Ronald L. Conger
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in St. Catherine's Episcopal Church in Manzanita for Ronald L. Conger, who died Jan. 22 of a stroke at age 70. Mr. Conger was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Portland. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1949, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lithographer for several companies, including Metropolitan Printing, retiring in 1991. After his retirement, he moved to Nehalem and was a member of the church and sang in the Cannon Beach Chorus. In 1951, he married
Bonnie Smead.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Teresa; sons, Mark and John; and six grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the building fund of his church. Arrangements are by Waud's Funeral Home in Tillamook.
LaVelle Cooper
LaVelle Cooper died Jan. 20, 2001, at age 90. A private service will be held. Mrs. Cooper was born Jan. 2, 1911, in Yokum, in Lake County. Her maiden name was Lane. She was a supervisor for Diamond Fruit in Hood River for 35 years, retiring about 1979. She was a member of Valley Christian Church in Hood River. She moved to Portland in 1991 and was a member of Valley Christian Church in Wilsonville. In 1933, she married
Bud Cooper; he died in 1986.
Survivors include her son, John; and one grandchild.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Oregon Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. Arrangements are by Omega Funeral & Cremation Service.
A memorial Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego for Ruby "Mary" Strovink Crowley, who died Jan. 27 at age 91.
Mrs. Crowley was born Jan. 24, 1910, in Danbury, N.H. Her maiden name was Barker. She was a medical-records librarian for Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, Mass., and then a corporate librarian for Gillette in Boston for 15 years before retiring in the early 1970s. She moved in 1987 to Lake Oswego and was a member of the church. In 1932, she married
Florian A. Strovink; he died in 1972. She was separated from her second husband, Edward Crowley.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Strovink-Daukas; sons, Robert W. Strovink, Kurt A. Strovink and James E. Strovink; half-brother, Chester A. Barker; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Private interment will be in Maplewood cemetery in Plaistow, N.H. Arrangements are by Young's Funeral Home.
Glenn Edward Dever
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes for Glenn Edward Dever, who died Jan. 27 at age 86. Mr. Dever was born Feb. 6, 1914, in Geneva, Neb. In 1945, he moved from Denver to Portland to work in the shipyards. Later, he was a insulation applicator, retiring in 1979. In 1938, he married
DeLora B. Black.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Glenda D. Elwood; brother, Leland; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His son Donald G. died in 1994.
Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society.
William B. Dixon
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in St. Agatha Catholic Church for William B. Dixon, who died Jan. 25 at age 80. Mr. Dixon was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Portland. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy's Armed Guard on merchant ships. He worked for Pacific Power & Light until retiring as an assistant engineer in the early 1980s. He moved to Laguna Hills, Calif., five months ago. In 1943, he married
Shirley Baker.
Survivors include his wife; son, Dennis; daughter, Catherine Craig; sister, Kathleen Dixon; and four grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilhelm Funeral Home.
Oscar Dunis
Oscar Dunis died Jan. 25, 2001, at age 87. A private service was held. Mr. Dunis was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Portland. He attended Washington High School and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He was a parts manager for Dunis Distributing, his brother's vending machine company, for 40 years, retiring about 1985. He was a member of the Congregation Neveh Shalom. In 1947, he married
Anna Ruth Goldhammer; she died in 1990.
Survivors include his daughter, Harriet R. Perkel; sister, Pauline Wieder; and one grandchild.
Interment is in Ahavai Sholom cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Holman's Funeral Service.
David R. Enochson
David R. Enochson died Jan. 5, 2001, of cancer at age 34. No service will be held. Mr. Enochson was born March 11, 1966, in Spokane and was raised in Vancouver, Wash. He graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1985 and served in the U.S. Navy. From 1994 to 1997, he lived in Gresham and was a clerk for the Gresham Fred Meyer for three years until moving to Tucson, Ariz. He graduated from ITT Technical Institute in 1999. In 1998, he married
Kelly Russell.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Shataunna; stepdaughter, Jennifer Russell; mother, Carol; and sisters, Diane Enochson and Debra Hesketh.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Casa de la Luz Hospice, 6812 N. Oracle Road, Suite 144, Tucson, AZ 85704.Norma Jean Finkelstein~ A graveside service was held for Norma Jean Finkelstein who died Jan. 11, 2001, of diabetes at age 60.
