Harry A. Laatsch
Harry Albert Laatsch, 96, of Shady Cove, died Wednesday, (Oct. 27, 2004) resulting from a heart attack on Sunday, Oct. 24.
He was born May 27, 1908, in Merrill, Wisconsin, to Fred and Mary Laatsch. In 1930 he married
Christine Anna Vandre in Merrill and this marriage lasted 66 years. She died in 1997, he lived alone, and was never on any medication.
The family moved to Colorado in 1944 and he worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal for two years. He was a diesel mechanic and worked in oil fields in Wyoming, Colorado and Utah until he retired. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1975.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Medford.
Survivors are a son, Don of Eagle Point; two brothers, Bill of Austin, Texas and Pete of Casper, Wyoming; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, James, 1955, and Gordon, 1984, two sisters and two brothers. A memorial service will be Thursday, November 4, 2004, at 5 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to to St. Peter's Elders fund.

James E. Dedrick Sr.
James E. Dedrick Sr. was born to Harvey and Clellah Dedrick in Ithica New York on June 25, 1929, died at his home in Medford, Oregon on October 28, 2004 after a long illness.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1949.
Married Anita Barber on October 14, 1950, in Harford Mills, New York, together they had seven children, then moved the family to Alaska in August 1964.
He pursued his passion for flying and received his pilots license in 1965 for land and sea, he flew three airplanes to Alaska from the lower forty eight between 1969 and 1984.
While in Alaska he was a 32nd degree Mason a member of the Eagles #3235, the Shriners, Jesters Court 182 and the Carpenters Union Local 1281, from which he retired in 1987 and moved to Medford, Oregon.
He is survived by his loving wife Anita of 54 years, sons Gary and James Jr., of Medford, Dale of Lee Mass., Keith of Wasilla, Alaska, Robert of Kenai, Alaska, and daughter Rebecca of Kenai, Alaska, brother Perry of Sacramento, Ca., Sister Mary Hickey of Tampa, FL, fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many more extended family members and friends.
preceded in death by his father Harvey, his mother Clellah, step-father Gordon Crump, son Donnie, infant grand-sons James III and Jamie.
There will be a memorial service at Medford Neighborhood Church, 1819 Stewart Ave., Medford, Oregon at 11:00 am on Monday November 1, 2004.
His cremation will be handled by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and his ashes will be spread in the Kenai River at Cunningham Park in Kenai, Alaska on June 25, 2005.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hospice Program of Rogue Valley Medical Center 2825 E. Barnett Road Medford, Oregon 97504.
Mildred Victoria Roberts
Mildred (Millie) Victoria Roberts passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Eagle Cove Retirement Community.
Mildred was one of eight children born to Ralph and Nora Belle Murphy of Clayton, New Mexico. All eight children were raised on the homestead ranch outside Clayton.
She is survived by her three sons; Ted Roberts, Eagle Point; Joe Roberts and wife; Marq of Phoenix, AZ; Jim Roberts and his wife, Woodra; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.
Mildred was preceded in death by husband, Bob Roberts, in 1958. Bob was a long time Morrison-Knudsen foreman in the construction industry.
This united family spent many happy days in the 1950ies living and working on the Tokatee-Lemolo Project in the Cascade Mountains.
A graveside service is planned for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Siskiyou Memorial Parks.

Paul Jaros Suk
Paul Jaros Suk, of Eagle Point, died Monday (Oct. 25, 2004) in Medford. Private services will be held.
He was born on May 29, 1925 in Neponset, Massachusetts.
Paul served in the United States Navy, 20 years active and 10 years reserve. He served in WW II, Korea and Vietnam.
Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Karolyn; his son James Suk; step-daughter, Karen Clarkston; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Ray Ward
Noted artist Ray Ward, 79, died Monday, October 25, 2004, at his Grants Pass home from a respiratory illness.
Ray Ward founded senior softball in southern Oregon and started the Grants Pass Relics teams. He was known nationally for his assemblage art which combined memorabilia and graphics on large-scale dimensional displays, He was commissioned to commemorate legends such as Willie Mays, Ted Williams, Nolan Ryan, Phil Jackson and A.J. Foyt, plus Major League Baseball's All Star Game, the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame, and the First Transcontinental Railroad among others.
Born in Reno, Nevada in 1925, Mr. Ward served in Europe as an Army paratrooper during World War II. After graduating from Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles he began an award-winning career in advertising art direction in San Francisco, where he was named a "Living Legend" by the San Francisco Society of Communicating Arts in 1975. He was featured by CBS-TV, NBC, USA Today, The San Francisco Chronicle and other media.
Since 1988, Mr. Ward and his wife Francie have made their home in Grants Pass. They could often be seen dancing at local jazz venues.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 31, at noon at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass. The family requests that instead of flowers, contributions be made to The Ray Ward Foundation, c/o Brown Hughes Bird LLP, 612 NW 5th Street, Grants Pass, OR 97526.

