Leo Guthman
Leo Guthman died May 22, 2001, at age 84. Mr. Guthman was born May 26, 1916, in Youngstown, Ohio, and moved in 1945 to Portland. He served in the Army during World War II. He retired in 1981. In 1945, he married
Sally Jayne Keyser; she died in 1973.
Survivors include his sons, Gary and Eric, and three grandchildren.

Willie C. Harper Sr.
A visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Skyline Memorial Funeral Home for Willie C. Harper Sr., who died May 26 at age 73. Mr. Harper was born March 20, 1928, in Arlington, Ga. He served as a mechanic in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force for more than 26 years, including service in the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force in 1972 and moved to Portland. In 1952, he married
Sallie Lee Woods.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Patricia A. Harper and Carolyn J. Harper-Boschert; son, Willie C. Jr.; and two grandchildren.

Helen G. Harrington
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001, in Mt. Scott Funeral Home for Helen G. Harrington, who died May 29 at age 77. Mrs. Harrington was born Helen G. Flink on Oct. 1, 1923, in Missoula, Mont. She moved to Portland as a child and graduated from Jefferson High School. She was a secretary for several companies, including OECO and Dickenson Co., and later managed a paint store in Portland. She then co-owned and operated a marina and boat maintenance facility in San Pedro, Calif. She moved to Blaine, Wash., where she co-owned and managed a mobile home park. She later moved to Vancouver, Wash., where she was a foster grandparent at Peter S. Ogden Elementary School.
Survivors include her sons, Ron Miller and Rodney Miller; brother, Walter Flink; companion, Bill Viney; and four grandchildren.

Helen Marckx Hood
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2001, in St. Rita Catholic Church in Portland for Helen Marckx Hood, who died May 29 at age 88. Mrs. Hood was born Helen Dennis on June 18, 1912, in Seattle. She moved to Gresham in 1939, where she operated a bakery with her husband, retiring in 1975. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for more than 30 years. In 1933, she married
Edward I. Marckx; he died in 1973. In 1974, she married
Franklin D. Hood; he died in 1987.
Survivors include her sons, John E. Marckx, Edward T. Marckx, Eugene D. Marckx and Paul D. Marckx; daughters, Helen Marie Marckx and Mary E. Marckx Creel; brother, Harry Dennis Jr.; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Henry J. Hughes
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens for Henry J. Hughes, who died May 25 at age 83. Mr. Hughes was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Beach, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. He moved to Springfield after the war and later lived in Hillsboro and Scappoose. He was a long-haul truck driver until retiring in 1973. He was a member of Teamsters Local 162. In 1946, he married
Velvetta Cranford.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Robert and Norman; daughter, Katherine Pearson; brother, Charles; sisters, Marge Mathews, Helen Jansen, Gladys Beaver and Jean Schawial; and five grandchildren.

Arthur William Knapp
Arthur William Knapp died May 27, 2001, at age 84. Mr. Knapp was born May 8, 1917, in New York City. He served in the Marines during World War II and in the Air Force during the Berlin Air Lift. He worked as an automotive sales and parts manager for Chevrolet dealerships, retiring in 1991. For the past 20 years, he also worked as a gemologist. He moved to Aloha from Hawaii in 1999. In 1969, he married
Diana Horn.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Regina You; son, William; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Aria Guurtje Kuipers
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001 in Club Estates East Clubhouse for Aria Guurtje Kuipers, who died May 12, 2001, at age 74. Ms. Kuipers was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Holland. She came to the United States 42 years ago. She was a retired office worker who was employed by Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center and the David Douglas School District.
Survivors include her brothers, Harry and Kees; and sister, Jan Braggen.

Mato Kustreba
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2001, in Mary Star of the Sea Church in San Pedro, Calif., for Mato Kustreba, who died May 27 at age 76. Mr. Kustreba was born March 21, 1925, in Croatia. He was a die tool operator before retiring and lived in Tualatin since 1978. In 1945, he married
Jelena Alexandrova.
Survivors include his wife; and niece, Barbara Burin.

Rosse M. Larson
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Central Bible Church for Rosse M. Larson, who died May 18 at age 92. Mrs. Larson was born Rosse Mather on Oct. 24, 1908, in Duluth, Minn. She moved to Portland as a child and graduated from Franklin High School. She was a homemaker. She married
Harry R. Larson in 1935; he died in March.
Survivors include her son, Jim; and two grandchildren.

JoAnn Elaine May
JoAnn Elaine May died May 25, 2001, at age 65. Ms. May was born JoAnn Klang on Feb. 14, 1936, in Jefferson and graduated from Gresham High School. She lived in the Portland area since 1970. She was a legal secretary in the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for 18 years until 1990 and then a customer service agent for the Internal Revenue Service until retiring in February.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela McGregor; sons, Jeffrey and Daniel; sister, Judy Graydon; and brother, Bill Klang.

Grace Mitchell
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2001, in Crescent Grove cemetery in Tigard for Grace Mitchell, who died May 28 at age 93. Mrs. Mitchell was born Grace Simonton on Aug. 17, 1907, in Deer Park, Wash. She moved to Timber in 1917 and to Tigard in 1948. She was a homemaker and also a retail sales clerk for several years.
Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Morehead, Faye Turner and Judy Burman; son, David; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Eunice Isbelle Moran
Eunice Isbelle Moran died May 27, 2001, at age 87. Mrs. Moran was born Eunice Bucholtz on March 19, 1914, in Grass Valley. She moved to the Portland area in 1940. She taught pottery classes in her home studio for more than 35 years and for Portland Community College for two years. In 1946, she married
Dean Moran.
Survivors include her husband.

Elizabeth J. Morrison
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Sherwood for Elizabeth J. Morrison, who died May 24 at age 80. Mrs. Morrison was born Elizabeth J. Wood on July 3, 1920, in Nampa, Idaho. She was a real estate broker who lived in several locations in California before moving to Joseph in the late 1960s. She also lived in Bend, King City and Hermiston. In the late 1930s, she married
Robert N. Bagley; they divorced. In 1974, she married
Lew Morrison; they divorced.
Survivors include her sons, Robert K. Bagley, Henry Rice and William R. Bagley; daughters, Beverly A. Traina and Betty J. Herndon; brothers, Clark Howard and Jack Howard; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
