Willa Mae Chambers-Grissom
A funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, in North Baptist Church in Portland for Willa Mae Chambers-Grissom, who died March 29 at age 83. Mrs. Chambers-Grissom was born Dec. 19, 1917, in Edgefield, S.C. Her maiden name was Holloway. She moved to Portland in the 1950s and was a nurse's aide for several nursing homes, retiring in about 1975. In 1940, she married
Arthur Chambers; he died in 1952. In 1955, she married
Clifford Grissom Jr.; he died in 1962.
Survivors include her sons, James A. Chambers Jr., Donald D. Chambers, Wesley W. Chambers and Richard Chambers; daughters, Anna L. Chambers, Artie M. Christmas and Deborah Kabia; brothers, Robert Holloway and Oscar Holloway; sisters, RosaBelle Holloway, Peggy Crawford, Jenny Black, Nellie Bradwell and Kathy Kendricks; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Vivian Cook
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Mt. Scott Funeral Home for Vivian Cook, who died March 31 at age 96. Mrs. Cook was born April 29, 1904, in Haileyville,Okla. Her maiden name was Smith. She moved to Portland in about 1930 and was a homemaker. In 1923, she married
Silvester Cook; he died in 1969.
Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie Johnston; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her son, Dale R., died in 1995.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery.
Jefferson Davis Dawson
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes for Jefferson Davis Dawson, who died March 26 at age 70. Mr. Dawson was born Oct. 27, 1930, in Texarkana, Texas, and was raised in Portland. He served in the U.S. Navy and then in the U.S. Army. He was a repairman in the Portland shipyards and a wiper for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Survivors include his mother, Virger; sister, Leona Gatson; and brother, Jessie.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery.
Walter O. Edwards
A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Park for Walter O. "Walt" Edwards, who died March 30 at age 86. Mr. Edwards was born Feb. 26, 1915, in Liberal, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in Portland and Eugene before settling in Portland in 1950, and he was a groundskeeper for the Portland Parks Bureau, retiring in 1975.
Survivors include his niece, Sandra Perkins; great-niece, Renee Wilson; and great-nephew, Dale Perkins.

Bert Garre
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in St. Rita Catholic Church in Portland for Bert Garre, who died March 29 at age 82. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 2, also in the church. Mr. Garre was born June 6, 1918, in Portland, where he lived all his life. He was a truck farmer until retiring in 1983, and was a life-time member of the church. In 1943, he married
Rose Spada.
Survivors include his wife; son, Albert; daughters, Rosann Pitton and Christine Kugel; and five grandchildren.

Amanda Goldade
Amanda Goldade died March 28, 2001, at age 87. A funeral Mass was held. Mrs. Goldade was born May 17, 1913, in Spring Hill, Minn., and moved to Woodburn in 1920. Her maiden name was Gilles. She was a homemaker and was a seamstress for Oregon Bag Co. in Aurora for eight years in the 1970s. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Woodburn. In 1938, she married
Eugene Goldade; he died in 1988.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Payne; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A gathering will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in her home for Margaret Elizabeth "Betty" Gough, who died March 28 at age 87.
Mrs. Gough was born Dec. 15, 1913, in Hayneville,Ala. Her maiden name was Varner. A homemaker, she moved to Portland in 1948 and to Tigard in 1985. She was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital. In 1944, she married
George H. Gough; he died in 1984.
Survivors include her son, William N.; daughter, Nina K.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bessie Marie Jones
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Riverview Abbey Funeral Home for Bessie Marie Jones, who died March 30 at age 89. Mrs. Jones was born April 13, 1911, in Portland, where she lived all of her life before moving to Vancouver, Wash., in February. Her maiden name was Handewith. She graduated from Jefferson High School and was a homemaker and a 40-year member of the Fourth Church of Christ Scientist. In 1939, she married
Kenneth V. Jones; he died in 1982.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas V. and Ronald W.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Interment in Riverview Abbey Mausoleum. Remembrances to a memorial fund in her name at Pacific Specialty and Rehabilitation Center in Vancouver.
Wayne Willis Jordan
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home for Wayne Willis Jordan, who died March 30 at age 86. Mr. Jordan was born Aug. 6, 1914, in Payette, Idaho, and was raised in Portland. He was a carpenter for several companies, retiring in 1977. In 1936, he married
Geneva Allen; she died in 1994.
Survivors include his sons, George and William; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Loranza Lawhorn
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, in Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Vancouver, Wash., for LoranzaLawhorn, who died March 30 at age 85. Mr. Lawhorn was born April 21, 1915, in Portageville, Mo. He moved to Vancouver in 1969, and was a cotton and wheat farmer in Missouri and a carpenter for William C. Lawhorn Builder, his son's company in Portland, until retiring in 1980. In 1935, he married
Mable Clark.
Survivors include his wife; son, William C.; daughter, Loretta A. Unrein; brother, Herschel; and six grandchildren.

Amy Levinson
A funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, in Weinstein Chapel in Neveh Zedek-Rose City Lodge cemetery for Amy Levinson, who died March 31 at age 69. Mrs. Levinson was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Honolulu. Her maiden name was Perlstein. She graduated from Reed College, received a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Rochester in New York and a law degree from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College. She was an attorney in private practice in Portland, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Congregation Neveh Sholom and a past president of the Jewish Genealogical Society. In 1958, she married
Al Levinson.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Ellen E.; son, Mark R.; and sisters, Naomi Kassabian and Judy Perlstein. Her daughter Rebecca Anne died in 1983.

Robert Paul Lewis
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, in Alliance Bible Church in Hillsboro for Robert Paul Lewis, who died March 28 at age 72. Mr. Lewis was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Corvallis. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he lived in Anchorage, Alaska, and Junction City before moving to Hillsboro in 1962. He was a computer engineer for Oregon Electric and then owned Lewis Electronics, Lewis Controls and then LTS, Inc., for about the past 12 years.In 1950, he married
Phyllis McSpadden.
Survivors include his wife; son, David; daughters, Kathleen Stewart, Stephanie Mulbey, Susan Norbury, Melinda Wert and Kerri McHill; brother, Harold; sister, Sylvia Christensen; and 18 grandchildren.

Maurice Eino 'Stretch' Simila
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001, in New Beginnings Christian Center in Portland for Maurice Eino "Stretch" Simila, who died March 28 at age 74. Mr. Simila was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Brocket,N.D. He moved to Portland in the early 1940s, and served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He was a lineman for 36 years out of Local 125 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, retiring in 1985. In 1950, he married
Arlene Henery.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Douglas M. Simila and Kenneth S. Simila; stepsons, Larry L. Briggs, Rodney Briggs and Ronald Briggs; stepdaughter, Sherie A. Wait; brother, Kenneth; sisters, Sheila Goin and Dalphene Gilbert; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His stepson Ted Briggs died in 1993.
