Ellen Allen
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ellen Allen will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Medford Friends Church, 525 DeBarr Ave., Medford. Friends are invited to attend.
Ellen Allen passed away on March 17, 2005 in Corvallis, OR.
She was born Ellen Evelyn Hoss in San Francisco, CA on Oct. 31, 1917. She lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay area.
In 1938, Ellen was appointed an agent for Greyhound Corp. in Menlo Park, CA. She helped to design the attendants uniforms and was one of the few women qualified to ferry buses. At that time she was the only woman in the company to hold the position of agent.
In March of 1943 she married
William "Jay" Allen. They moved to Medford in 1948. They established an automobile dealership which thrived for the next 45 years.
Ellen was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for her daughters and was involved with the Rogue Valley Girl Scout Council for a number of years. She took great pride in her daughters and volunteered in their classrooms, and was a loving, dedicated mom.
She was a talented muscian and loved listening to music and band concerts. She played the piano and trumpet. She also enjoyed many artistic pursuits including embroidery, creating ceramic items, and decorating cakes.
Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her friends and family as the first person to respond when someone needed help.
She is survived by her three daughters, four grandchildren, her loving sister and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen joined her husband Jay and her grandson Jay Thomas Canning who preceded her in death.

The family would like to thank the staff of Benton Hospice Services who deeply enriched Ellen's life.
The accomplisments of this wonderful lady were many. She was loved by all. She will be missed.
Eric E. Parton
In Loving Memory April 26, 1960 - April 3, 2004 Born son of James D. Parton and Roberta Parton Livingston and raised in Medford, he attended and graduated from the Medford Schools.
He worked for many local businesses and some in other areas. Some of those were Rogue Valley Manor, Las Margaritas, Holiday Inn, Nendells, Red Lion, Linda's, Rogue Valley Medical Center, La Burrita, Horizon Airlines, Loli's, Red Baron, the Intercontinental Hotel in Maui, the Beach House in Gold Beach and most recently the Rogue Regency Inn. He waited tables, catered, supervised, managed and wore many hats in his career. He was a very talented man, hard worker and had a great sense of humor. He loved to travel and saw many places from Orlando, Florida, Kehei, Hawaii to Victoria, British Columbia.
He left behind his parents; brothers, Michael J., Dennis L., twin brother Derek A.; half-brother, Matthew W. Livingston; many aunts, uncles and other family members; and dozens of friends as well. He is remembered and missed. May his soul find the peace he could not find here on this earth.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Shirley Parton and his stepfather, Albert "Cal" Livingston.
Grace Geraldine Anderson
Grace Geraldine Anderson, 84, of Medford, passed away March 30, 2005.
She was born in Valley, WA on March 19, 1921 to Andrew Zwan and Mary Ambrozic. She moved to Grants Pass, OR where she graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1939. Grace married
Virgil Anderson on October 5, 1939, and their commitment to each other continued for 65 years.
Grace's passion was her garden. A myriad of flowers and vegetables flourished from her loving constant care and attention. Beautiful roses grew everywhere in her yard and an abundance of tomatoes was shared with everyone.
She was a lady, and a meticulous, dedicated housewife and stay-at-home mother of her four children, cooking excellent home-made meals for her family, including at the holidays her traditional home-made cinnamon rolls, divinity and fudge, and desserts of scrumptious home-made pies.
Survivors include her sons, Larry, Gene; and daughters Jerrie and Marchelle; eight grandchildren, Eric, Heidi, Wendi, Janell, Tami, Shannon, Denae, Krista; three great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister. Grace was preceded in death by 11 of her brothers and sisters.
A viewing and rosary will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, April 3, at Perl Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 4, at Sacred Heart Church, and a graveside service will follow at Perl Funeral Home and Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
Jill Vernal Bigelow Layton
The celebration of Jill Layton's outstanding life will be held to honor and remember her at Applegate Christian Fellowship on Friday, April 8, 2005. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor "Bucky" from Applegate Christian officiating.
Jill had a life-long passion for learning. The family would like to continue fulfilling her dream. A Jill Layton Memorial Scholarship Fund has been set up at Key Bank. Donations may be made at any branch in lieu of flowers.
