Helen Wright
The memorial service for Helen Wright will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004, in the Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel. Inurnment will be in the Los Angeles National cemetery in California.

Mrs. Wright, 85, of Medford, died Saturday (July 3, 2004). She was born March 21, 1919 in Budapest, Hungary. In 1939 in Sandy, WV she married Steven Vesselka, who preceded her in death in 1967.

She had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1980, moving here from Los Angeles, CA. She was a member of the VFW Women and the Senior Center in Los Angeles and Ashland.

Survivors include: two brothers, Jim Harshine, Grenada, CA and John Harsanyi, Martinville, VA; two sisters, Ethel of Virginia; Goldie of West Virginia and a grandson, David Johnson of Pacoima, CA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer Association, So. Oregon Chapter, 2860 State St., Medford, OR 97504.

Arrangements by: Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel.

Lois Lucille Ross
The graveside service for Lois Lucille Ross will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Memorial Park. The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. in Ashland Christian Fellowship with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating.

Mrs. Ross, 82, of Ashland, died Friday, July 2, 2004. She was born to William and Hilda Welch on Oct. 6, 1921 in Central Point, OR. On April 10, 1941 in Ilwaco, WA she married Charles Irvin Ross, who preceded her in death in 1977.

She graduated from Ashland High School on May 24, 1939.

While her husband served in the Navy during WWII, Lois moved to Boston to serve with the Red Cross Greater Boston War staff, whose motto was to "Keep your Red Cross at his side." Mrs. Ross was a bookkeeper for Ashland Accounting and Tax Services and later for Smith and Stevens Jewelers. She was also on a bowling league in Ashland and worshipped at Ashland Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed her grandchildren.

Survivors include: two sons, Dale W. Ross, Ashland; Jerry Ross, Grants Pass; a daughter, Vicki Plankenhorn, Talent; a brother, Wm. "Bill" Welch, Medford; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the: American Cancer Society, 31 W. 6th. St., Medford, OR 97501.

Margaret M. Jacobson
Margaret M. Jacobson, a woman of grace, a woman of God, passed away on July 3, 2004.

Margaret, 96 years of age, a resident of The Lodge at the Woods, Little River, CA, was born December 11, 1907, in Chehalis, WA to William L. and Emma Scribner Smith. On June 21, 1936, in Port Angeles, WA, she married Carl O. Jacobson, who predeceased her in 1993. She came to the Mendocino Coast in 2000 from Rohnert Park, CA, previously of Medford and Crescent City, CA.

Margaret was a loved primary school teacher in Port Angeles and Crescent City areas for many years. She also was a pianist/organist at Baptist Churches in Port Angeles and Medford for an extensive time.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Gwen Jacobson of Mendocino; daughter, Karlene Clendenning of Pittsburg, PA; three grandchildren, James Clendenning, Laurel Sillins, and Enrico Clendenning; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., July 8, in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mendocino Presbyterian Church, Mendocino, CA or to the Eastwood Baptist Church, Medford.

Marlyn Louise Rohde
Marlyn Louise Rohde went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 3, 2004. She left this world peacefully at her home in Eagle Point, Oregon.

She was born in East Los Angeles, California on October 2, 1935 to Albertine Louise & Alfred Eugene Jleming jr. and one sister Barbara Ragan who lives in Southern California with her family.

She graduated from Huntington Park High School in Huntington Park, CA and attended Mount San Antonio College in Pomona, CA for 1 year. She lived in Southern California for 44 years before moving to Southern Oregon in 1979.

During Marlyn's life she had numerous jobs; telephone operator, secretary. receptionist, semi truck driver (owner), pear packer, order entry, bus driver & monitor, seamstress and the hardest of all, Mother.

She was a very strong willed & amazing woman who loved her children and grandchildren very much. She was always there for them. She will be in our hearts forever.

Diann Lynn Choi
Diann Lynn Choi, 58, of Medford died Monday (July 5, 2004) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Francis Donald Casper
Francis Donald Casper, 89, of Medford, died July 1, 2004 at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Eagle Point National VA cemetery. Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home.

George Harper
George Harper, 62, (Jan 2, 1942) of Gold Hill, died Tuesday (July 6, 2004) in Shady Cove. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Lloyd Allen Smith
Lloyd Allen Smith, 48, (April 6, 1956) of Ruch, died Tuesday (July 6, 2004) in Talent. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Melba C. Ward
Melba C. Ward, 96, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at her residence in Grants Pass. Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley - L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Nina N. Day
Nina N. Day, 73 (July 28, 1930), of Medford, died Saturday (July 3, 2004) at her home. Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary.

Phyliss Harrer
Phyliss Harrer, 87, of Medford, died Sunday (July 4, 2004) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

William Edward Hibberts
William Edward Hibberts, Jr. of Gold Hill, died Saturday (July 3, 2004). Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

James "ED" Russell
Ed Russell, age 93, died May 7, 2005 at his sister's home in Phoenix, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the Eagle Point Grange. All are invited to come and share memories of Ed.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Humane Society or another charity of your choice.

Mr. Russell was born May 6, 1912 to George and Lilly Russell in Marathon, Texas. He lived the last 30 years of his life in the Rogue Valley. On July 8, 1947 he married Katherine "Betty" Brooke in El Paso, Texas.

Ed was a pilot and mechanic retiring after 19 years with El Paso Natural Gas Co. He attended Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas and Texas College of Mines.

He had a lifetime passion for cars and airplanes, building several of each himself. He was a member of the Rogue Valley Old Timer and Contemporary Autos of Southern Oregon car clubs as well as being a life member of the VFW, Hump Pilots Association, National Sheriff's Association and a Mason. He was involved for many years with the Eagle Point 4th of July Parade serving as its Grand Marshall in 1991.

