Joyce J. Ault
A memorial service for Joyce Ault will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Ashland Christian Fellowship, Ashland.
Mrs. Ault, 62, of White City, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 2004) at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

Survivors include: her husband Donald of White City; daughters, LeAnne Woodrome of Medford, Andrea Bunting of Harbor City, CA, Teri Ault of Glendale, AZ; a son, Kevin Ault of White City; and two brothers, Raymond Jordan and Donald Jordan both of Buena Park, CA; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny and Robert, and a granddaughter Carissa Woodrome.

Judith Ann Cooper
After a protracted battle with lung cancer, without ever giving up her cheerful and loving outlook on life, Judy passed away, at her home at Brownsboro, near Eagle Point, where she had lived the past 17 years with her husband of 30 years, Ed.
Judy was born in 1946, in Sacramento, and lived there until moving to Eagle Point to be with Ed in 1985.
She had worked for Harry & David for a number of years, until her illness made her too weak to continue.
Judy had a special gift of communicating with her horses and beloved German Shepherds, as though they could sense the fullness of love and peace she radiated to all those who came in contact with her. She loved riding the trails of the Cascades around the Rogue Valley, and exploring the Great Basin areas of Eastern Oregon with Ed and one or more of the dogs, who always accompanied her on her adventures.
Judy is survived by her husband Ed; her brother-in-law, Craig Palmer; her Mother-in-law, Ellamae Kudrna; her stepson, Matthew (Cooper) Stratton of Ann Arbor Michigan; her sister, Susan Serpa of Sacramento; and numbers of cousins and friends who loved her and will miss her very much.
There will be a potluck reception and celebration of her life from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at the Lake Creek Community Center, and anybody who was blessed enough to know Judy is invited.
In lieu of flowers, Judy has requested that those who wish make a donation to the Southern Oregon Humane Society in her memory.
Laura M. Heath
Laura M. Heath, 85, of Medford, Oregon died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, under Hospice care at the Rogue Valley Manor.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 16, in the Sunset Room at the Rogue Valley Manor. Interment of ashes will be at Memorial Park cemetery in Oroville, California.
She was born October 18, 1918, in Hillsboro, North Dakota to Arne and Inga (Folstad) Klemetson, both of whom were Norwegian immigrants. After her mother's death she spent part of her childhood with an aunt and uncle on a ranch in Harlowton, Montana. Laura returned to North Dakota and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1936 and Saint John's Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo in 1940. She went to California in 1942 to work as a nurse. She married
Sam R. Heath on May 25, 1943, in San Francisco. They lived in Oroville, Calif. for the next 45 years up until his death. Laura moved to Marshfield, Wisconsin in 1998 where she lived until she moved to Medford in late 1999.
She is survived by her children, Gary Heath of Clinton, Iowa and Larry Heath of Marshfield, daughter-in-law, Jeanette Heath, of Marshfied; three grandchildren, Josh Rowley (step), Beau Heath and Jesse Heath; a brother, Richard Klemetson; a niece, Diane Engelsbel; a nephew, Stanley Klemetson and numerous cousins in Norway.

He is survived by his wife Edith; two daughters, Delores Kaaukai and Judy Westcott; son Phillip; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Neil Richardson
Neil Richardson of Ashland passed away at home October 5, 2004.
He was born in Medford May 13, 1934 to Frank and Marguerite Richardson. He attended schools in the Medford area and graduated from Crater High School in 1952. He married
Beverly Moser in 1954.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in education from SOCE in 1956 and went on to obtain his Master's Degree in 1963.
He taught sixth grade at Briscoe Elementary School from 1956 until he became Principal at Helman Elementary School in 1967, where he remained until his retirement in 1998.
He is survived by his wife Beverly; daughter, Mary Ann Robinson of Portland, OR; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Greg Jacob of Hillsboro, OR; brother, Frank Richardson Jr. of Medford; granddaughter, Katy Robinson of Portland, OR; nephews, Dan Richardson and Lance Richardson of Medford, OR.
A private graveside service will be held at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.

Ruby E. White
The funeral service for Ruby Erna White will be at 3 p.m. Friday, in the Memory Gardens Chapel. Graveside will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. White, 92, of Medford, died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 2004).
She was born Feb. 16, 1912 in Springfield, MA. On Sept. 20, 1930 in Springfield, she married
Ernest White, who preceded her in death in 1998.
She had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1972, moving here from Redding, CA. She had a child care business in the 1950s. Later she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid reader.
Survivors include: a daughter, Pearl M. Becvar of Washington; two sons, William L. White of Medford, Steven M. White of Eagle Point; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal.

