Charles John Nordgren
A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Charles John Nordgren, who died June 15 at age 92. Mr. Nordgren was born Dec. 19, 1908, in Aurora County, Neb. He moved to Portland in about 1941. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. Afterward, he returned to Portland, and was a welder and later a car inspector for Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1975. He lived in Canby before moving to Beavercreek in 2000. In 1936, he married
Hazel Smith.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Clyde and William; sister, Lillian Yoder; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. His daughter Janice L. died in 1942.

Donald R. O'Dell
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove for Donald R. "Don" O'Dell, who died June 15 at age 68. Mr. O'Dell was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Big Timber, Mont. A graduate of Carroll College in Helena, Mont., he moved to Hillsboro in 1965. He earned a master's degree from Portland State University and a doctorate from Beverly Hills University and was director of special education for the elementary school district in Hillsboro, retiring in 1981. In 1973, he married
Jean Thompson.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Shawn Evans; stepdaughter, Janet Paay; stepsons, John Thompson, Bruce Thompson and Robert Thompson; brothers, Kenneth and Richard; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Carlen Anne Pearson
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in Lake Grove Christian Church in Lake Oswego for Carlen Anne Pearson, who died June 15 at age 59. Mrs. Pearson was born Carlen Anne Ross on Oct. 28, 1941, in Miami, Ariz., and raised in Los Angeles. She moved to Lake Oswego in 1977 and was a medical transcriptionist for Providence St. Vincent Medical Center for 23 years. In 1960, she married
William R. Pearson.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Teresa Boliek, Christina Byrne and Patricia Dawson; sister, Betty-Jo Morton; and six grandchildren.

Donald Lee Pedersen
Donald Lee Pedersen died June 12, 2001, at age 45. Mr. Pedersen was born Feb. 2, 1956, in Portland and lived in the area most of his life. He was a boat mechanic at Greg's Marine in Garibaldi and then for Steven's Marine in Tigard.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Loretta J. and George V. Haliski; father and stepmother, Sigfred L. and Pam Pedersen; brother, Ronald D.; sister, Debra J. Kidd; half brother, George V. Haliski Jr.; grandmother, Dorris Flett; and grandfather, Fred Sellers.

Albert Walter Philpott
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home for Albert Walter "Walt" Philpott, who died June 17 at age 79. Mr. Philpott was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Portland. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. Afterward, he moved to Hillsboro and was a logger for several companies and later a truck driver for ONC Freight Lines, retiring in 1984. In 1944, he married
Betty Will; they later divorced. In the mid-1970s, he married
Dorothy Hughes; she died in the early 1990s.
Survivors include his daughters, Sharon James, Kathy Sunseri and Sandra Matthews; stepsons, Tom Hughes and John Hughes; brother, Robert; companion, Maxine Blackburn; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery.
Debra Ann Poitras
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2001, in Central Lutheran Church in Portland for Debra Ann Poitras, who died June 13 of diabetes at age 40. Mrs. Poitras was born Debra Ann Killian on Feb. 8, 1961, in Portland. She graduated from Parkrose High School in 1979 and received an associate's degree from Mt. Hood Community College. A homemaker, she moved in 1988 to Aberdeen, S.D., then lived in Minneapolis for nine years before returning to Aberdeen in 1999. In 1981, she married
Michael Poitras.
Survivors include her husband; son, Weston E.; mother, Barbara Poitras; brother, Dan Killian; stepbrothers, Charles Poitras Jr., David Poitras, Mark Poitras, Kerry Poitras and Jason Calkins; and stepsisters, Judy Calkins, Mary Alexander and Ronna Calkins.

A memorial service will be at noon Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Calvary Mennonite Church in Aurora for Genevieve Bernice Schumacher, who died June 16 at age 79.
Mrs. Schumacher was born Genevieve Bernice Benson on Nov. 8, 1921, in Parshall, N.D., and moved to Molalla as a teen-ager. A graduate of Molalla High School, she was a bookkeeper for Molalla Medical Clinic for 18 years, retiring in the late 1970s. She was a 60-year member of the church. In 1941, she married
Wayne Schumacher; he died in 1982.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald, Warren and Kevin; daughter, Diane Lowman; brothers, Leslie Benson and Alvin Benson; sister, Florence Miller; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Roxanna Marie Stewart
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Zion Lutheran Church in Oregon City for Roxanna Marie Stewart, who died June 17 at age 48. Mrs. Stewart was born Roxanna Marie Robins on March 12, 1953, in Oregon City. She graduated from West Linn High School and Concordia College. She was human resources manager for Dobbs International for the past year. In 1974, she married
Randall Stewart.

Leonard Allen Storms
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in American Legion Post 150 in Portland for Leonard Allen Storms, who died June 15 at age 72. Mr. Storms was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Portland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a meat cutter for 50 years, retiring from Deringer's Thriftway in 1992. Carolyn Lee Winward
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Central Church of the Nazarene in Portland for Carolyn Lee Winward, who died June 13 at age 39. Mrs. Winward was born Carolyn Moore on July 6, 1961, in Portland. She graduated from Milwaukie High School. She was a clerk for Precision Castparts for 10 years and then a homemaker. Michael Scott Winward.

Robert Kenneth Andersen
A memorial Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in St. Agatha Catholic Church in Portland for Robert Kenneth Andersen, who died June 14 at age 56. Mr. Anderson was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Portland, where he lived until 1994, moving to Ocean Park, Wash. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a corrections officer with Multnomah County, retiring in 1988 because of a disability. In 1995, he married
Iris Johnson. He was previously married
and divorced.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Chris Andersen, Mark Manker and Vince Stevens; daughters, Maret M. May and Michelle Edwards; brothers, Stan, Richard, Ed and Tom; and 11 grandchildren.

Robert Kemplin Jones
Robert Kemplin Jones died June 8, 2001, at age 61.
Mr. Jones was born April 25, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, and moved to Portland in 1945. He graduated from Benson High School and then served in the U.S. Navy. He was a route manager for vending companies in Medford and Newport and later a land surveyor in Nevada, most recently for Hunewell Construction in Winnemucca for the past 10 years.
Survivors include his son, Calvin B.; daughters, Suzanne Rickett and Monique Penrose; father, Calvin L.; stepsister, Karel Helwig; and seven grandchildren.
