Ruby Marcia Fox Ryals
Ruby Marcia Fox Ryals, 103, of Ashland, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Skylark Assisted Living Community. No service is planned.
She was born Feb. 25, 1900, in Oakland, Calif. In March 1925, she married Myron Ryals, who died in 1976.
Mrs. Ryals worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 25 years before retiring in 1974. She lived in the San Francisco Bay area for most of her life. She moved to Ashland in 2000.
Ruby was blessed with a clear mind and an able body up until her death. She loved animals and enjoyed helping others through her strong spiritual devotion and positive life outlook.
Survivors include friends and stff at Skylark; two great nephews and their families; the Rooklyn family in Ashland; the Daniel's family in Discovery Bay, Calif.; a niece, Connie Daniels, Alameda, Calif.; and friends from the San Francisco Bay area.

Jeffrey David Ellis
The Mass of Christian Burial for Jeffrey David Ellis will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mel's Catholic Church, 4745 Pennsylvania Ave., Fair Oaks, Calif.
Mr. Ellis, 23, of Ashland, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in a kayaking accident in the Shackleford Falls area near Fort Jones, Calif.

He was born Jan. 14, 1980, in Sacramento, Calif., to Jim and Irene Ellis. Members of his family were pioneers of Siskiyou County, and his great-grandfather was the chief of police in Yreka, Calif., for 44 years. He was raised in the Sacramento and Santa Cruz areas.
He attended Bella Vista High School and graduated from Del Campo High School in 1998. He was an all-league football and baseball player during his high school years and an All-Northern California football player at American River College, where he received an associate's degree.
He moved to the Rogue Valley two years ago to attend Southern Oregon University and explore the local rivers.
Mr. Ellis was an accomplished kayaker who went from a beginner to a certified instructor, kayaking with experts, in three years time. He also won two kayaking competitions.
He enjoyed people, kayaking and his dogs, Buddy, Copey and Elvis.
Survivors include his parents, Jim and Irene Ellis, Carmichael, Calif.; and a brother, Jim Jr., Carmichael, Calif.

Susan Dunn Edwards
A celebration of the life of Susan Dunn Edwards will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church of Ashland, Siskiyou Boulevard and Walker Avenue. The Rev. Scott Dalgarno will officiate.
Miss Edwards, 44, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, of stomach cancer at KC's Adult Family Care center in Medford, under the care of Providence Hospice.

Miss Edwards was born July 15, 1958, a daughter of Robert and Charleen Edwards of Ashland.
She lived in the Edwards Street group home run by Living Opportunities and was employed at the Medford store operated by Goodwill of Southern Oregon.
Survivors include her parents; three brothers, David, Claremont, Calif., Duncan, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Steven, Salinas, Calif.; and a sister, Eileen Edwards Denne, Alexandria, Va.

Gladys L. Schaul
The funeral for Gladys L. Schaul will be 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Interment will be at the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
Mrs. Schaul, 90, of Ashland, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at a Medford Foster Home. She was born June 1, 1912 at Los Angeles, Calif. the daughter of Jennie and Walter Davis and was attended schools in the Los Angeles area.
She was married to Russell L. Whitaker and following their divorced married Kenneth Schaul. Due to ill health, she moved to Ashland in 1996 to be near her son. Mrs. Schaul enjoyed sewing, gardening, and traveling.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Schaul currently living in the Los Angeles area; her son Russell Whitaker of Ashland; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son and one brother.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Henriette Jeanne Picaud
Henriette Jeanne Picaud, 95, of Ashland, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at a local foster home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003 at Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville.

She was born May 16, 1907 in Williamsbridge, NY, to Joseph and Julie (Labourie) Picaud. She moved from New York to the Rogue Valley in 1947 and have been living here since.
She owned and operated the Sheep Ranch and Garden Nursery in Medford for 23 years. Her interests include Ham Radio and gardening. She was member of the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Commission, Jackson County Forest Advisory Council, Applegate Garden Club and Rogue Valley Amateur Radio Club.
She was survived by the Offenbacher Family. She was preceded in death by her bother, George.
The Perl Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
Richard C. Tussing
Richard C. Tussing, 69, part-time resident of Ashland, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Tussing was born June 18, 1934 in Capac, Mich. He was a husband, father, brother and a friend.