Jill passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 25, 2005 at Providence Medical Center. She was born October 17, 1961 in Livingston, Montana to John Bigelow of Condon, Oregon and Janet Regalia of Eugene. Raised in the Rogue Valley area, Jill graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1979.
After Jill married
her best friend, Timothy Layton at Cove Palisades State Park, Lake Billy Chinook on September 24, 1989, they moved to Alameda, California where Tim completed his naval career. Together they lived a life of volunteerism. At Tim's side, Jill was the president of the Condon Lady Elks Association. Many lives benefited from their service as volunteer emergency medical technicians. Jill never turned down an opportunity in service of others.
Jill was an outstanding, dedicated educator. Jill attended Lewis and Clark College where she earned her BS in June 1983. She was a language arts/drama teacher before pursuing an educational administrative license and a Master of Education degree from George Fox University in 2000. Administratively, Jill positively impacted as a K12 principal, a curriculum coordinator, and most recently, a literacy specialist at the Southern Oregon Education Service District. Jill was in her last year of her doctorate at George Fox University. Some go into teaching because it's a job. Jill went into teaching to make a difference and the lives she touched have been changed forever.
All who knew Jill, will remember twinkling eyes, laughter, and a good joke at the right moment. Jill leaves behind her husband, Tim Layton of Medford; step-daughter, Stephanie Layton-Cudahy and grandson, Ethan of Rogue River; father, John Bigelow of Condon; mother, Janet Regalia of Eugene; and brother, Jason Bigelow.
Kenneth Dale Robertson
Kenneth Dale Robertson, 70, of Medford, died March 28, 2005, at home.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Washington.
Ken was born on April 12, 1934 in Medford to Paul and Nora (Childreth) Robertson. He lived in the Rogue Valley his entire life.
He worked as an Edgerman, retiring from Boise Cascade Sawmill after 37 years.
He was a master craftsman and boat maker. He enjoyed gardening, gambling (Keno!) and rock polishing.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Debra Kae Pittman of Central Point, and Karen Denice Chapman of Medford; brother, Wilmer Robertson of Bend; four grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Paul Robertson; his parents; and a sister, Helen House of La Conner, WA.
Per B. Nevard
Per B. Nevard, 91, passed away on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2005 at the Health Center of the Rogue Valley Manor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 3 p.m. at the Rogue Valley Manor in the Deschutes Room of Skyline Plaza.
Per was born on May 7, 1913 in Egersund, Norway. He came to San Francisco, CA in 1929 where he met and married
Birgit Sorensen, also from Norway. Per spent some years on a ship attaining the rank of Skipper with the Merchant Marine during World War II. Upon retiring from the service, he became a C.P.A. and in 1945 began a 32 year career with Gump's Inc. as the store's Secretary/Treasurer and Controller.
After Birgit's death in 1994, Per moved from Santa Barbara, CA to the Rogue Valley Manor. Per is survived by three children, Carol Jacobs of Central Point, Judith Wood of Watsonville, CA and Peter Nevard of Hillsboro. He also has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Per Nevard's family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the staff in the Health Center of the Rogue Valley manor for their conscientious and loving care during his four years of residency there.
Rayma Melindia Bowdish Burger
Rayma Melinda Bowdish Burger passed away on March 31, 2005.
Rayma was born to Herbert Ray and Myrtle (Ely) Bowdish on November 6, 1912, in Los Angeles, California. She was one of four children including three brothers, Melvin, Harley and Darrell, all having preceded her in death. She attended school in Los Angeles and then moved to Seattle with her mother to help her run a boarding house.
She married
Floyd Burger and had one child, Nancy Burger, in Seattle. The family then settled in San Leandro, California until 1950, when they moved to Medford. Her husband, Floyd, passed away in 1984 after they had settled in Gold Hill. She moved back into Medford until 2000 when she moved to Audubon, New Jersey, to live with her daughter.
She enjoyed being with her family, bowling, playing cards and gardening.
Rayma is survived by her daughter, Nancy Schofield Derman; son-in-law Ray Derman, Jr.; granddaughter Stacey Schofield; grandson Bryon Schofield; and great granddaughter Matilda Gilson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a true gentle-lady and will be missed by her family. She will always be remembered with love.
A life celebration is being held (today) Sunday, April 3, 2005 at 8:30 p.m. at The DuBois Funeral Home, 700 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ.

