Beatrice Brown
A graveside service for Beatrice Brown will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004, at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Dr. Ron McKay of Ruch Community Bible Church will officiate.

She was born March 29, 1925 in Danville, New York, a daughter of Otis and Olive McLean. She passed away December 20, 2004, at her home in Jacksonville, OR.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Elaine Mainwaring of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Brown; one son, David Lewis McCartney; and one daughter, Linda Ann McCartney.

Jack H. Couch, Jr.
A memorial service for Jack H. Couch Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Medford.

Mr. Couch, 58, of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 22, 2004) at his home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to; Hematology Oncology Assoc. for Indigent Care, c/o Providence Cancer Center, 940 Royal Ave., suite No. 100, Medford, OR. 97504.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1946 in Downey, CA. On June 21, 1946 in Covina, CA he married Barbara (Bobbi) Parker who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 25 years ago.

Mr. Couch enjoyed golf, spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Todd Michael Couch and his wife Kristen LeeAnn Couch of Medford; a daughter, Kristin Marie Couch of Medford; brothers; David W. Couch and family of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and H. Michael Couch and family of Diamond Bar, CA.; granddaughter, Morgan Rhae Couch; and grandson, Connor Michael Couch both of Medford. He was preceded in death by Jack H. Couch Sr., and mother, Joan Art Couch.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Joseph L. Lenhart
Joseph L. Lenhart passed away on December 23, 2004. He was born on January 17, 1915.

Joseph was a former resident of Eureka, CA, and moved to Medford eight years ago. His wife, Theresa Lenhart, preceded him in death in 1988.

Joseph enjoyed fishing, hunting and crabbing. Joseph is survived by his eight children, Jeanette (Johnnie) Eastteam, Kenneth (Doris) Lenhart, Linda (Don) Rippey, Carl (Randi) Lenhart, Lenard (Chris Ford) Lenhart, Mike (Jan) Lenhart, Tim (Chris Woodford) Lenhart, and Delann (Jerry) LaRue; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a memorial service in Eureka, CA, at a later date.

Katherine Kilbourn
Katherine Jene Kilbourn, 56, of Gold Hill, died Dec. 15, 2004 at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 at the Gold Hill United Methodist Church. Pastor Dick Titus will officiate.

Katherine was born on May 29, 1948 in Medford, a daughter of Arthur and Katherine (Boggs) Cook. She married Gordon Kilbourn in Chicago, IL in 1969. She moved back to Oregon in 1991 from Charleston, SC.

She worked for many years in customer srvice for Bear Creek Corporation. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching, crocheting, beaded jewelry and was an avid reader. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Joseph and his wife Patricia of Gold Hill; her mother, Katherine Cook of Gold Hill; a brother, Robert Cook of Medford; a sister, Jane Cook of Orleans, MS; and a grandson, Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris, Central Point Chapel.

John W. Forsyth
John W. Forsyth, 68 years old, of Medford, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Grants Pass.

Bob "The Barber" Slack
Bob "The Barber" Slack, 79, of Central Point, died Sunday (Dec. 19, 2004) at his home. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thurs., Dec. 23, at Hull & Hull Chapel, Grants Pass. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements; Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

Corrine Mae Mattingly
Corrine Mae Mattingly, 77, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 21, 2004) at her home. Arrangements; Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Jimmy Ray Tosh
Jimmy Ray Tosh, 70, of Medford, died Dec. 17, 2004. Arrangements; Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, Medford.

John W. Forsyth
John W. Forsyth, 68, of Medford, died Dec. 17, 2004 in Grants Pass. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the Eagle Point National cemetery. Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley- L.B. Hall Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Mary E. Roy
Mary E. Roy, 90, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Dec. 22, 2004). Arrangements; Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Patricia Jo Carnes
Patricia Jo Carnes, 54, of Medford, died Tuesday (Dec. 21, 2004) at her home. Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Alexander M. Hawkins
Alexander Matthew Hawkins, infant son of Matthew and Brandy Hawkins of Corvallis, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 in Portland.

Alex was born on Nov. 16, 2004 in Portland, OR.

In the short time Alex was with us he enriched our lives.

He had a spirit that brightened the lives of every heart he touched, and he will be in our hearts forever.

Survivors include his mother and father, Matthew and Brandy Hawkins; his sister, Emily Hawkins all of Corvallis; his grandparents, Clif and Lynette Hawkins of Central Point, and Randy and Jeanne Henne of Klamath Falls; his uncles, Micha and Morgan Hawkins of Central Point; his aunt, Brittany Henne of Klamath Falls; great-grandparents, L.L. and Pauline Stephens of Central Point, and Elmer Henne of Lebanon, Phyllis Thacker of Klamath Falls, Rex Morehead of Idaho and Helen Morehouse of Klamath Falls.

A memorial service will be held today, Wed., Dec. 22, 2004 at De Moss-Durdan Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Matthew and Brandy Hawkins. All donations received will be given to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Alexander's name.

Margaret 'Pearl' Heintz
Margaret "Pearl" Heintz, 88, died of a stroke Dec. 17th, 2004, in Ashland, Oregon.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Wilson; her granddaughter, Kimberly; and great-grandsons, Dylan and David of Ashland; son, David Heintz and his wife, Jan, of Anaheim, California; and son Glenn Heintz and his wife Bonnie; their son and daughter, Joel and Jackie, of Fresno, California. She was preceded in death by her husband Dave in 1998.

Services will be held at a later date.

Nina Lavon Pitts
Nina Pitts passed away on December 19th, 2004 at Rogue Valley Medical Center. She was born on July 5, 1927 in Oklahoma.