Ms. Finkelstein was born Nov. 21, 1940, in Portland. Her maiden name was Graham. A graduate of David Douglas High School, she attended Portland State University and earned a bachelor's degree from St. Louis University. She later received a master's degree in social work from Washington University in St. Louis. She worked as a diabetes educator.
Survivors include her daughters, Andrea Rosen and Deborah Grimm; sisters, Dolores Potts and Donna McKay; and brother, Jim Graham.
Interment is in Chesed Shei Emeth cemetery in St. Louis. The family suggests remembrances to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Berger Memorial Chapel in St. Louis.
Randy Alan Finley
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in Bateman-Carroll Funeral Chapel in Gresham for Randy Alan Finley, who died Jan. 27 in a truck accident at age 22. Mr. Finley was born March 30, 1978, in Portland and graduated from Reynolds High School in Troutdale. He was a truck driver for Wick's Air Freight, then for the past several months drove for Blue Line Transportation. He lived in Ridgefield, Wash., since 1998.
Survivors include his mother, Cindy; father, Stephen; sister, Jessica; and grandparents, Bud and Mary Finley, and Roger Cordes.
Private interment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to a memorial fund in his name in care of Blue Line Transportation. The fund will be used for the education of his nephew, Conrad Ambrose.
Gordon P. 'Don' Foster
A memorial Mass will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vernonia for Gordon P. "Don" Foster, who died Jan. 28 of a heart attack at age 52. Mr. Foster was born July 21, 1948, in Redlands, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army. He attended college in Honolulu. He moved to Vernonia from Honolulu in about 1990, where he owned Rising River Ranch Retirement Residence out of his home for the past eight years. He was a member of the church. In 2000, he married
Donna F. Zimmerman.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Nicole K.; son, Michael; stepdaughters, Kelly Barlow and Leah Zimmerman; stepsons, Luke Zimmerman and Matthew Zimmerman; brothers, Dennis, Robert, Rick, Joel and Jerry; and three grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are by Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home.
Lloyd R. Hamann
Lloyd R. Hamann died Jan. 20, 2001, at age 80. A private service was held. Mr. Hamann was born July 29, 1920, in Olympia. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Beaverton from Arleta, Calif., in 1976, and owned Lloyd's Tire Service for several years and then was a tire salesman for General Tire until retiring in 1982. In 1946, he married
Helen Rand Kalinowski.
Survivors include his wife; son, William; stepdaughter, Patricia McCorkle; stepson, Edward Kalinowski; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ronald Frank Hansen
Ronald Frank Hansen died Jan. 20, 2001, of emphysema at age 72. A private service was held. Mr. Hansen was born May 16, 1928, in Salt Lake City. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Idaho State University School of Pharmacy in 1952, and moved to Bend. A pharmacist for 50 years, he owned pharmacies in Eugene and Sheridan before moving to Portland in 1983, where he was a pharmacist for Paulsen's Pharmacy in the Hollywood district of Portland for 15 years, retiring in 1991. In 1950, he married
LoRay Dal Torrione; she died in 1990.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Hansen, Teresa Swearngin and Laura Krumdieck; son, Karl; mother, Mabel Brock; brother, Howard; and three grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Northwest Medical Teams. Arrangements are by Lincoln Willamette Funeral Directors.
Richard E. Holter
A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Richard E. Holter, who died Jan. 27 at age 75. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Valley Hope Community Church in Hillsboro. Mr. Holter was born April 17, 1925, in Yakima. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then moved to Portland. He was a concrete finisher until the mid-1970s, and he and his wife owned Carol's Sewing Room for the past 25 years. He had lived in Forest Grove since the late 1980s and was a member of the church in Hillsboro. In 1973, he married
Carol Church McAfee.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ernest, Jack and Nick; daughters, Diana Miller and Pamela; stepson, Daniel McAfee; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. His stepson David McAfee died in 1989.