Robert Wright
Robert Isaac ("Zeke") Wright of Ashland, died at his home Wednesday (March 30, 2005) following a long illness.
Zeke was born in Milo, Oregon on August 13, 1927. Following both Navy and Army service, he joined the local 701 Union of Operating Engineers, and his work on dams, buildings and highway projects brought him with his family to Ashland during the construction of I-5 over the Siskiyous in 1960.
He was preceded in death by a sister Rosemary, and brother John. He is missed by two surviving brothers, Harry Wright of Myrtle Creek and Walter Wright of Houston, Texas; as well as his wife, Lois; and their three daughters, Rebecca Osvold, Helen Leider and Margaret Wright; and five grandchildren.
In retirement, Zeke enjoyed gardening and the Internet, becoming an avid essayist and library researcher on a variety of subjects.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at the Alliance Bible Chapel at 748 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, where he was an active member.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Sandrya "Sandy" Danehy
Sandrya "Sandy" Danehy, 71, of Medford, passed away Friday (April 1, 2005) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1934. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, where she attended and graduated from San Francisco State College.
Sandy was a school teacher in San Lorenzo, CA until she retired in 1991. After retirement she moved to Jackson County, and first lived on the north side of Lost Creek Lane before moving to Medford.
She was on the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Committee, where she served a term as the chairman. She supported a number of organizations such as the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy. Sandy was a court appointed special advocate for children in child protective service issues.
Sandy is survived by her husband Ed Danehy of Medford; one daughter, Danna Matola of Medford; two sons, Jon Peterson of Medford and Derek Peterson of San Jose, CA.

Virginia I. Cox
The funeral service for Virginia Isabella Cox will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Memory Gardens Mortuary Chapel with the Women of the Moose Lodge officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cox, 85, of Medford, died Thursday, (March 31, 2005). She was born Dec. 11, 1919 in Spokane, WA. On Nov. 19, 1938 in Eugene, OR she married
Thomas W. Cox, who preceded her in death in 1979. They had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1946, moving here from Portland.
Mrs. Cox was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Rebekah Lodge and the VFW.
She enjoyed crotcheting and hand-sewing.
Survivors include: two daughters, Janice Cox of Medford, Barbara Pritt of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Gordon E. Harris of Moab, UT; one grandson, James E. Pritt; two great-granddaughters, Jamie Peters and Natalie Pritt; and one great-great-grandson, Dillon Pritt.

Doris A. Gelsinger
Doris A. Gelsinger (Dembiczak), 76 years old, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 2, 2005.
Doris was born in Lake Alma, Sask., Canada. on June 4, 1928, where she met and married
her husband Joseph J. Gelsinger. Doris and Joe had two sons. Brian and Ken. In the early sixties, Doris and Joe packed up the whole family and moved to the United States, where they would start their own business. They landed in Southern California where the family owned and operated Marathon Glass for over twenty years.
Doris was a regular parish member at St. Denis Catholic Church in Diamond Bar, CA.
She loved hosting functions for family and friends and enjoyed the glitz of Las Vegas where they often would vacation. The last few years of her life were spent in Southern Oregon, where they moved to be closer to family.
Doris is survived by her son Brian and his family, her siblings Irene, Bernice, Dan, Larry. and her husband Joe; they were married
for 57 years.

Fred J. Clements
Fred J. Clements, age 74, died Sunday, April 3rd at Lebonan Hospital, with his longtime caregiver Theresa Colbert at his side.
Freddie (as he was fondly called) was born July 17, 1930 to the late Fred B. Clements and Ruby Varner-Clements in Grants Pass, Oregon.
His passion was bridges. As a boy he traveled with his mother and grandfather, Joseph Varner, who rebuilt the Robinson Bridge outside of Grants Pass plus many other smaller bridges in S.W. Oregon and Northern California.
Surviving relatives include his guardians Jill Sander of New York; Duane and Beckie Rabbe of Medford, Ore; Don and Sue Coltrane of Houston, TX; numerous other cousins, and his special family at the Schuler House in Albany, Oregon.
He touched many lives and will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the 7th Day Adventist Church, 2085 Grand Prarie Rd., Albany, Ore., Graveside service will be held Saturday, April 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, 2500 Upper River Rd., Grants Pass.
