and was a real estate broker until retiring in 1990. She was a member of the church. She was a volunteer for Loaves & Fishes and a volunteer English-language tutor. In 1966, she married
Robert Kelsey.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Mary Trimble, Karin Gentry and Melodee Gallucci; son, James Stock; sisters, Dee Rolsing, Doris Storm and Luella Petrie; brother, Donald Dokken; and six grandchildren.

Linda Gladys Lande
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, in Escobar Pioneer cemetery in Gresham for Linda Gladys Lande, who died April 15 at age 57. Mrs. Lande was born Linda Gladys Ackerman on Feb. 6, 1944, in Portland. She attended Franklin High School. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Pamela C. Lande-Porter and Carolyn J. Lande-Paugh; sons, Larry C. Jr. and Bryan E.; and 11 grandchildren.

Alan Dale Larsen
Alan Dale Larsen died April 12, 2001, at age 82. A service was held. Mr. Larsen was born Nov. 4, 1918, in Ephraim, Utah. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to Portland in 1947 and was an electrician for Oregon Steel Mills until retiring in 1983. In 1947, he married
Wanda Latimer.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Cheryl Glass, Linda Ruiz and Peggy Garcia; son, Scott; sisters, Lucille McClure, Shirley Cruz and Fern Pixton; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ramona Lisa McGee
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Portland for Ramona Lisa McGee, who died April 15 at age 34. Miss McGee was born Oct. 17, 1966, in Portland. She attended Franklin High School. She was a certified nursing assistant for Holladay Park Plaza. She was also a member of Lifeline Christian Church.
Survivors include her son, Greg Bryce; sisters, Veronica McGee-Taylor, Monica McGee, Della Barron and Deborah Cross; and brothers, Darrell L. Jones and Ernie McGee.

Dolly G. Mitchell
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Finley's Sunset Hills Mortuary for Dolly G. Mitchell, who died April 21 at age 89. Mrs. Mitchell was born Dolly G. Martin on June 9, 1911, in Portland. She was a homemaker and also a past treasurer for both the Daughters of the Nile and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church. In 1929, she married
O. James Mitchell; he died in 1996.
Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy Krofft and June Meyer; sister, Vera White; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Interment in Finley's Sunset Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. Remembrances to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Loretta J. Oakleaf
Loretta J. Oakleaf died April 12, 2001, at age 76. Mrs. Oakleaf was born Loretta J. Hollenbeck on March 3, 1925, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. She moved to Portland from Iowa and was a homemaker. She moved to Waldport in 1996. In 1943, she married
Richard Oakleaf; he died in 1991.
Survivors include her sons, Robert D., Dan D., Raymond D. and Mike D.; daughters, Susan G. and Debra L.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ken Uihlein
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, in Plymouth Presbyterian Church in St. Helens for Ken Uihlein, who died April 18 at age 59. Mr. Uihlein was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Richmond Hill, N.Y. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960s and was regional service manager for Postalia, a postage meter company. He moved to Portland in the late 1960s and owned Office Products, Inc. He later was a service technician for several typewriter and copier companies until moving to the San Francisco area, where he continued working as a copier technician until poor health forced his retirement. In 1969, he married
Sonja Robinson.
Survivors include his wife; mother, Marie; brother Ronald; and grandmother, Rose Wilk.

William J. Uppendahl
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gervais for William J. Uppendahl, who died April 21 at age 86. A recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn. Mr. Uppendahl was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Aurora. He was head custodian at Gervais Union High School for 20 years and then was a maintenance mechanic for Truitt Bros. of Salem until retiring in 1968. He also farmed in the Gervais area. He was a member of the church for more than 50 years. He was a past member of the Gervais City Council. In 1937, he married
Constance "Connie" Manning.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Gary and Kenneth; daughter, Carolyn Hecht; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
