Ruth Doris Beaver
A cryptside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Riverview Abbey Mausoleum for Ruth Doris Beaver, who died April 26 at age 81. Mrs. Beaver was born Ruth Doris Johnson on April 13, 1920, in Portland. She graduated from Jefferson High School. She was a secretary for Portland Gas Co. for about 20 years, for Freightliner Corp. for 23 years and for the Private Industry Council for a few years, retiring in 1995. In 1959, she married
Jim Howard; they divorced. In 1981, she married
Floyd C. Beaver; he died in 1995.
Survivors include her nephew, Daniel Cole; nieces, Brenda Cole, Debbie Swank and Pam Alexander; stepsons, Keith Howard and Eddy Howard; stepdaughter, Sharon Howard; and brother, Ronald Slyter.

Phyllis M. Bohanon
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in New Hope Community Church in Portland for Phyllis M. Bohanon, who died April 26 at age 73. Mrs. Bohanon was born Phyllis M. Walker on March 31, 1928, in Richland Center, Wis. She moved to Portland in the 1930s and graduated from West Linn High School in 1946. She was an X-ray technician in Portland. She married
Harold Bohanon.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Karen Star, Leigh Horner and Anne Stride; sons, Greg and Garry Corkum; and three grandchildren.

Wilbur 'Gene' Brown
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, in the Fountains Ballroom for Wilber "Gene" Brown, who died April 27 at age 63. Mr. Brown was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Seaside. He lived in Portland for the last 44 years and was co-owner of a moving and storage company. He served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1970 he married
Marilyn Mason.

Jamie Nell Dean
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Bateman-Carroll Funeral Chapel for Jamie Nell Dean, who died April 26 at age 66. Mrs. Dean was born Jamie Nell Burnett on July 2, 1934, in Dalby Springs, Texas. She moved to Troutdale in 1947 and worked for more than 30 years as a grocery checker. For 21 years she was the lead checker at Albertson's at Southeast 39th Avenue and Belmont Street. She retired in 1985. In 1972, she married
Albert Lin Dean.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Laura Johnston; sons, Patrick Dean, Gary Green and Terry Green; brother, Gilbert McLeroy; sister, Adelene Foster; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ella Elizabeth Eggebraaten
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2001, in Memorial Gardens Funeral Home for Ella Elizabeth Eggebraaten, who died April 29 at age 91. Mrs. Eggebraaten was born Ella Olesen on Sept. 12, 1909, in New Haven, Conn. A homemaker, she moved to Tacoma in 1954 and to Portland in 1994. In 1931, she married
the Rev. Vernon O. Eggebraaten; he died in February.
Survivors include her daughter, Roberta Bulger; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Her son, Vernon LeRoy Eggebraaten, died in 1992.
Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens cemetery. Remembrances to the building fund of Gateway Baptist Church.
Alice Claire Fennimore
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Vancouver Funeral Chapel for Alice Claire Fennimore who died April 27 at age 80. Mrs. Fennimore was born Alice Claire Jenkyn on Oct. 8, 1920, in Yacolt, Wash. She was raised in Fairview and was a homemaker. In 1941, she married
Earle Fennimore; he died in 1989.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Schommer and Sandra Lauser; son, Jerome; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arthur Clyde 'Gerald' Gibbs
Arthur Clyde "Gerald" Gibbs died April 21, 2001, at age 81. Mr. Gibbs was born July 21, 1919, in St. Louis. He moved in 1977 to Portland. He was an oil field worker with Oil Extractors Texas. He married
Frances Mary Gibbs in 1969.

Richard Pardee Guthrie
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Skyline Chapel, for Richard Pardee Guthrie who died April 27 at age 74. Mr. Guthrie was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Painesville, Ohio. From 1944 to 1946 he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was a loan processor for Century Federal Savings and Loan until retiring in 1986. He moved to Portland in 1995. In 1953, he married
Patricia Swain.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Lynn Sundquist, Dawn Peront and Laura Ellison; son, Mark; sisters, Jeanne Barber and Lois Goodmanson; and five grandchildren.

Jane Hannam
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for Jane Hannam, who died April 29 at age 83. Mrs. Hannam was born Jane Hallam on Nov. 4, 1917, in Portland. She graduated from Grant High School. She was a secretary for CIS Insurance for more than 20 years, retiring in about 1980. Arthur Hannam.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Christina Hannam, Marilyn Fossum, Linda Padilla and Barbara Schleifer; sister, Marian Hallam; and four grandchildren.
Sophie Hely
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Shaarie Torah Memorial cemetery Chapel for Sophie Hely, who died April 29 at age 93. Mrs. Hely was born Sophie Barer on May 4, 1907, in Russia, and in 1920 immigrated to the United States and settled in Walla Walla. During World War II she was recognized for distinguished service to the men and women in the U.S. armed forces. She was a homemaker. In 1924 she married
I. Harry Kaplon; he died in 1955. In 1970 she married
Alfred Hely; he died in 1988.
Survivors include her daughter Thelma F. Cohen; son, Norman L. Kaplon; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Walter Brian Idler
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes for Walter Brian Idler, who died April 28 at age 65. Mr. Idler was born July 9, 1935, in Grandview, Wash. He graduated from Vancouver High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He moved to Portland in 1955 and was a machinist at Cascade Corporation. He was a partner in Industrial Chrome Plating and became sole owner in 1991; he retired last year. He married
Sylvia Gilly in 1955; they divorced. In 1989, he married
Phyllis Robinson.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Michael and Matthew; daughters, Michelle Hughes, Margaret McEllrath and Mary Kelly; stepson, Jim Hefty; stepdaughters, Deborah Christian, Tambra Hobbs, Minta Layman, and Rebecca Wiley; brother, Russ; sisters, Jeannie Edwards, Patricia Edwards and Donna Edwards; 22 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery. Remembrances to Oregon Donor Program.
Kenneth Martin Johnson
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, in Vancouver Funeral Chapel for Kenneth Martin Johnson, who died April 28 of congestive heart failure at age 39. Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 21, 1962, in Vancouver, Wash. He moved to Portland in about 1991. He worked for a yard maintenance company for a few years and then was a manager at the Helen M. Swindells building for about the past five years.
Survivors include his sons, Derek and Adam; mother and stepfather, Beverly and Robert Franklin; brothers, Rick and Mike; sister, Cheryl Lyons; and grandmother, Leatha Ryan.
Interment in Park Hill cemetery in Vancouver, Wash. Remembrances to the American Heart Association.
Alice H. Kolander
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, in St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Beaverton for Alice H. Kolander, who died April 29 at age 87. Mrs. Kolander was born Alice Wiland on Sept. 8, 1913, in Portland. She was a garment cutter at Kandel Knitting Mills in Portland for about 20 years, retiring in 1980. In 1933, she married
Bernard Kolander; he died in 1966.
Survivors include her son, David; daughter, Carolyn; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
