Clinton R. Rohrer
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2000, in Cornwell Colonial Chapel for Clinton R. Rohrer, who died Dec. 30, 2000, at age 92. Mr. Rohrer was born May 8, 1908, in Greeley, Kan. He lived in Kansas, Colorado, Idaho and Washington before moving to Portland in 1935. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. Before and after the war, he was a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years before his retirement in 1966. In 1965, he moved to Woodburn, where he was a member of the United Methodist Church. In 1929, he married
Ruth Forgey; she died Oct. 30.
Survivors include his daughter, Margaret Kemper; son, Richard; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Private interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family suggests remembrances to a favorite charity.
Betty Louise Schiele
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Mt. Scott Funeral Home for Betty Louise Schiele, who died Dec. 30, 2000, at age 77. Mrs. Schiele was born June 1, 1923, in Portland. Her maiden name was Coomer. She graduated from Franklin High School and was a homemaker. In 1948, she married
Ralph M. Schiele; he died in 1998.
Survivors include her sons, Ralph, Rick, Russ and Roby; daughter, Connie Stellges; brothers, Fred Coomer and Raymond Coomer; sister, Donna Wolf; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her son Randy died in 1991, and her son Ronnie in 1992.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
Lisa 'Mickey' Wible
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie for Lisa "Mickey" Wible, who died Dec. 23, 2000, of ovarian cancer at age 36. Mrs. Wible was born May 27, 1964, in Ontario and was raised in Milwaukie. Her maiden name was Mitchell. She graduated from Milwaukie High School and in 1995 from Linfield College. She was a credit manager for Tektronix for the past three years. She was a member of the church. In 1987, she married
Michael Wible.
Survivors include her husband; son, Reece; mother, Janie Richardson; father, Bill Mitchell; and sister, Lori Mitchell.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Providence Hospice. Arrangements are by Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
Ava Neal Bird
A memorial gathering will be Jan. 27, 2001, for Ava Neal Bird, who died Dec. 18, 2000, at age 73 in a car accident. Mrs. Bird was born Jan. 27, 1927, in The Dalles. Her maiden name was Neal. She graduated from nursing school in The Dalles and was an operating-room nurse for a few years after moving to Portland in 1954. She later was a nurse for the American Red Cross, and she volunteered with 4-H for more than 25 years. Her husband, Mark Bird, died in 1993.
Survivors include her son, David Pohrman; daughters, Fabia Pohrman-Taylor, Malia Pohrman Lackaff and Teresa Pohrman Bland; stepsons, Steve, Jim, Paul, Pat and John; brothers, Forrest Neal, Curtis Neal and Noel Neal; sisters, Sheila Fredrickson, Thais Smith and Wauna Ricci; and 20 grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the American Red Cross. Arrangements are by Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass.
Cheralee Kathleen Chavez
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in Keizer Funeral Chapel in Keizer for Cheralee Kathleen Chavez, who died Dec. 30, 2000, of anemia at age 62. Mrs. Chavez was born March 12, 1938, in Rawlins, Wyo. Her maiden name was Githens. She lived in Lincoln City and Portland as a child and graduated from Grant High School. She was a swim coach and beauty consultant in Reno, Nev., where she lived from about 1960 until moving to Keizer in September. In the early 1960s, she married
Harold Chavez.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Michelle Peirce; sons, Adam and Joel; mother, Rosalee Cross; sister, Sara "Susie" Guy; and five grandchildren.
Interment will be in Willamette National cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation, P.O. Box 613, Annapolis, MD 21404.
Mary L. Hostetler
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, in Zion Mennonite Church in Hubbard for Mary L. Hostetler, who died Dec. 22 at age 91. Mrs. Hostetler was born June 17, 1909, in Hubbard. Her maiden name was West. She was a homemaker and a member of the church. She worked in the cafeteria of the Canby School District's 91 School in the 1970s, then was a caregiver for the elderly for 10 years, retiring at age 80. In 1929, she married
Samuel Hostetler Sr.; he died in 1971.
Survivors include her sons, Samuel Jr. and Stanley; brother, Clarence West; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Private interment was in Zion Mennonite cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Willamette Falls Hospice. Arrangements are by Canby Funeral Home.
Richard James Keep
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in St. Pius X Catholic Church for Richard James Keep, who died Dec. 29, 2000, at age 72. Mr. Keep was born Oct. 23, 1928, in Portland. He graduated from Columbia Prep and the University of Portland. He worked for General Electric for 35 years and moved to the San Francisco area when he became a sales manager for its large-lamp division in 1968. He retired in the early 1980s and moved to Beaverton in 1988. He was a member of the church. In 1951, he married
Regina C. Kempster; she died in 1992.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary Claire Morin, Kathleen M. Spencer and Jeanne; son, James J.; and seven grandchildren.
