Verla E. (Lutz) Dunbar, 96, of Ashland, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Ashland Community Hospital, Ashland. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.
Carl Henry Fehige
Carl Henry Fehige, 87, formerly of Ashland, died April 11, 2003 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. No memorial services are planned.
Mr. Fehige was born July 4, 1915. His early childhood was spent on a ranch which was located on Upper Emigrant Creek Road. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1934 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked for the Ashland Grange Co-Op from July 1946 until retiring as manager in 1969.
Mr. Fehige loved animals, and he enjoyed farming, ranching and traveling.The last 19 years of his life were spent in Florida and Alberta.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; a step-daughter, Connie, of Orem, Utah; his sister Edna of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
William "Bill" Charles Waugh
Memorial services will be held for William "Bill" Charles Waugh, 73, of Talent at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Faith Tabernacle, 840 Faith Ave., Ashland. Pastor Dan Prince will officiate. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Waugh died Monday, June 2, 2003 at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.
Mr. Waugh was born on Dec. 8, 1929 in San Francisco. On May 28, 1954, he married Nelly M. Rocha, who survives.
Mr. and Mrs. Waugh moved to the Rogue Valley in 1974 from San Jose, Calif.
Mr. Waugh served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned a bachelor's degree in insurance from San Francisco University, Calif. He began his career in insurance in 1954 as a marketing representative. After retirement he opened the Woodland Insurance Agency in Ashland. He then moved his operation to the Talent Insurance Agency where he remained in business until his death.
Mr. Waugh was a member of the Ashland Duplicate Bridge Club, Ashland Pinochle Club, and the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship. He served on the Talent City Council for two terms. He was a member of the boards of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, and later the Ashland Foursquare Church. He loved bowling, swimming, and playing bridge.
Survivors include his wife, Nelly M. Waugh of Talent; one son, Philip Waugh of Medford; one daughter, Jennifer Hanson of Ashland; one sister, Elanor Hatt of Napa, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