Ed was a WW II veteran having served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. He remained in the Reserves until 1966.

He is survived by sons Mike and Steve; daughter, Laura Needham-Stanley; sisters, Nellie Jackson, Pauline Turpin, Virginia Peterson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty, and his brother Coley.

William Bruce "Bill" Bryan
October 30, 1946 - April 15, 2005

William "Bill" Bryan was born in Manhattan, Kansas to William J. and Edith Elnor Bryan, the eldest of five siblings. He grew up in Topeka, Kansas, southern Utah and Cave Junction, Oregon, where he attended high school.

Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970, where he proudly served in the U.S. and in Germany. After the service, Bill moved back to Topeka, Kansas where he met and married his current wife Abbie Gail Powell on Oct. 4, 1986, who survives. They honeymooned across country to make their home in Medford.

For 15 years, Bill enjoyed working for the Rogue Valley Manor as a building maintenance engineer.

Out of his love for the Nevada desert, he founded the Desert Rats camping expeditions.

Bill had the awesome ability to capture the glory of God in his beautiful scenic photography. He was a former member of the Southern Oregon Photographic Association, where he won numerous ribbons and awards for his "Creation Splendor" photography.

For fifteen years Bill and Abbie were former members at Reese Creek Christian Center, where Bill served as a Deacon. Bill's most current church home was New Song Church, Holly Street chapel in Medford, where his wife is still attending. He and Abbie were involved with the Rogue Valley Intercessory Prayer group and the Medford Healing Room Ministries of Medford. In 2001, God moved all Heaven and earth to reunite Bill with his twin sons, William Bruce, Jr. and Jon Paul Bryan. In January 2002 a blood disorder called TTP totally destroyed his kidneys; in August 2004, Bill was diagnosed with Cancer of the bone marrow and lymphatic system. At age 58, on April 15, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. he ascended his earthly body to be with Jesus.

In addition to his wife, Abbie, survivors include twin sons, William Bruce, Jr., and Jon Paul; two grandchildren, Brittany Nichole and Sebastian Bradley Bryan, all of Florida; his mother, Edith Elnor Higgins; his father, William Jennings Bryan, both of Kansas; one brother, Randall "Randy" Bryan of Central Point; and three sisters, Rita Fincher of Medford, Lois Kershaw of Snowqualmie, WA, and Beth Dickson of Topeka, KS.

A Memorial service will held Sunday, May 15, 2005 at 3 p.m. at New Song Church, 520 N. Holly St., Medford. Potluck to follow.

At families request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for help with expenses may be made to New Song Church, Bill Bryan Memorial Fund, 520 N. Holly, Medford, OR 97501 or to Abbie Bryan, P.O. Box 544, Medford, OR 97501.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Dean Raniele and Dr. Susan Kohler for their excellent compassionate professional care and to all those who loved, transported, cared for and visited. We would like to thank all the folks at the Rogue Valley Dialysis Center for their helpful kind loving care. We would also like to thank the Healing Room Ministries, New Song Church, and all those who faithfully prayed for our precious Bill. We will be forever grateful.

To our beloved, peaceful warrior, we must say good-bye for now. You will be missed!

A graveside service for Grady Mocabee will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, May 14, 2005, at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Mr. Mocabee, 46, died Tuesday (May 10, 2005).

James C. Jack
The graveside service for James Clyde Jack, 70, who died Thursday, May 12, 2005, will be on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

John Dawkin
John Dawkin, 83, of White City, died Thursday (May 12, 2005) at Medford Rehabilitation & Care Center, Medford. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Wendelin 'Wendy' Wallace
Wendelin "Wendy" M. Wallace, 56, of Ashland, died Thursday (May 12, 2005) at her home. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Wilma Carney
Wilma Mae Carney, 93, of Medford, died May 12, 2005, at a local foster care home. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Barbara J. Arnspiger
A graveside service for Barbara J. Arnspiger will be held at 1 p.m Wednesday at Eagle Point National cemetery. A visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. A Rosary will follow.

Mrs. Arnspiger, 68, of Medford, died Friday (March 13, 2005) in Medford.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1935 in Glendale, CA, a daughter of Joe and Carlotta (Wade) Halle. On June 2, 1956 in Las Vegas, NV she married Neil Henry Arnspiger who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1986 from Nan Nuys, CA.

Mrs. Arnspiger worked at Mervyns and Bobbie's Day Care while living in Oregon. In California she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for various insurance agencies.

She was very creative and unique in her own special way. She enjoyed walking, shopping and visiting people.

Barbara was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford.

In addition to her husband, Neil, survivors include a son Chester (Carol) Arnspiger of Medford; three daughters, Carrie Smith of Saratoga Springs, NY, Jennie M Kogak (Philip) of Chatsworth, CA, and Becky Arnspiger of Huntington Beach, CA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two half sisters, Nancy and Lila .

Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America.

David Allan Smith
A graveside service for David Allan Smith will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Smith, 55, of Medford died Friday (March 13, 2005) at his home.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1949 in Alameda, CA to Melvin and Bertha (Stevens) Smith. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1971 from Alameda, CA.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam War.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting sports cards and surfing the Internet.

Survivors include a son, Nathan Smith of Fortuna, CA; a sister, Pat Smith of Medford; a brother Don Smith of Roseburg, OR; and two grandchildren, Curtis and Tylor Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Ella Marie Turrell
Ella Marie Turrell, 78, of Medford died May 15, 2005 at Farmington Square. Private services will be held.

She was born April 5, 1927 at Pottawatomie, KS. She married Vangie Turrell May 19, 1986 in Reno, NV.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. While traveling. she enjoyed driving the family's 36 foot motor home.

Survivors include her husband Vangie; daughter De De Vajda; three brothers, two sisters; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Home, Medford.
