Betty Mae Thompson
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Lincoln City for Betty Mae Thompson, who died Jan. 25 at age 81. Mrs. Thompson was born March 19, 1919, in Cottage Grove and lived in Scholls before moving to Portland as a young woman. Her maiden name was Bisbey. She served in the Women's Army Corps and worked for the U.S. Treasury Department, Western Wood Products and Oregon Health Sciences University before retiring in the 1980s. She was a Jehovah's Witness. She moved to Depoe Bay about 12 years ago. In 1947, she married
Kenneth Thompson.
Survivors include her husband; son, Douglas; daughter, Karen S. Getty; sisters, Joyce Wirfs and Marilyn Daley; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements are by Pacific View Memorial Chapel.
Roberta Lee Turrentine
Roberta Lee Turrentine died Jan. 17, 2001, at age 79. No service will be held. Mrs. Turrentine was born Dec. 9, 1921, in Vincennes, Ind. Her maiden name was McIntosh. She lived in Indiana, Kentucky and South San Francisco, Calif., before moving in 1974 to Gladstone and was a homemaker. In 1938, she married
Clifford Turrentine; he died in 1973.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara McIntosh and Cheri Prince; sons, Jerry and Paul; brother, Lawrence McIntosh; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. Arrangements were by Oregon Cremation Co.
Irene Elizabeth Waddell
Irene Elizabeth Waddell died Jan. 22, 2001, of cancer at age 83. A private service was held. Mrs. Waddell was born March 7, 1917, in Waverly, Neb. Her maiden name was Schrack. She was a self-employed caregiver and a Protestant. She married
Robert Waddell in 1970.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Judy Dinsmore; son, Warren Woodworth; sister, Miriam Eaton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Young's Funeral Home.
George Wilbur Weir
George Wilbur Weir died Jan. 28, 2001, of cancer at age 84. A private service will be held. Mr. Weir was born June 16, 1916, in Leedey, Okla. He was a logger and then a potsman for Reynolds Aluminum, retiring in 1978. In 1936, he married
Waiva Comfort; she died in 1996.
Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Kuchinka; and companion, Leona McNett.
Disposition is by cremation. Remembrances are suggested to Adventist Hospice. Arrangements are by Family Memorial Mortuary.
Eula Rea West
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Montavilla Baptist Church for Eula Rea West, who died Jan. 23 at age 83. Mrs. West was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Bethany, Mo. Her maiden name was Rinehart. She moved to Portland in 1942 and was a homemaker and a member of the church. In 1940, she married
Donald E. West.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Donna L. McFadden; son, Brian E.; sisters, Helen Anthony and Elizabeth Burton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Interment is in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the building fund of the church. Arrangements are by Zeller Chapel of the Roses.
Leila Viola West
Leila Viola West died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, in Portland at age 96. Services were held. Mrs. West was born Nov. 28, 1904, in Dayton, Wash. Her maiden name was Sage. She had lived in the Portland area for 25 years and was a homemaker. She married
Harry West; he preceded her in death.
She is survived by a nephew, Richard E. Dolan.
The family suggests remembrances to a favorite charity. Arrangements are by Peake Memorial Chapel.
Ruth Lois Whitaker
Ruth Lois Whitaker died Jan. 22, 2001, at age 87. No service was held. Mrs. Whitaker was born March 24, 1913 in Time, Ill. Her maiden name was McFaddin. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Point. She moved in 1998 to Portland after living in Myrtle Point for 59 years. She married
Ralph E. Whitaker in 1959; he died in 1994.
Survivors include her son, Tom; daughter, Janet; stepdaughter Pat Pivic; stepson Lee; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Oregon Trail Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association in Portland. Arrangements are by Zeller Chapel of the Roses.
Harold Harter White
Harold Harter White died Jan. 25, 2001, at age 86. No service will be held. Mr. White was born March 8, 1914, in Stronghurst, Ill., and was raised in Colorado. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in Europe. He lived in Salem after the war and moved about 1962 to Garibaldi, where he was a city recorder and municipal judge, retiring in 1988. He lived in Milwaukie the past 12 years. In 1980, he married
Jeanne Lucks.
Survivors include his wife; son, Neel; stepdaughters, Sharon Rice and Donna Yoss; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Arrangements are by Wilhelm Funeral Home.
Katherine Wills
Katherine Wills died Jan. 11, 2001, at age 87. No service will be held. Mrs. Wills was born June 15, 1913, in Portland, where she lived all her life. Her maiden name was Rauch. She attended Grant High School. She worked for the photo department of the Oak Grove Fred Meyer. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She married
Ray Wills; he died in 1974.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Kay Gonge; sister, Rose Jerman; and grandchildren.
Disposition was by cremation. Arrangements are by Mt. Scott Funeral Home.
George A. Wisti
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in the Coos Bay American Legion Hall for George A. Wisti, who died Jan. 29 at age 89. Mr. Wisti was born Aug. 23, 1911, in Beaver Hill, near Coos Bay. He was a self-employed logger, retiring in 1974. He moved to Woodburn from North Bend in 1988. In 1945, he married
Erros Craig; she died in 1994.
Survivors include his sons, John, Robert and Craig; and four grandchildren.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Coos Bay. The family suggests remembrances to Oregon State Elks Charity in care of Coos Bay Elks, 1245 Fulton Ave., Coos Bay, OR 97420. Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Wesley E. Woods
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Mt. Scott Funeral Home for Wesley E. Woods, who died Jan. 29 at age 78. Mr. Woods was born May 6, 1922, in McPherson, Kan. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He then lived in Portland, where he established Arrow Striping in 1956. He was retired but helped his sons operate the business. In 1977, he married
Burnetta Graham.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Randi Floyd; sons, Michael, Dennis and Dan; stepson, Alvin Prather; brother, Bob; sister, Dorothy Schoonover; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements are by Mt. Scott Funeral Home.
Hazel Z. Blackburn
Hazel Z. Blackburn died May 25, 2001, at age 89. Mrs. Blackburn was born Hazel Z. Olmsted on February 25, 1912, in Corozal, Panama, and immigrated to Clackamas as a child. She was a homemaker. She lived in Tigard since 1988. In 1952, she married
Charles Blackburn; he died in 1970.
Survivors include her son, Glenn Eatch; and two grandchildren.

Sally Elaine Hughes
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2001, in Portland Memorial Funeral Home for Sally Elaine Hughes, who died June 1 at age 50. Mrs. Hughes was born Sally Elaine Punch on June 13, 1950, in St. Louis. A homemaker, she moved in 1985 to Portland.
Survivors include her sons, Jason and Michael; parents, Lura and Mike Punch; and sisters, Suzanne Cremer, Leslie Crayne-Stark, Betsy Punch and Margaret Woods.
Interment in Multnomah Park cemetery.