Betty G. Wilson
Betty G. Wilson, Ashland, died 9/27/04, at age 95, ending a loving, creative, effective life. Daughter Denise Miller (Bob), granddaughters Logan Miller & Samantha Miller Metheny (Steve), Minto Miller Thorsen (Jack), & great-granddaughter Teighe Thorsen were with her. She is survived by them, grandson Roc Miller (Sylmar, CA) great-grandson Graham Thorsen (Grace) & their son Elijah (Ashland).
Born Veta Elizabeth Geddes in Tacoma, WA on 4/19/09, Betty spent her early years there & in Seattle, moving to Beverly Hills with her family in 1915. She attended school at the early motion pictures studios where her mother taught, & appeared in many films.
Betty sang with the Los Angeles & Oakland Light Opera Companies, before & after her marriage to Robert Armour Wilson in 1935. Her beloved husband died in 1989. The daughter, sister & granddaughter of musicians, she & her family were also soloists at St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Hollywood for many years. Betty sang non-professionally & for 3 decades led & supported the Opera Reading Club of Hollywood. Many of her descendants are also musicians.
An abiding interest in organizations & ways to promote voter education & world peace led her to study political science, history, & economics at USC & UCLA. She was a delegate to the formative meetings of the United Nations in San Francisco in 1944 & established chapters of the American Association for the United Nations (now UNA-USA) in Westwood & Palos Verdes, CA & also ran the AAUN office in Beverly Hills.
After she & Bob followed their daughter's family to Ashland in 1976, & Denise into the League of Women Voters, Betty became president of the tiny Ashland Chapter. Her effective leadership led to national recognition for achieving the greatest growth of any League chapter in the entire United States, for 2 years in a row. She remained active with both League & UNA-USA until she was 90.
Betty & Bob designed & built or remodeled several commercial properties & houses. With the help of their daughter's family & many friends they created a warm, welcoming home in Ashland which they joyfully shared as they had those in Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes & Los Angeles, CA. Betty's great gifts for family, music, friendship & engagement in the organizations whose goals she supported so passionately gave birth to many life-long relationships which enriched her life & those of her family members.
Betty's family wish to thank all the dedicated souls who helped us care for her in her last years; Marilyn Hildreth, Grace Thorsen, Taylin Rama, Marty & Lolita Bell & her family, & the gentle Providence Hospice team of Marcia North, Leslie Mehaffey, Christine Payne, Laurie Ann Hunter & David Campbell. A memorial service will be held at the Ashland First Presbyterian Church on October 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. A reception at home will follow. Those who care to remember Betty with gifts may send contributions in her honor to the Ashland Chapters of the League of Women Voters, UNA-USA of Southern Oregon, or the R.V. Symphony Orchestra.
John Charles Nelson
John died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004 at home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on July 28, 1933, in Chicago, IL, where he lived until going away to college. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
After graduating from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, John worked for major newspapers in Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles. He then went into the advertising business, opening his own agency, The Nelson Group, in Westwood, CA.
In 1984, John semi-retired to the Rogue Valley. His lifelong fascination with architecture led him to some old buildings in downtown Medford, which he turned into the Main Street Market and also to some golf course projects for Paloma Golf Group.
John is survived by his wife, Phyllis K. Nelson; two stepsons and their families, Todd and Kymbra Neilson and their daughter, Faith of Medford, Brett and Tammy Neilson of Othello, WA. He is also survived by a daughter, Alexandria Nelson of Albuquerque, NM and his longtime friend and business partner, Alice McGee.
A celebration of John's life will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at Perl Siskiyou Funeral Home, with a reception following at the Rogue Valley Country Club.

Julia Barbara Hook
October 24, 1906 - September 30, 2004
Julia passed into eternal life, peacefully, in her own home, just short of her 98th birthday.
She was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Michael and Anna Valasek Pendrock. She married
Daniel M. Wygold in 1925 and raised 3 children. During WWII, they were proprietors of a restaurant in downtown Hastings, Nebraska. They divorced in 1944. She returned to Omaha where she worked as a salesperson in a department store. Later she married
Roy Hook. They owned a restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1955, they moved to San Mateo, California and then to Belmont, California. She worked as a salesperson for Montgomery Wards until retirement. She then did volunteer work at the Senior Center, in nursing facilities and at her church.
Julia's hobbies were quilting, knitting and crocheting. Her beautiful items were given to family and friends. She made lap robes for the nursing facilities. She was an avid reader, enjoyed music, played solitaire, was adamant about getting an education and always ready to go places. She had strong political interests and was looking forward to the upcoming election. She was a proud woman with an active mind and lived a full life. Her travels took her to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, Panama Canal, the Caribbean and across the U.S.
Julia moved to Oregon in 2002 and lived independently at Fountain Plaza until recently.
Julia is survived by her son, Daniel Mitchell (Paris) of Hillsbough, CA; daughters Alice Harp (Dale), of Ft. Collins, CO, and Judy Forst of Central Point; sister, Veronica Linde of Santa Rosa, CA; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Bill and Louie), both husbands and her long time companion Ed Mitchell.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and Peninsula Chapter of Eastern Star Burlingame, CA.
A family celebration of Julia's life is planned for October 24, 2004, her 98th birthday, on the coast. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospice.
We are all thankful for our time with Julia and will treasure our memories. She will be missed as mother, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, friend and "coach" for Wednesday's family bowling league.
Martha Lorraine Jensen

Martha was born on July 4, 1946 in Santa Monica, CA. She married
Robert R. Jensen on Jan. 27, 1977 in Torrance, CA.
She loved playing bingo and wanted her bingo buddies to know, no more candy. She was a homemaker and loved her family.
She is survived by her husband Robert; step-daughter, Kathy of Houston, TX; step-son, Keith of Sams Valley; a brother, Harry Betty of Auburndale, FL; and five grandchildren.

Mary Lucille Guttormsen

Mrs. Guttormsen, 83, of Medford, died Sunday (Oct. 3, 2004) at Rogue Valley Manor Health Center.
Mary Lou was born on Oct. 26, 1920 in Lenoir, NC.
She was the loving wife of Glen Guttormsen, loving step-mother of Gary Guttormsen, granddaughter Karli Efseaff, great-grandson, Owen Efseaff, and a loving cousin of Betty Ely of Bellview, WA.
She worked as an administrator for San Jose State University for 35 years.
Mary Lou was lifelong member of the Episcopal Church where she contributed her glorious soprano voice in several choirs. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