After extensive travel with her husband of 50 years, Glenn Pitts preceded her in death.

Survivors include sisters Alene, Darlene and Tina; daughters Glenda Stepp and Helen (Keith) Maxwell; grandchildren Brian (Leona) Maxwell, Kristi (Scott) Oakley, Stephen (Lisa) Maxwell, Monica Qubic and Wendy Stepp; great grandchildren Brian Jr., Glenn, Dwayne, Tyler, Daniel, Jake, Chris, Rebecca, Christopher, Christina, and Andrew.

Graveside services are planned for Thursday, December 23 at 11 a.m. at the Veteran's National cemetery in Eagle Point.

Opal Lorene Harpole
Opal Lorene Harpole, 90, of Medford, died Saturday (Dec. 18, 2004) at Farmington Square. Arrangements; Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Ivy E. Porter
Ivy E. Porter, 75, of Phoenix, died Monday, (Dec. 20, 2004) at Providence Medford Medical Center. Arrangements; Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Donald George VanCurler
Donald George VanCurler, 77, of Talent, passed away at his home on December 25, 2004.

Don was born January 28, 1927 in National City, CA to George and Alma VanCurler. He grew up in Ashland, OR, graduating from Ashland High School and attended one year at Southern Oregon University.

On December 2, 1956, Don married Barbara Linnie Covey in Toledo, OR, who survives.

Don was a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy from January, 1945 to April, 1946, and served in the reserves until January, 1955. After he was discharged from the Navy, he worked for the Forest Service at Union Creek and then worked for Beckie's Cafe. People came from all over to eat Don's Huckleberry Pie! In 1964, Don and his wife moved to Ashland, where he worked for 20 years as Maintenance Repair for Southern Oregon University. During his lifetime, Don enjoyed baking, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Elks Club for 25 years, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his loving dog, King.

Survivors include his wife Barbara, sons David (Laurie), Michael (Lisa) and granddaughters Shasta and Jackie.

The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. View Mobile Home Park Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Hospice of Providence Hospital.

Edna May Bryan
Edna May Bryan, 74, of Medford, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Perl Funeral Home. Chaplain John Braund of Asante Hospice will officiate.

She was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA. On Aug. 14, 1948, she married Francis Bernard Bryan, who passed away in August 2001. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1991, from Bellflower, CA. where they lived for over 30 years.

Edna was a homemaker. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren & great-grand children.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Grant; and Karen Walton; her son Richard Bryan; brother, Glen Kephart; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother Leona Kephart and her grandparents Orlando and Olive (Nana) Kephart; three sisters, and five brothers.

Raymond Kenneth Walsh
Raymond Kenneth Walsh, 89, of Medford, died December 26, 2004, at Alterra Winwood Assisted Care.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org; or Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice Program, 2825 E. Barnett Rd., Medford, Oregon 97504, www.asante.org.

Raymond was born August 18, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Elizabeth Walsh. On April 4, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Nore. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 from Long Island, New York.

Mr. Walsh, an Aviation Machinist's Mate, United States Navy, enlisted in November 1943. He was honorably discharged December 1945.

He was an avid flower and vegetable gardener; he especially loved roses in his later years. A skilled woodworker for many years, Ray donated hundreds of handmade wooden toys (trains, cars, trucks, cradles) to the Medford Police Department's annual Christmas toy drive. He loved to travel, particularly enjoying cross-country trips with his family. Ray's most endearing quality was that he loved people. He was an incredibly good natured person who never hesitated to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime.

He is survived by his children: Raymond P. Walsh of Eagle Point, and Kevin M. Walsh of Medford; grandchildren: Kenneth Charles Walsh of Corvallis, Tricia Williams of Bakersfield, CA, and Stacy Williams of San Francisco, CA. he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Walsh.

A memorial gathering will be on Thursday, December 30 from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford.

Perl Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sue Elin Salisbury
Sue Elin Salisbury, 62, talented artist, loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in Wichita, Kansas on November 18th. She was a resident of Jacksonville for 28 years.

Sue is survived by her son, Tony Cherin and his wife Jocelyn of El Cajon, California; her daughter, Jennifer Giambastiani Osborne and her husband John of South Woodstock, Vermont; her brothers Kent Salisbury of Arizona and Stan Salisbury of Georgia; and her grandchildren Kylie, Maia, and Christina. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sue's name to, Via Christi Riverside Hospital, 2622 West Central, Wichita, Kansas 67203.

Anna Lane
Anna Lane, 77, of Medford, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at her home. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Dale Lee Baker
Dale Lee Baker, age 52, of Eugene, formerly of Medford, died Monday, December 27, 2004. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Howard Leon Ashcraft
Howard Leon Ashcraft, 68, of Medford, died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at his residence. Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.

Corinne Mae Mattingly
Corinne Mae Brown Mattingly, 77, resident of Medford, Oregon died December 21, 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on February 26, 1927 in Santa Rosa, CA. Corinne married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Richard Mattingly on February 10, 1946. They were married 58 years. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2004.

She was a long time resident of Cupertino, CA. In 1986 they both retired to Medford, OR. Corinne was an active member of Jehovah's Witnesses for 39 years.

Also among her survivors are her sons and daughter-in-law Randy and Judith Mattingly, and Kit Mattingly; grandchildren, Timothy Mattingly, Emily Gonzalez, Marika Shepherd and Shannon Mattingly; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Rosetta Senior Living for the loving care given to their mother.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, December 25, 2004 at 4 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 953 Garfield Street, Medford.