George A. Weinzetl
George A. Weinzetl, 86, passed away at the Three Rivers Community Hospital on October 26th, 2004.
He was born in Pasadena, CA. on October 23, 1918.
Mr. Weinzetl worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 35 years.
During WW II he was in the "713" Railway Operating Battalion stationed in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany.
He was well known in the Rogue Valley as a distance runner. He had participated in the Pear Blossom Runs for 10 years. He also ran many marathons and shorter races around the state.
Mr. Weinzetl was a lifetime member of the Elks and Eagles Clubs.
He is survived by his wife Goldie; four nieces, Lorraine, Mary, Martha, and Lucille; four stepsons, Steve and Ted Peterson, Les and Ken Zimmerlee; one stepdaughter, Kathy McMurtrey; and several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, sister and wife Mildred (Zimmerlee) Weinzetl.
The services will be held at the Eagle Point Veterans cemetery on Monday, November 1st, at 2 p.m.
Wanda Luree Gibbs
12/25/1922 - 10/17/2004
Due to a long illness, Wanda Luree Gibbs died October 17, 2004. She was born in Lorenzo, Nebraska on December 25, 1922 to Robert Dewey and Lois Francesca Reynolds.
Wanda worked as a medical technologist in Oregon and Alaska. A long-time resident of Talent, Oregon, she was a board member of the Talent Historical Society.
In 2002, Wanda moved to St. Peters, Missouri with her daughter until her passing.
She leaves behind five children, their spouses, 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and two brothers. Her first husband and friend, Melvin Conley and their son, Lyndel "Butch" Conley of Crescent City, CA. Her daughters; Dixie Hannon of Salem, Diana Huston of Hood River, Jorjene Twaddle of Medford and Judie Foster-Lupkin of St. Peters, MO. Brothers Wendell Reynolds of Santa Barbara, CA and Donald Reynolds of Eagle Point, OR. Her Husband Warren Gibbs and her brother Kenneth Reynolds preceded her in death.
A celebration of her life will be held in Oregon in the Spring of 2005.

Christie Dent Lamb
Christie Dent Lamb, 57, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday (October 26, 2004) of cancer.
Christie was born August 11, 1947 in Los Angeles California to James and Marcia (Keith) Lamb.
She was an avid reader of mysteries, loved watching old westerns, and was devoted to her cats.
Christie was preceeded in death by her parents and by a brother John. She is survived by her brother Steven Lamb of Central Point.
Christina M. Keola Buss
Christina Marie Keola Buss, 29, formally of Eagle Point, Oregon passed from this life Sunday, October 03, 2004 at John C. Lincoln-Dunlap Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
Christina was the older of two daughters born to her parents James L. & Virta Leona Buss. She was born April 18, 1975 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Having her father a career military person the family moved frequently, until his retirement in October 1985 when the family moved from San Diego, CA. to the Rogue Valley and resided in the White City and Eagle Point, Oregon areas.
Christina is survived by her two daughters, Stormie Marie, 9 years of age, residing with her father Wayne Bradshaw of Grants Pass, Oregon, and D'Nea Rose, 4 years of age, residing with her father Mark Converse of Phoenix, Arizona; her paternal grandparents, James C and Ruby Buss of Omaha, Nebraska; her father and step-mother James L. and Jacqueline C. Buss of Eagle Point; sister Victoria Moulder (Robyn) of Gold Hill; step-sister Brandi Miller (David), Central Point; and step-brother William Speer of Renton, Washington; seven aunts; six uncles; and twenty-two first cousins.
Her mother Virta Leona Buss, 1948-1996, preceded Christina in death as also her maternal grandparents Luther and Grace Blake.
Christina was a very loving and caring daughter, mom and friend. She was given a foal and without a lot of professional training she trained her horse, Fire, and competed in 4-H as a member of the one of the Rogue Valley clubs. She loved reading, riding horses, having cats, dogs and other small animals around her and showing her children the ways to care for them.
Christina's remains will be divided amongst her daughters, sister and father. A memorial service conducted by Chaplin Jimmie Roberts will be held at 1 p.m., Nov 06, 2004 at the Interfaith Chapel, located at the VA SORCC, 8495 Crater Lake Highway, White City, OR.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations for the purchasing of Savings Bonds for her daughters.
Clara Weaver
Clara Weaver, 72, of Harbor, died October 22, 2004 in a local hospital after a short illness.
She was born Feb.11, 1932 in Sams Valley, OR to Lester and Elsie (Shoemaker) Payne.
Mrs. Weaver lived in Brookings for 50 years, and worked at the plywood mill for 11 years.
She loved fishing, hunting, gardening and having fun with her kids.
Survivors include her husband Ken Weaver of Harbor; a brother, Harold Payne of Central Point; sons Bob Knudsen of Brookings, Mike Knudsen of Alaska; and Karl Yost of Alaska; daughters Deb Taylor of Coos Bay, Vicki Knudsen of Brookings and Shirley Yost of Gold Hill; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Private services were held. Cremation is under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
Edith Arleen Ernst Erwin
Edith Arleen Ernst Erwin, 89, of Medford, passed away October 22, 2004. She was born December 4, 1914 in Mead, CO to George and Flora Clark. She graduated from high school in Colorado. In 1933, Edith married
Henry Ernst in Colorado. Their love for adventure took them and their young daughter, Arleen, to Fairbanks, AK in 1940 to homestead. Several summers were spent gold mining in the rugged Alaska Range wilderness.
Edith was a seamstress for an upholsterer, and later, a manager for a branch of Sears, but mostly enjoyed being a homemaker. In 1957, Edith and Henry and daughter Marilyn moved to Medford. Henry passed away in 1978.
Edith enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hiking, camping, and reading. Always the adventurer, she and daughter Arleen traveled extensively on cruises and tours to other counties. She organized the Alaska Club, belonged to DAR, Loners on Wheels, hiking groups, and pinochle clubs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 46 years.
Edith was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Peggy, brothers Oran and Gilbert, husband Henry Ernst, and second husband Walter Erwin. Survivors include her sister Adelyn Burdick of Ellensburg, WA; two daughters, Marilyn Chartier of Medford and Arleen Darling of Fairbanks, AK; son-in-law Larry Chartier; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A private family tribute to Edith was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
