Loretta R. Walker
Loretta R. Walker died March 31, 2001, at age 87. Mrs. Walker was born Loretta Couch March 8, 1914, in Grand Junction, Colo. She managed the restaurant at the Seasider Hotel in Seaside and retired in 1974. She lived in Tillamook and Seaside before moving in 1997 to Carlton. She married
and divorced twice.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Gregorich, Mike Gregorich, Gilbert Walker, Kenneth Walker and Jim Walker; daughters, Linda Albrecht, Carolyn Angerano and Lora McBride; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

LuEllen Bertschi Ward
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Village Chapel in Gresham for LuEllen Bertschi Ward, who died April 2 at age 82. Mrs. Ward was born LuEllen Bertschi on Dec. 5, 1918, in Laurel, Wash. She taught school in Oregon, Washington and Pennsylvania, and retired in 1979. For the last five years she lived in Portland. In 1936, she married
Frank E. Ward.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Juanita Rolph and Sue Atkins; son, Dr. Darold; sister, Hazel Parsons; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Frank Conrad Warneke Sr.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, in the Jehovah's Witnesses East Gresham Kingdom Hall for Frank Conrad Warneke Sr., who died April 3 at age 90. Mr. Warneke was born June 4, 1910, in Hannover, Germany. He moved to Portland in 1925. He was a boiler fireman for Simpson Timber until retiring in 1971. In 1944, he married
Vernice Hiner.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, June Leialoha and Tina Rae Britton; sons, Fredrick G. and Randolf B. Sr.; brothers, Karl and Theodore; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His son Frank Jr. died in 1977.

Mildred May Webb
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Cascade Park Baptist Church in Vancouver, Wash., for Mildred May Webb, who died March 19 at age 85. Mrs. Webb was born Mildred May Laymon on Dec. 25, 1915, in Memphis, Ind. She moved to Milwaukie in 1954 and worked as a machine operator for Pendleton Woolen Mills for about 15 years until the 1970s. She moved to Vancouver in July. In 1954, she married
Robert D. Webb; he died in 1996.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynda Matus and Barbara Ryan; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Velma Whetstine
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Oregon City Assembly of God Church for Velma Whetstine, who died April 3 at age 77. Mrs. Whetstine was born Velma Shepherd on March 2, 1924, in Perry. She moved to Portland in 1966 and was a homemaker and an assembler for Tektronix for 10 years, retiring in 1986. In 1945, she married
Alvin Whetstine; he died in 1972.
Survivors include her sons, Walter Cunningham, Burton Whetstine and Byron Whetstine; brothers, Douglas Shepherd, Clifford Shepherd, Gaylord Shepherd and Melvin Shepherd; sisters, Janice Spurgeon and Phyllis Knight; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Christy A. Ball
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem for Christy A. Ball, who died April 1 at age 54. Mrs. Ball was born Christy A. Harney on Dec. 24, 1946, in Salem and was raised in Portland. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1964 and was a homemaker. In 1968, she married
Ronald E. Ball.

Mayna Elizabeth Bertelsen
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Greater Portland Baptist Church for Mayna Elizabeth "May" Bertelsen, who died April 3 at age 77. Mrs. Bertelsen was born Mayna Elizabeth Chaney on Nov. 17, 1923, in Las Cruces, N.M., and was raised in Portland. She graduated from Jefferson High School and was a stenographer for the Oregon Highway Division for about eight years until the 1970s. In about 1941, she married
Charles Van Winkle; they later divorced. She married
Edwin Bertelsen in 1950; he died in 1979. In 1994, she married
Gene Richter.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Tim Van Winkle, Mick Van Winkle and Dick Bertelsen; brother, James Chaney; sister, Lois Moyer; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Edna L. Bray
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie for Edna L. Bray, who died April 3 at 98. Mrs. Bray was born Edna Siefert on May 30, 1902, in Waverly, Minn. She was a homemaker. She was married
to Paul Cysewski, Joseph Fossati and Herbert J. Bray. They died before her.
She is survived by sons John Cysewski and Donald Cysewski; and daughters Loretta Johnston and Eunice Winter.

Richard David Broughton
A funeral Mass will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego for Richard David Broughton, who died April 2 at age 62. Mr. Broughton was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Portland, where he lived all his life. He graduated from Cleveland High School and served in the Oregon National Guard. He worked for Eoff Electric for 32 years, retiring in wholesale electrical sales in 1999. In 1985, he married
Phyllis Paola.
Survivors include his wife; son, David; daughters, Melissa Manley and Lisa Broughton; brothers, Don Draper and Bill Draper; sister, Patty Selzler; and two grandchildren.

Donald E. Brown
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Gresham Funeral Chapel for Donald E. Brown, who died April 2 at age 89. Mr. Brown was born July 17, 1911, in Liberty, Mo. He moved to Vancouver, Wash., in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. In 1951, he moved to Portland and was a welder for several companies, retiring from Rego-Wagner Mining Equipment in 1979. Billie Jensen.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Sherrill R. and Terry L; daughter, Dawn L.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Favorite E. Bruce
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, in Skyline Memorial Gardens for Favorite E. Bruce, who died April 3 at age 97. Mrs. Bruce was born Favorite E. Pendleton on Dec. 2, 1903, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She lived in Tillamook for 42 years before moving to Portland in 1981 and was a homemaker. In 1923, she married
Charles Walter Bruce; they later divorced.
Survivors include her daughters, Ruth McNiece, Grace Pesterfield and Alice Wells; sons, Paul "Frank" and Walter John; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Her son David died in 1982.

William Ceaser
A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Killingsworth Little Chapel of the Chimes for William Ceaser, who died March 21 at age 75. Mr. Ceaser was born March 13, 1925, in Carriere, Miss. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He moved to Portland in 1972 and was a painter for the University of Portland for 11 years, retiring in 1983. In 1969, he married
Betty Mae Brumfield.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Brenda Ceaser, Denise Ceaser, Willa Ceaser and Brenda Norris; stepdaughters, Joyce McCollum, Debra Osturad, Eva Watts and Bernice Richardson; sons, Madison and Whardell; stepsons, Roland Brumfield and David Newman; brother, Carl; 49 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. His daughter Donna died in 1998 and his son William in 1987.
Interment in Willamette National cemetery.
Eleanor Churchill
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church for Eleanor Churchill, who died March 26 at age 88. Mrs. Churchill was born Eleanor Lorena Fleck on Oct. 10, 1912, in New York and was raised in Portland. She graduated from Commerce High School and was a self-employed licensed massage therapist until about 1970. She was a volunteer Red Cross swimming instructor in the 1960s.
Survivors include her son, Terry Lubeck; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her son Richard J. Moore died in 1957, and her son Robert L. Moore died in 1998.