Private interment will be in Mt. Calvary Catholic cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Arrangements are by Hennessey, Goetsch & McGee Funeral Directors.
Ronald Calvin McReary
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in Columbia Funeral Home in St. Helens for Ronald Calvin McReary, who died Dec. 29, 2000, at age 59. Mr. McReary was born March 20, 1941, in Portland. He graduated from Clatskanie High School. He was a heavy-equipment operator out of Local 701, and his jobs included work on the John Day Dam and restoration of the South Jetty at Fort Stevens. He lived in Longview, Wash., for the past 20 years.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathleen Ray and Dawn Linville; son, Ronald K. Derby; brothers, Harold R. and Darrell T.; sisters, Karen L. Happala, Sharon A. Graves and Darlene M. Irving; and six grandchildren.
Interment will be in Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scappoose.
Mabel Edwards Peasley
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in East Lawn Palms cemetery in Tucson, Ariz., for Mabel Edwards Peasley, who died Dec. 26, 2000, at age 89. Mrs. Peasley was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Wausau, Wis. Her maiden name was Aldridge. A registered nurse, she worked in hospitals in Waukegan, Ill., and Tucson, retiring in 1976. She lived in Tucson from 1967 until moving to Portland in 1994. She was a member of Oak Hills Presbyterian Church in Milwaukie. In 1938, she married
William H. Edwards; he died in 1977. She married
George Peasley in 1983; he died in 1993.
Survivors include her son, Larry Edwards; daughters, Rebecca Yasenchak, Sharon Shaffer and Kathleen Reingold; stepdaughter, Donna Huebl; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances to her church. Arrangements are by Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes.
Carlo Piluso
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in Willamette National cemetery for Carlo Piluso, who died Nov. 29, 2000, at age 96. Mr. Piluso was born June 13, 1904, in Portland. He graduated from Benson Polytechnic School and Oregon Agricultural College (now OSU). During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He worked for Army Missile Command in San Francisco and Huntsville, Ala., retiring in 1974, then lived in Merced, Calif., until moving to Gresham in November. In 1952, he married
Helen Storie.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Marilyn Wang; son, Joe; brothers, Peter and Charles; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel.
Theone Esther Quam
Theone Esther Quam died Dec. 25, 2000, of renal cell cancer at age 47. A service was held. Mrs. Quam was born Dec. 26, 1952, in Minneapolis. Her maiden name was Chartier-Bartels. She lived in Alexandria, Minn., for many years before moving to the Portland area in 1991. She worked for Pacific Specialty Rehabilitation Care Center in Vancouver, Wash., as a certified nursing assistant until last year, and she was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Gladstone.
Survivors include her daughters, Melissa Griffin, Jacqueline Quam and Jessica Martin; parents, Delmer and Kay Bartels; sisters, Diane Hanebuth and Stacy Welin; brothers, Todd Bartels and Kevin Bartels; and two grandchildren.
Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery in Corbett. The family suggests remembrances to the March of Dimes in memory of Dean Bartels. Arrangements are by Crown Cremation & Funeral Services.
Hilda Marie Reno
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, in the home of Arvid Gray, 504 S.E. Cedar St., Hillsboro, for Hilda Marie Reno, who died Dec. 23, 2000, at age 76. Mrs. Reno was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Gallup, N.M. Her maiden name was Smith. She moved to the Pumpkin Ridge area in 1948 and to Hillsboro in 1957. She was a homemaker. In 1942, she married
Bert Reno; he died in 1997.
Survivors include her daughters, Ilene Bailey and Dianne Wells; brothers, Albert Smith, Leroy Smith and Richard Smith; sister, Bonnie Dixon; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Valley Memorial Park. The family suggests remembrances to the nursing scholarship fund at Portland Community College. Arrangements are by Donelson, Sewell & Mathews Mortuary.
Ronald Lee Roberts
Ronald Lee Roberts died Dec. 24, 2000, of hepatitis C at age 48. A private memorial gathering was held. Mr. Roberts was born Aug. 9, 1952, in Oakland, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army and then moved to Portland. He was a manager for Dan Hanna Carwash.
Survivors include his daughter, Aimee Villanueva; son, Steven; stepsons, Jeremy Laws and Danny Skuse; parents, Elmer and Leota; brothers; sisters; and grandchildren.
Interment is in Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements are by Aftercare Cremation & Burial Service.
